Hi can any one please explain me how to flash CM 10.0.2 stable kernel in Recovery. I am on latest Carbon ROM uploaded by @demetris_I today.
Here is what I tried,
Rebooted into recovery, did CM backup on External SD Card, wiped data, wiped cache, wiped devlik cache, installed latest Carbon ROM, in recovery advanced restore from external SD, selected the last backup from CM which I made 10 mints go, restore boot ?
But had no luck with mobile data everything else worked well but had no Mobile Data, just had H sign without connection.
Do I need to restore something else?
Or what is my mistake?
Thanks

I've made a nandroid backup of my rooted stock Rom with cyanogen recovery and flashed Modacos FR15 wich worked retty good for me. But after some testing i wanted to change back to my stock Rom. After doing backup of the Modaco I wiped and restored the stock rom backup which refused to boot. I restored the modaco Rom which worked perfect. Any ideas what the reason could be? BTW md5 check before restore was all fine and no errors on restore.

Did you wipe everything? Also Dalvik cache? It worked for me tho, what kind of version are you using for CWM?
CWM is 3.0.2.8 (latest version which i installed via ROM Manager) - as I said - other backups of CM Nightly and Modaco FR15 worked without probs. But I made 2 Backups of my rooted Stock ROM v10c which refuse to boot after restore :/
Wiped all except Dalvik - I thought Dalvik gets wiped when doing Wipe Data / Factory Reset ... but I will try again with wiping Dalvik too.
I tried again to restore this time with dalvik wipe - but no change - boot hangs at the LG logo with the grey/blue loading-bar, the bar is moving some seconds and then stops and nothing happens. :/
try to press power+vol down to reset the phone to factory default. see if it can help...
I've had similar problem.
phone wont boot.
Only way I found out, you can see here:
http://android.modaco.com/content/l...rom-release-v10b-dated-1300166062-15-03-2011/
but you will loose everything what is on your phone
The reason it won't work, is because MCR converts the file system to ext4 (which CM7 can cope with). To revert to stock, you need ext3 - either
1. Use this to convert back to ext3 and immediately restore the backup (don't reboot or it will go fubar) http://android.modaco.com/content/l...3-for-converting-your-device-er-back-to-ext3/
2. Use nvflash to restore the stock 10b, then flash Clockwork, and then restore your backup.
The choice is yours .
So, I installed the GingerDX on my X8
It booted successfully
I rebooted my device, and started the CWM
I restored my data from CWM (backup and restore > advanced restore > restore data)
Then when I reboot, it froze at the bootanimation (after the SE logo)
And I have waited it for like 15 min
But still nothing happened
If I do full wipe, it will still work (I've tried already)
But I won't get back my data
SO, is there any way to get back my data from CWM and put it to the GingerDX ....?
The previous backup that you made using cwm was of gingerdx or it was some other rom..
If it was of the other rom then thats the problem.

I had the same problem, I downloaded some app and backuped via it...I can't remember what was the app...check in Google play.....and you will get it

maybe you restore in different kernel
ie : you're on B kernel, but you restore some backup from A kernel..
and you'll get stuck or md5 sum error..
when I got that prob, I just flash my X8 on A kernel and restore it
then flash the new kernel (B) and backup!
then factory reset, etc
Flash ROM
Well the exact same thing happened to me! What I did was boot into recovery , make a system backup, then install your kernel again then rom, then wipe dalvik cache. After that boot. Then after you have set everything up go back to recovery and advance restore only the data from when you couldn't boot, then boot again, I hope this helps!
You have to make a fresh start, that is the only way.eclair backed data doesnt like 2.2+

Full wipe and fresh start, You could also use titanium backup for app +data

So, it`s my first custom rom so i don't have any experience with it, so yes, i'm a noobie.
I've seen the ICS 4.0 Sources Out thread for a while and when i saw the CM10 release by arcee i decided to give it a try
but got stuck on LG boot logo.
What i did:
1. install cwm recovery v4.0.0.5
2. wipe data/factory reset
3. wipe cache partition
4. install cm-10-20121030-nightly-p990.zip (success install)
5. reboot system now
Then it get stucked at the lg logo... i can acess the cwm and try to reflash the ROM... but it'll get stuck at the same logo
Any solution?

How i do that? i don't see that option on cwm recovery
"
-reboot system now
-apply update from sdcard
-wipe data/factory reset (that's the one i used)
-wipe cache partition
-install zip from sdcard
-backup and restore
-mounts and storage
-advanced
-power off
-go back
"
EDIT1: I tried to format /system but it says "unable to mount"... mount doesn't work either
EDIT2: Backup file it isn't working... totally f***** up
1: wipe data/factory reset
2: wipe cache
3: advanced>wipe dalvik cache
4: mounts n storage>format data, format cache n format system
this is what is meant by full wipe
5: install CM10
6: install latest gapps package for jb
7: reboot system
this should work

What am I doing wrong?
Hi!
I never used CM7 or any custom rom.
I had 20s flashed via kdz.
I'm root. I installed ClockWorkMod recovery 4.0.0.5 and made clean cache, wipe dalvik etc.
I installed CM10 from zip (it only took a few seconds!) and rebooted. It showed two LG logos and never passed that.
I kept reading and saw this thread so I used smartflash to go back to FROYO, rooted, installed CWM and installed the last CM7 nightly (only a few seconds!) and rebooted.
All I get is a static LG logo and nothing else. I don't know what to do!
Thanks and sorry about my english!
1. NvFlash to 10b
2. Smart flash to latest stock ROM for your country
3. Rooted
4. Install ROM manager
5. After install ROM manager, open it
6. Install CWM v.6 through ROM manager
7. Boot into recovery
8. Wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik-cache, wipe battery stats
9. Install latest cm10 nightly through install zip from SD card
10. Install gapss through install zip from sd card

How do I install Nvflash? I have found tutorials for it but they are for the g2x. Will it still work?
I bought an o2x to replace my sgs1 which is great with cm10.
My story:
Phone was used and bone stock with froyo and 725bb
Rooted
Installed rom manager then flashed cwm 6.0.1.5 from rom manager
wiped everything
installed latest CM7
usb mass storage stopped working (was working with stock froyo)
copied latest cm10 nightly and gapps to an sdcard
wiped again
flashed cm10 and gapps
now I'M stuck on cyanogenmod logo and the lower buttons are lightning
repeated the process few times and still stucked at cm logo
Any ideas? Thanks!
*Update* Removed the battery and restarted the phone and now it seems to be working!
I was using Ultimate ROM XXLSZ_JB_4.1.2_v5.2 without any problems apart from poor battery performance.
However, I attempted to install Rocket ROM-V1-XXLSZ and have now got myself into trouble.
I followed the instructions to flash the latest XXLSZ-OXA cwm kernel and then flashed the Rocket ROM. It worked ok but I would like to return to the Ultimate ROM and kernel I had before.
I have a pevious full Nandroid backup of the phone (made with ROM Manager Premium) of the Ultimate ROM and the PhilZ kernel it came with but cannot restore it. I get the error "MD5 Mismatch" and the restore aborts.
Even if I reflash the original Ultimate ROM with all the usual wipes, the XXLSZ-OXA cwm kernel is still there and I still can't restore from the Nandroid backup. I tried re-flashing PhilZ 3.1 kernel separately and then the Ultimate ROM file but this didn't work either. The kernel is still the same.
Can anyone tell me how to either
1. completely wipe the phone so I can install Ultimate ROM AND the built-in PhilZ 3.1 kernel.
OR
2. get the phone to the point where I can restore from my Nandroid backup which I assume will restore the earlier version of the ROM at the same time.
I hope I've explained the situation clearly enough.
Thanks in advance.
Trevor
Install a cm kernel then wipe your phone then install a fresh ultimate rom and later on advance restore the data

Go to cwm/backup and restore/misc nandroid setting/ untick md5 check. And try to restore again

You don't want to restore your nandroid. It is a bad backup.
In philz recovery go to mounts and storage. Format system data preload cache. Them go to advanced from main page and wipe dalvik
Flash ROM. Guaranteed to work.

Thanks. I know I can flash the ROM again but I was hoping to learn why the Nandroid backup no longer works.
Since posting, I gave up trying to restore the Nandroid backup, did all the usual wipes, re-flashed the Ultimate ROM and re-installed all my apps from scratch so my phone is more or less back to normal (Incidentally, I notice that no matter how many times I do this, all my music and photos are still there even though they're stored on the internal sd card. Dunno why).
Most of the ROMs I've tried have the kernel built in so all I needed to do was do the usual wipes and then flash. If I didn't like the ROM, I just wiped again and restored the Nandroid backup using CWM (Vol Up + Menu + Power) and the phone was back to its previous state.
The only thing I did different this time, as per the Rocket ROM instructions, was flash a kernel first. I may have done something wrong with that step or messed it up somehow. Even when I flashed an earlier version of the PhilZ kernel, the restore still didn't work. I've still a lot to learn about ROMs and Kernels, I guess.
As I said, I have successfully restored from Nandroid backups many times before this without any problem after experimenting with different custom ROMs. Can I ask you why Nandroid is a bad backup? Is it a problem with ROM Manager?
(One problem I've always had with ROM Manager is that if I choose to write the backup to the external sd card, it falls over with error messages. If I choose the option to backup to the internal card, it works but writes the BACKUP TO THE EXT CARD ANYWAY! I cannot get a reply from the dev about this).
Is there a better, more reliable backup method you'd recommend that does the same thing as the Nandroid?
I notice that different ROM managers use different CWM Recovery versions ie ROM Manager Reboot Recovery = 6.0.1.2, ROM Toolbox Rebooter = CWM 6.0.2.8 (same as Vol Up + Menu + Power). Could that be part of the problem?
Sorry for the long winded post.

Hello everyone, a noob here in need of some help. I have recently rooted my LG P990 (it had the official ICS stock Rom) with CWM 5.0.2.8, and installed an official Cyanogenmod nightly build ( cm-10.1-20140112-NIGHTLY-p990.zip )
It worked fine overall, but had some issues (battery drain, reboots etc) so yesterday I decided to install the latest Tonyp's CM 10.2 Rom (cm-10.2-20131213-UNOFFICIAL-p990.zip).
I have followed the instructions (made a full wipe: format cache, format data, format system, wiped data and factory reset, wiped cache partition, wiped dalvik cache), and installed the .zip file from external SD card.
However, after rebooting the system, the phone gets stuck. It shows the LG logo, then moves to a black screen with 2 small LG logos on the upper part of the screen. And stays there forever (I tried pulling the battery out and rebooting, but it doesn't change anything)
The main problem is that I cannot even enter recovery mode now (when I hold the power button+volume down keys, it makes the same procedure as above and gets stuck).
So I have a couple of questions:
What have I done wrong?
How can I enter recovery mode to flash a stock Rom? (or alternatively, how could I fix this some other way)
Hope I have explained myself well. Will greatly appreciate any advice on this issue
Maybe you could use the aioli tool kit to fix that. Repartitioning the device and try flashing again would be my choice.

Thank you a lot for your advice! I did it and it worked perfectly, now I am running CM 10.2
Just one question left: is it always necessary to repartition the device after performing a full wipe?
Thanks again!
No, repartitioning helps in cases like yours, but you need not to repartition after full wipe. Glad I could help, mate
