Hello everyone, a noob here in need of some help. I have recently rooted my LG P990 (it had the official ICS stock Rom) with CWM 5.0.2.8, and installed an official Cyanogenmod nightly build ( cm-10.1-20140112-NIGHTLY-p990.zip )
It worked fine overall, but had some issues (battery drain, reboots etc) so yesterday I decided to install the latest Tonyp's CM 10.2 Rom (cm-10.2-20131213-UNOFFICIAL-p990.zip).
I have followed the instructions (made a full wipe: format cache, format data, format system, wiped data and factory reset, wiped cache partition, wiped dalvik cache), and installed the .zip file from external SD card.
However, after rebooting the system, the phone gets stuck. It shows the LG logo, then moves to a black screen with 2 small LG logos on the upper part of the screen. And stays there forever (I tried pulling the battery out and rebooting, but it doesn't change anything)
The main problem is that I cannot even enter recovery mode now (when I hold the power button+volume down keys, it makes the same procedure as above and gets stuck).
So I have a couple of questions:
What have I done wrong?
How can I enter recovery mode to flash a stock Rom? (or alternatively, how could I fix this some other way)
Hope I have explained myself well. Will greatly appreciate any advice on this issue
Maybe you could use the aioli tool kit to fix that. Repartitioning the device and try flashing again would be my choice.

Thank you a lot for your advice! I did it and it worked perfectly, now I am running CM 10.2
Just one question left: is it always necessary to repartition the device after performing a full wipe?
Thanks again!
No, repartitioning helps in cases like yours, but you need not to repartition after full wipe. Glad I could help, mate

Mickwa76 you need to give more information about your phone and how you did it.
I found this on the mobilegeek site:
Please note:
The ROMOW v5 is based XKL7 then I recommend you do a full wipe. If you are using a ROM-based or KJ4 KKA backups with Titanium may not be successful or lead to problems of instability '
Installation:
For safety, let the memory of your device running a ROM
Download the ROM and put it in the memory of your device
Boot into Recovery
Do all wipe
Flashate the V5.1
Reboot and you're done
PS: The first startup may take a few minutes, so do not worry. If the boot image continues to move forward but without going into loop, remove the battery and reboot the device
And you can always try other roms

Here is step by step procedure,
1. Flash Rootable Stock ROM
2. Root and install CWM
3. Copy ROMOW 5.1 to SD card (Preferably Ext SD Card)
4. Reboot into recovery mode
5. Flash ROMOW 5.1 ROM
6. Do a clean Wipe/factory Reset
7. Wipe Cache
8. Reboot
done.
Remember first boot will take little longer time than normal.
Install another ROM, safe all your data with titanium backup for example.
Then go to CWM Recovery and flash your new CustomROM.
First Startup could take some minutes, so dont push anything, wait.
After starting, reboot it 2-3 times
Then if you want, flash a new kernel with CWM Recovery and reboot it 2-3 times again.
N7000 KKA. Backed up stock on external. Saved .zip on internal sd. Backed up apps/data. Did a factory wipe and reset using CWM. Finally flashed the RowMo rom. Took a while to start, no boot loop. Worked fine for the first 10 minutes then my Note got excessively hot and started freezing. Rebooted a few times no change. Flashed stock back. Want to try rocket but a few people on xda have complained of freezes also.

Hello all. I'm having trouble with a galaxy ace, in that it seems very fussy about which ROMs it will run. Bought it about 6mo ago from Optus Australia on prepaid and unlocked it to use on another network. I tried at the time to upload a custom ROM, but failed and ended up having to re-load it with Odin 4.38 and the only images I could then find, which are these:
APBOOT_S5830XXKPH_CL260130_REV03_user_low_true.tar.md5
CODE_S5830XXKPH_CL260130_REV03_user_low_true.tar.md5
CSC_S5830XXKPH_CL260130_REV03_user_low_true.tar.md5
MODEM_S5830XXKPH_CL260130_REV03.tar.md5
Just recently the device has been unstable so I looked around and found the stable CM 7.2 ROM recently released (cm-7.2.0-cooper.zip) so I grabbed that, installed CWM 5.0.2.6, ran a backup and tried to install it. Device only got as far as the black boot screen with the word Android in uppercase doublespaced and hung.
Booted back into CWM and tried to restore, got the MD5 checksum error. Fixed the nandroid.md5 and tried again, and the device then hung at the initial boot screen for the stock rom (says Samsing Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 or similar).
Back to Odin. Found a recent version (4.42) and a one package ROM, S5830XWKT7_S5830OPPKS6_S5830XWKT3_HOME.tar.md5 and loaded this to the handset. This one gives me an Optus spashscreen followed by the sort of pulsing SAMSUNG text in an infinite loop.
Eventually tried the flasher and ROM I used six months ago (at the top of the thread) and was able to get the phone to boot successfully. Reinstalled the rooting package, reinstalled CWM5 and managed to restore just data out of the advanced backup/restore menu.
So I'm back to where I started, only six hours worse off Has anyone got any idea why this isn't working for me, or any good suggestions of how to proceed?
Cheers,
Alex
Are you sure you are using the GT-S5830 and not the Gt-S5830i ?
This was sent from a Galaxy Ace.
damn, that would be a stupid mistake
No, I'm not absolutely positive. The sticker under the battery says GT-S5830, but from a look at google images the two handsets appear identical? How can I establish for sure?

Use Odin 4.38, download any one package firmware from sammobile with your backup's android version (ie 2.3.4, 2.3.5 or whatever).
Flash it, wipe everything after Flash (from stock recovery), then root, install cwm and restore your backup.
Boot loops are mostly caused when you don't wipe after flashing. Connection issues can be fixed by flashing your region's modem.
Also, restore backups using the appropiate cwm version (backups of cwm5 restore with cwm5)
Cheers. Dunno if I'm being a bit simple here, but I'm only finding 10 most recent FWs here, all of which are 2.3.6 ?
I didn't do as much wiping as you suggest last time though, so i'll give it another whirl and see if I do any better.
I was being simple. Hadn't selected a region.
trying now.
Flash DXKPB 2.3.4 Asian firmware first. If you flash that, it will format all of your partition back to rfs
And after that you can just flash newer firmware like XWKT7 2.3.6 and wipe data. Voila!

i had stock 2.3.6 and i decided to download and flash Jellaxy
it works, but sometimes its slow, lagging and apps crashing
i have nandroids of both (stock and jellaxy)
i tried restoring stock 2.3.6
error restoring /system
advanced restore just system didnt work, too
i flashed 2.3.5 italian through odin (download mode)
odin didnt finish because of bootloop
i dont remember exactly, but i did wipe, factory reset, cache and/or other
it booted, finally (in italian)
then i formatted /data and recovered old data
bootloop
i tried wiping all at once: dalvik, cache, data, factory reset
bootloop
now i cant go to download / recovery by holding vol down/up and home and power, it goes to ramdump
recovery is now home + power
i can restore jellaxy, but not stock
what to do? i'm stuck on jellaxy

To restore a stock rom your file systen to rfs !!!
And all custum rom are ext4!!
Meaning ... Use stock recovery to wipe data causing the system to become rfs again then install cwm and ONLY !!! Restore ! Otherwise if u format it will convert to ext4 again !
U can also use chainfire ext4 app to change file system in jellaxy and then restore.
Take care

Hey Guys
I've got a problem since i flashed CM9 after a reflash 2.3.6 JVU with pit 512. I've flashed this GB rom to clean a little my system because it became so laggy. Now I'm on CM9 nightly of 12/07/2012 and I've lost my lockscreen, HOME button doesn't work ( but work on recovery ), and when I push the power button prolonged only 3 choices appear whereas normally there is 5 choices.
I noticed that when I flash the Rom by the recovery the progression bar isn't full when it finished and I think that there is a link between these two problems.

Downgrade your phone to GB 2.3.6 ValuePack and root it and then use it for some time..then follow all the CM9 Nightly steps carefully and upgrade...
This should solve your issue...

Well I've tried your solution and the problem appear on the GB rom too. I think it's the kernel who generate this problem when i flash the Semaphore one the problem appear.
Did you try a data wipe/factory reset? I had this problem once but no matter what I did it wouldn't go away. I ended up flashing a nightly, doing a wipe/factory reset (and formatting everything else in the CWM Mounts and storage section). Then reboot recovery and do a data wipe again. Worked for me!
EDIT - by everything in the mounts and storage section I meant /cache mainly. Not the sd cards.
The progress bar in recovery doesn't mean anything. The person who made the .zip chooses what % the bar will go to while stuff happens. I'm sure they could make it go backwards if they liked.
Edit: I've had that problem before. Just wipe all data and it should work the next time around. I think its caused by an ownership misalignment in the data partition. Once it starts your data is toast, ICS automatically deletes orphaned data.

I've tried thos solution but the problem appear again after 4-5 reboot i think that it's a file who put **** in the system.
I own a Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 running on android 2.3.6 with build number GINGERBREAD.DDKQ8.I successfully rooted my device(SU icon in the app drawer), flashed cwm5.0.2.6 with no error.
I flashed gingercruzt 2.2, cm 7.1,7.2,9,10 with the following instructions:
1) Wipe data/factory reset
2) Wipe cache partition
3) Under advanced, wipe dalvik cache
4) Flashed the rom.
After rebooting for the first time, this happens(for every rom I tried):
The phone boots into the rom(the capacitive buttons get turned on) -> setup window is reached -> then the phone starts booting again->in further boots it reaches cm logo only and keeps on booting again and again.
I tried wiping data, cache partition, dalvik cache and reboot. None of it worked.
I flashed the roms again .But still stuck at bootloop.
Ps : I randomly took my sim out and did a complete wipe and the roms work fine!!!.
But with sim again, the same problem persists.
PLEASE HELP.THANKS IN ADVANCE.
If you have installed any custon rom previous than i suggest you to first flash fresh ddkq8 stock and than try to install ur custom rom..
It might be happening because of previous rom data !

Problem could be your simcard? How is that even possible. Try flashing with your sim out then insert it after the rom is installed.

Did you mount the /system? Sometimes you have to do this.
Boot into CWM, mounts and storage > mount /system
Check to see that everything is mounted, sd-ext may or may not work, don't worry about it, it's a big in most CM9 ROMs
Cheers,
I'm in a bit of a bind here. I'm trying to flash Ultimate Rom, im coming from Kingdroid 5.1 an old ICS Rom.
Anyways, while I was preparing to flash I did a nandroid backup, however, I noticed that whenever it's trying to backup /system, the phone restarts.
So I decided to just bite the bullet and proceed without a nandroid backup. So what I did next is flashed Philz kernel, again after waiting for sometime the phone restarted and went into Kingdroid's boot animation, thinking that Philz may not work with KD I just hit on the VolUp + Power + Menu to get into recovery, to my surprise, I was greeted with Philz recovery. So I now tried to do Factory data/reset and seems to have worked. Next I went into Mounts and Storage hoping to format /cache, /system, /data. Went to format /cache, went fine so far so good, next format /system, uh oh, after sometime, again, the phone restarted and went into KD boot animation, again, I just went into recovery. Again I tried to format /system and again the phone restarted.
After that I gave up scared that my phone is now bricked, but to my surprise it booted into KD as if it was newly flashed. What gives? What's happening here? Seems that I still have root too because Titanium Backup works and am able to restore ES File Explorer.
I hope somebody can shed light to this issue, thanks in advanced.

give odin a try it's the oasis for you if you think nothing can't be done to make your phone good as stock..! goodluck and happy flashing

I remember now why I stayed with KingDroid5 and not upgrade to the later versions, its because of this same issue. So when I flash through odin, ill be back on stock right?
Yes if you flash rom using odin.. it will be stock., ICS stock kernels are not safe so.,. you will need to immediately flash a custom kernel like philz.
Thanks for the help. I will probably wait till I get the courage to do all over again, or maybe I could wait till samsung officially releases JB.
Thanks again.
