I am living in a university hostel with only ethernet connection so I decided to use Connectify to create a hotspot for my Note. However, my wifi connection always drops off when I watch videos from the YouTube app. Every other apps works perfectly except the YouTube app. I got no problem with other wifi though.
I'm running stock 4.0.4, not rooted or anything. Tried clearing the app data as well.
Any help?

So i have ViperOne 4.1.0 running with Elemental X 10.8 kernel for over a week now. Everything was working fine up until yesterday when suddenly my phone cannot get an external IP address on my Wifi at home anymore. It connects fine to the Wifi itself however it cannot get any internet connection.
I have reset my router, modem, phone and nothing has worked. Other devices in my home which connect to the same wifi get internet connection just fine only my HTC One does not. Mobile data connection works fine btw.
Whats really puzzling to me is that really i have changed nothing on my phone in the last couple of days and not all of a sudden its simply not working so i'm grasping at straws here...
Anybody experiences similar issues or have any ideas what else i could still try to fix this?
Thanks
Well it turns out that changing the Wifi channel on the router from auto (was actually 9) to 11 in my case solved the problem. Weird ****...

Well I've recently started getting issues with the WiFi connection.
I'm sitting a few feet away from my router and should be getting full signals. But what I really get is full signals for a second, then 1 signal, then 2, 1 again, and then the WiFi disconnects and then reconnects.
I'm able to browse the internet fine ( with small breaks when it disconnects and reconnects ) but my phone has started to heat up. I've noticed it only heats up this much when using WiFi.
Any fixes or causes for this problem ?
Your Wi-Fi router is compromised. Do a Google search for chameleon. That's all I can tell you do to NDA.
Ya I agree router issue I had similar problem were I would drop wifi signal at home and had to restart phone to reconnect... Exchanged router and all is well.... AT&T n6 stock

I'll check this out. Thanks.
I agree with others. Definitely a router issue I'd say. No problems for me.

When the phone had root access, you could change the WiFi interval.
I changed it with the build.prop editor. I changed the value of wifi_supplicant_scan_interval from 10 tot 200.
I have the Verizon LG G2 device (VS980) with Android 5.0.2(39A) At this time, I'm not rooted but am experiencing a WiFi problem that is driving me nuts. Basically, anything that uses WiFi such as my browser, has a delayed reaction before actually downloading anything. Once it starts the speed is fine, but the problem is before that. It looks as if it uploads for 5-10 seconds and then downloads 5-10 more seconds later.
It shouldn't be an issue with my Linksys E1200 router as every other phone/tablet/laptop work fine and once the speed test is connected to the server, I get 20-30mbps which is normal. Again, the problem is like a delay before the downloading actually occurs. On average, it takes 15-20 seconds to start loading a page and then the speed of my internet kicks in fine. This happens every single time if the wifi hasn't been used for a few minutes.
My LTE service connects right away. I've tried forgetting the network and re-entering my network key and I don't really know what else to do.
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Edit: I just went to McDonald's and even though their WiFi is slower and the ping is worse, the connection starts right away when going to a website. So maybe it is my router?
I have the exact same problem lol! My relatives Galaxy S4, Note 4, S6 and Nexus 4 (all on lollipop), seem to not be affected. Their phones run perfectly fine on my WiFi. I've tried multiple things to fix the problem, but none of them fix the problem permanently. The only way I could get a stable WiFi connection, is by using an ASOP, CM12, or stock KitKat rom. It looks like the issue has something to do with ipv6 (at least for me). I don't have the knowledge to tinker with WiFi and modem/router issues or settings. I did tried though lol. The best way I deal with the issue when I'm on stock, is by using an app named "disable ipv6 root" or something like that. It does require root and you have to keep toggling on the disable feature every time you reconnect to your WiFi or reboot the phone. Hopefully, maybe somebody else with more knowledge on WiFi and router settings can offer some help on how to permanently fix it.

Thanks for the response. Yeah, I'm pretty sure it has to do with my router. I hope to get a new one sometime soon but they're not exactly cheap for the ones I want to buy. I will probably flash ASOP or CM on to my phone at some point, just been too busy lately.
Hello all together,
I'm considering to buy this phone (actually for quite some time ). Apart from the OnePlus service (which should not be part of this thread right now) what bothers me most are the Wifi problems I am reading about.
Problem is, when reading throgh the internet, you never known whether all or only the people with problems are speaking up.
So maybe to lower mine and the doubts of others, people owning this phone could quickly post wether they do experience wifi problems or not.
Thanks in advance
My OP3T did have some major wifi issues when I first got it. Regardless of whether I connected it to my router's 2.4 Ghz or 5 Ghz bands, it would momentarily disconnect every few minutes and then reconnect within seconds. It wasn't a major issue for most tasks, though some games that required a constant internet connection did get interrupted. Oddly, the wifi worked flawlessly on my school's network, so I'm assuming the issue is router dependent.
Then OOS 4.0.3 was released a few weeks ago, and with it the "disable IPv6" option. I had read that IPv6 did cause some problems with older routers, but I couldn't force it off on mine. Enabling the disable option on the phone seems to have cured it of all its disconnect problems. It's working consistently now.
No problems at all.
Ever

Please report back. Would be interesting if this is some kind of definite fix
i have not used the Stock OOS Rom Was using this phone from like a month and running with custom roms tried many and i have not seen any wifi issues
I've had the one plus 3t since December and I have never had any wifi issues. I've used stock OOS and Los and wifi has always been great for me
Hello,
I'm having no problems with the WiFi, no problems at all. But I do have a problem with cellular data, it randomly turns off in the middle of a YouTube video or while browsing social media. I'm hoping they fix this in the future.
Cheers!
Wifi is pretty good... when you're sitting next to the router...
I get about 60mbits down when I'm next to the router and about 1mbit when I'm in my room. My oneplus one, my dads iPhone, my laptop and my shield tv do not have this issue.
It seems like the Wifi range is absolute crap which is really the only thing I don't like about this phone.
Thanks for the answers so far. Not as bad as I thought

I heard about the lack of speed but this is by far the slowest I read about
I just got my 3T two weeks ago. It came with Marshmellow and I immediately upgraded to OOS 4.0.3.
I am connected to a 5.GHz WiFi connection in my house and never had any problems.
I don't play games on my phone so I can't really test gaming.
I am Systemless Rooted with Magisk with a pass for SafatyNet, meaning I should be able to use mobile payments but I have yet to try.
I doubt the fact that I am rooted is making a difference in terms of my WiFi connectivity.
I can test my 2.4Ghz connection in the future. I have not done anything with IPv6 or modified anything in regards to my WiFi settings to make things better. I simply connected my phone to my 5GHz network and started downloaded apps and etc.
I hope this helps.
Didn't have any issues yet. The only thing I agree on is the poor WiFi range. I had exactly zero inhouse issues neither with my iPhone 6s plus nor with my nexus 6p. But with my oneplus, I loose connection in my kitchen, which is like 10 meters far from my router. Pretty afraid of this being persistent.

Thanks again for all the answers .
I think suppose there are definitely a lot of people without any problem concerning wifi connection drops.
The thing with the poor connection is definitely something but that I already knew.
No wifi issue for me.. Stock OOS 4.0.3 rooted
As far as I know it doesn't necessarily connected with the problems in the android device. My causing is using the same phone and as I remember he used to face some issues but later he found out that the phone works well, but he has issues in the wi-fi router he is using. To avoid this kind of problem I would like to recommend you to get acquainted with the following article 192.168.l.l login . Hope it will be helpful for you!
