Hello Team!
I had a concern. The Experia Z is supposed to have amazing batter life but im getting no where near the battery life i believe i am suppose to.
My Experia is a T-Mobile USA STOCK experia, no root.
Brightness: All the way down
when i review the battery consumption it shows "Android OS" at 85%
could it possibly be a background process or something im missing. I hardly use the phone and it drains 10% in less than an hour.
Im pretty tech savy myself but haven't quite figured it out.
Any suggestions and or recommendations?
Thanks in advance
It actually isn't supposed to have really an amazing battery life but Android OS shouldn't be taking that much. I say reset it using software including data. I get about 4hr30mins battery life or 5 hours if I'm lucky

I've been reading a lot on these forums, and no one has seemed to address ways to improve battery life on the LG Revolution. I just got this phone a week ago and I've been averaging 13 to 14 hours of battery life with moderate to heavy use (applications, e-mail, texting, etc...).
Anyone have any tips or tricks to improve the battery life besides rooting it?
Is it worth rooting it now with Gingerbread rumored on the way?
Thank you all in advance.
personally..GB isnt available with Verizon yet..I would look for any leaks or anything that isnt officially supported..unless you wanna try it..turn BT off..use wifi when you can..turn screen brightness to 50 on the bar..try to look for battery saving apps on the marketplace..just a thought

I just got the Decrapified Rom on mine today, and am seeing some decently better battery life.(i used to get ~12hours anyway with some heavy usage)
Also...when I rooted and customized SetCPU a bit I saw much better battery life. I was able to clock down the CPU when the screens off, or when the battery is low, etc.
Just some thoughts for you

This helps battery life? I always thought wifi drained battery. But your saying wifi drains less battery than 4G? What about 3G?
Check your apps as well. I was watching my battery drop a percentage in literally minutes. I thought it was just the phone, and that I had to live with it, but in my case it was Go Weather!!
This app is EXTREMELY bad - drains battery insanely, and even when you configure it, it keeps popping back up in the running apps and goes to town draining your battery.
Apps like that can make a somewhat average battery life turn into an insanely bad situation.
13 to 14 hours with moderate to heavy use???
I'm lucky to get 10 hours without any use. I let it sit on a table overnight, and the next morning it was down to 28%.
HI.
I am looking for some information regarding the Sony Xperia Z.
I currently have a Galaxy S3 and my contract is up for renewal soon. The S4 is a bit underwhelming and I've had my head turned by the good looks and features of the Xperia Z.
I just wanted some peoples opinions of how the phone actually is during everyday use.
For example -
Is the battery life really that bad? Does Juice Defender improve it in any way?
How good is the screen?
Does it have an on-board radio (FM/DAB etc.)
How easy is it to flash a custom ROM?
Being on this forum, I know the answers may be a wee bit biased so if anyone can give me an honest appraisal of how much better an Xperia Z is compared to a Galaxy S3 (LTE) I would be really grateful.
Thanks in advance.
Battery life in my eyes is good, I work nights and I stream music to my MW600 for about 7 hours, 3G is on, check facebook about every hour, read a book on calm moment and check the interwebs. Starting with a ful battery and stopping with a 25% charge.
I just have stamina mode on, no other battery saving apps
I love just love the screen.
It has an onboard radio.
No idea about flashing, gotta ask someone els.
The screen is stunning great for movies/youtube and books and this is without the built in Bravia Engine 2 being enabled. Battery life is excellent when using stamina mode and no other apps, I don't think other apps are needed for this purposes as stamina mode learns as you ise your phone and gives you reccommendations to increase battery time. The battery does not discharge overnight either, screen off button pressed before bed and the percentage is the same by morning. Excellent in my opinion.
Not used other options but the waterproofing and dust proofing really is less of a worry.

What do you mean with that bad!??? It's not bad, for some people it is, but that has to do with other reasons beside the battery (Software optimization?)
"How good is the screen?"
We can't say anything about that, in the end you will have to be the one that decides whether it's good or not..
"Does it have an on-board radio (FM/DAB etc.)"
Uhu/Yup/Yes
"How easy is it to flash a custom ROM?"
It's easier then it will be on the GS4:silly: Talking about no CM for GS4

Hmm, this one is a bit tricky...
Haven't really seen too many pictures made by the GS4 so can't really judge that.
The things that I can say about the XZ camera is that it really has potential, we saw that with the burst mode.
So Sony should be able to make it better then it is at the moment. (Software issue at the moment)

I'd read a lot of reports and reviews that mentioned that the battery life wasn't the greatest. If it lasts a day with normal use then I'll be happy. I originally had the same problem with the SG3, with the phone not lasting 24 hours, but Juice Defender leaves me with about 35% at the end fo the day, after heavy use

Again, I'd read a few reports that said there was light leaking and that the contrast ratio wasn't the greatest. Just wanted a user's opinion on clarity, quality etc.

I'm not a big Custom ROM user, but I do like to root my phone. I noticed the Xperia forum wasn't the biggest, so again, just wanted an average user's opinion.
Thanks for the replies, though.

Yeah and I've saw a lot of people saying that the battery live is great.
I think that the XZ will have more custom roms then the GS4, even though less people will use the phone.
Ask the same question in the Samsung forums and you will get the opposite reaction.
The phone is just fantastic..The only reason i need to choose btw this and galaxy is by holding them togetheR Galaxy will feel so cheap in front of this galssy beauty!
Thanks for all the replies, guys. I think you've just made my mind up.
One of the key features of Lollipop is Project Volta, which is supposed to improve battery life, specifically standby time. I know the update has only been out a few days, but for those that have it, how much has your battery life improved?
It seems drastically better for me. Enough so that I'm going to keep the phone after thinking about getting rid of it after early battery life underwhelmed me. Where I used to finish the day at 10% or so, I'm now closer to 30-40%.
What I've found is that L without Greenify has battery life like Kitkat did with Greenify. Now that we have root we'll see if greenify makes it even better.
It's been a solid improvement for me, at least when I'm connected to wifi and the phone isn't being actively used. Probably only losing about 1% an hour now, as opposed to more like 3% before.
Project Volta optimizes battery consumption but app developers have to support the APIs, see here:
https://developer.android.com/about/versions/android-5.0.html#Power
So, basically, Google and Motorola apps probably already use this, but battery life will not be so much better until app developers introduce support for these APIs

Likewise for me. It is like a different phone!

Battery Issues
I may be in the minority here, but my battery life has significantly decreased since the update. I don't have specific figures but I do know that on normal usage, whereas my battery used to be at about 70% after approximately 4 hours, it's now down to about 50%. I suspect it is due to some apps that are not optimized for 5.0 that are restarting again and again in the background. Either way, I hope this issue is corrected because I am having a hard time walking away from the charger for very long.
Mine is much better then before on KK.
Guys,
Just received my tablet and I am thinking about immediately swapping the stock ROM for a custom ROM but I am wondering what is the battery life comparison. I have seen benchmark comparisons which look ok (i..e slightly faster via custom ROM) but I have not seem battery life comparisons.
Specifically, because this is more a casual use tablet, I am more interested is how long the device will last when its not used, rather than on-screen time with stock versus custom, but any advise as to what is the best option. So, has anyone done battery comparisons with the various ROM's available?
Thanks
Jerome

Hey Jerome! I'm running slim ROM and the battery is amazing! It's way better than stock because all of the amzon crap is gone so its not draining the battery.
I'm a casual user on this too and only really use it in the evenings for light web browsing and a few games. The battery easily lasts me three or four days before I have to plug it again.
When the screens off and its in idle it only drains about 1% every five hours! I thought it was broken at first because I'm so used to my phones battery draining.
I don't use any power saver apps or anything. I originally had greenify, wakelock detector and better battery stats ready in case of drainage when the screen was off but deleted all of them as they were uneeded!
I'd def go custom rom! Really recommend slimrom its great!
Cm12 is great too and the battery was good on that, its just better for me on slim!
Sorry if this was a well long answer!
hi everyone, my droid turbo drains battery on stand by stated as "cell standby". this problem was on lollipop and after the update it is still almost same. it drains like 10-13% overnight. any solutions pleas?
Having the exact problem on lollipop, haven't upgraded yet cause I plan to unlock bootloader sometime. Even my Moto X 2014 used to give me more battery life, though it had a tiny 2300mAh battery. I was thinking maybe I had a bad battery but now I don't seem to be the only one having this trouble. Maybe you should try Greenify & Amplify. There are also some pretty good Battery Saving mods available on XDA, go give them a shot.
Unlock bootloader, root, install stock-based, debloated, tweaked ROM:

@Computerfreak, thanks for such an excellently crafted ROM!
The battery performance is truly fantastic as is the audio quality.
FYI, I installed the stock ROM and thought that I had done something wrong when the battery drain was so high. @ChazzMatt suggested/recommended giving your version a go and I went with his suggestion. I am beyond glad that I did!
The battery drain went from me being able to watch it drop each minute to it not moving a single degree in over an hour. Six hours later and it's only dropped 7%-8%. (Wi-Fi was on for 5 hours and the music player was in use for 1 hour.) Nice!
The audio quality improvement was more than simply noticable in the car this afternoon (Mannheim Steamroller's "Christmas"); it was smooth and clear enough that I thought that it sounded like I had higher-end speakers/amp. Extra nice!
Your tweaks are much appreciated - much appreciated!
BTW, all of your apparently long-time fans kept mentioning Pon-3 and Xposed, so I'm off to explore.
Thanks, again for a wonderful job!
