You can format the sd card from within recovery and it won't affect your setup at all nor remove viper.

[Q] Getting back to the original....

Hi all.
First of all let me use this opportunity to thank this amazing and always growing community for their help and everything else in my Android life.
Well, I have been using different ROM's recently and experimenting a lot with my device. Its been great.
To cut it short, I am looking to get my device back to it's original state.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570, rooted, with MusicRom.
I also have a 2GB SD card, which I 'separated' in order to install apps on SD.
I would like to know how can I get the SD card back to the original mode, flash a simple Android 2.3.6 rom, and unroot it.
Help is appreciated.
You can remove the partition using a partition tool like multitool wizard. You can flash gingerbread through Odin, a good tutorial can be found here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=tcki_b7j0bQ. Stock roms are unrooted by default. Click thanks if I helped.

when flashing the stock rom 2.3.6 it will unroot by it self

Both helped a lot.
I found out that the tool is named Mini Tool not Multi Tool.
I am trying to un partition my SD card now. Than I will try and flash the rom through Odin and I am all set.
Thank you both.
Just a simpler method than that one:Just move all files from SD card to your PC.After emptying SD card go to Settings >Storage>Erase SD card. Now your SD card is 1.84GB free

Help Returning to Stock without PC (Vivid)

Hello, I got a vivid second hand and am trying to flash it back to stock so i can get the ICS OTA. I dont mind if I lose root, here is the situation. I got it with a custom rom (rumraider 2.3.7) so I suppose the bootloader is unlocked and its rooted. Bootloader still says S-ON by the way. Now I downloaded the PH39IMG for stock ATT firmware and placed it in my sd card, but when I boot in bootloader, i dint see it checking for update files like Android phones usually do. So it doesnt detect it. How can I fix this or is there something I overlooked?
Sorry for my ignorance, this is my first HTC with the whole bootloader locking fiasco so im kinda new on how things work here.
Or if there a CMW flashable stock rom I can download (could not find) or if someone is nice enough to upload a nandroid backup of a stock rom also, id really appreciate it. I dont have access to a PC ATM so I cant do the RUU method, im looking for a way to do it on the phone itself if possible. Thanks
Are you using the PH39.img from the super guide? Also did you put it on your external sd card and on the root of the card, not inside of any folders, etc.?

I figured out what the problem is, its not detecting my external sd card. I mixed it up with the phones internal memory. Im gonna have to see if i can pick up another one to test. Wish there was a CWM GB ROM floating around or some nandroid.

See here: http://blog.hash-of-codes.com/how-to-safestrap/
Install: This is for flashing a .zip file to the currently active system. Currently, this is disabled for the stock system. In a future release I will enable flashing to the stock system.

So, you cannot yet install a ROM into stock.
Its like this on purpose so you always have a stable ROM to boot into in case one of the unofficial ROMs messes up. About the only downside to this is there is less space on the internal memory and you need a microSD card since the internal memory isn't mounted as SD anymore.

Internal memory is mounted as SD on my phone. There is less of it because of the ROM slots, but it's still there (on stock and on all ROM slots.)

[Q] Returning HTC One from GE Rom to Stock Sense

Hi! I have an HTC One and decided to try the Google Edition Rom. Everything was just fine, but I missed some of the Sense features like Zoe and Blinkfeed.
I returned to stock ROM restoring through ClockWorkMod. As I did not get 4.2.2 OTA, I decided to downloaded the stock 4.2.2 rom at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2348502. Flashed with CWM and everything was perfect, except that it seems that the old Google Edition ROM is occuping some of my phone precious space, like 12Gb... Any help? Is the GE ROM storing data on another folder that I can delete?

Thanks!
i dont know if this will help but try cross referencing /data/media/ and /sdcard/ ? if not, im of no help >.<
sounds like your sd card contents got duplicated. It happens. move the stuff you want off of your internal storage then format it in recovery.

Thanks man! Is there an easy way to do this cross reference? Never did it...
Tks again!

[Q] pre-root & rom installation

Hi all, i have got an S3m (stock) for my wife & wanted to root & install custom rom before i gave it to her, then just pop her sd card in. Is this possible/advisable or am i better off waiting & using the sd card she has?. many thanks....
Before installing the Custom ROM you need to Install a custom Recovery like TWRP. This is possible via Odin. The you can flash your custom rom via Odin or Recovery. Rooting is not necessary before flashing ity i guess.
A guide how you have to do that can be found in the roms thread.
Hope I could help you!
Ok, cheers for that mate, but what i was trying to ask was can i use separate sd cards for rooting & custom rom & then just put the card she has in her phone(stock gb) at the mo? new phone is a gift. i want to install kk based rom on new phone. hope thats a better explanation..
Roms are stored in the phone internal memory, so swaping SD cards is not a problem.
have it sorted now, thanks for the help guys, wife very happy........
