Heavy games problem

Hello guys my problem today is heavy games like mass effects and asphalt 6
Problem is my phone runs those games slowly very slowly and I think it should be faster than this but why heavy games are slowly if we compare it with iPhone 4 (has same processor speed)iPhone runs them very fast so should I do something to run them vary fastwithout hangs thnx

Try closing some background apps. Performance also depends on what android version you run (but I don't think you use Froyo, gingerbread is way better )

GPU in Black is not first class. Actually it's rather old and even if CPU speed is the same than in Apple then GPU is much way weaker.

Can I use chainfire???!!!!

chainfire will make only things worse - it will emulate another GPU...

I don't have those games so I can't check how it run at my config. But Real Racing 2 runs fine on Black.

thats wierd cause, if my mind doesn't trick me, I remember when first using my OB for first time, a year ago or something, it had froyo and asphalt6HD and I spend hours playing it without problem before I even know about this forum...
now with the big wave of new roms, you can play almost anything you want

that is absolutely not true!!!!....the GPU of black is still on par with most mid range droids rolling over adreno 200/205.
and of the Iphone, i feel u r comparing OB with iPhone 4 and not 4S, since they are on par. iPhone 4's GPU is as much powerful as OB's. the optimization is of the light (read "flash" free )OS
my OB plays most games seriously well... i feel it's a seriously well balanced device for the price range.
@hemo ali: try and use a task manager before your game start to clear off and release RAM. and avoid intensive apps like browsing, streaming etc while playing.
or better yet, get zeus/marvel

okay another big problem after installing chainfire drivers And i noticed it goes well
but now another big problem(priority is very high)phone full hangs and stopped 4time/1day And I should release battery then put it again why is it related with chinfire???!!

I use cm7.2 rc3 with heux 4.0 kernerl, with chain fire 3d with smartass2 governer.
I play asphalt6, st iv and ShadowGun.
I dont find any perofrmance issues.
The games some time lag, and I see in CPU spy the CPU is stuck at 300 Mhz, killing the game and relaunching it fixes it. I see in CPU spy that CPU is scalled at 1 Ghz

I use Zeus 6.28n and i play both games + front line commando.. and i have no lag and works fine. i didn't change any frequency.. i use RARELY the memory booster when i switch from game to game..

Hi im thinking of buying a nice phone for playing games is xperia t right thing. How are games like modern combat 4 , nfs most wanted, spiderman, dark knight rises running on this device . Plz give a quick response

Out of the box, it works OK until it gets hot. There have been numerous threads about thermal throttling kicking in after a while and killing performance - do a search rather than creating an 'urgent' new thread next time.

This phone gets HOT when playing games? i thought its 28nm cpu will stay cool. Should i buy xperia T or should i buy htc one XL for gaming
by the way i researched alot and could not find a similar threat.

Most new phones have some sort of heat issue and thermal throttling. I would recommend trying the games on the handsets to see exactly what you feel about it.

I am running now at 192 - 1458MHz, both cores always on, when the heat is going over about 65°C, CPU is throttled to 1188MHz (and less), still with both cores on. When I am gaming a little longer, CPU temperature is going up to 75°C and battery temperature does not exceed 50°C while connected to wall charger.
All games I know are running smoothly this way.
These temperatures should be fine. If anything goes wrong with these temperatures, then it's a bad device.
Thing that is low on T, is RAM. I would recommend something with 2GB. I believe there will be games with 2GB requirement soon. And T has only 640MB available RAM for applications. And system is using about 300 - 400MB. The rest of RAM is low even for browser and low for future gaming, at least now in ICS.
And internal memory chip has not very good performance. For example SenseMe Slideshow (plastic frames) never makes smooth slideshow. Opening phone or SMS app takes almost 2 seconds. Opening NFS Most Wanted takes about 15 seconds (and this procedure kills all opened apps, very nice. Etc.
I am not telling it's a bad device, I like it (except wifi, that one drives me mad. But I recommend something else for heavy gaming.

Out of curiosity, ¿what rom/kernel combo are you using?. I'm interested in undervolting and underclocking my device.
I used Siyah kernel while I was on Timin8r's stock rom, but now I'm running AOKP and I don't know any current kernel compatible with that.

Siah kernel, but works on stock kernel too (except 192MHz). Values are changed manually.

i have already ordered the Xperia T But hope that it will not dissapoint me Devices with 2GB are out of my reach and in my country i found xperia T the fastest in my current budget

You won't be disappointed. It is good device. But has some disadvantages. Just like other devices.

Its got f*** all to do with ram. 1gig is enough. We get full effects like the galaxy s3, and as mentioned in earlier comments adjusting the throttling works wonders. This game never lags for me.

Gameloft have started adding graphics setting to their games which is a good move, so I imagine MC5 will have them. Dunno about dead trigger 2 but they normally optimize their games well. I have a lot of games, they all work fine after reducing the thermal throttling. Only problems you might face is games being unavailable such as a few flu titles, but device spoofing takes care of that. My phone sometimes shuts down from online gaming because the battery can't take the stress, but as long as the throttle allows 12420000 or lower it rarely happens unless battery is low. Plus a friend is trying to make a fix for it, by putting out a voltage based on averages, rather than having a voltage that is too high then it dropping too low under pressure . Also its the same chip as USA version of GS3

Dead Trigger 1 plays smooth on my Cortex A5 800Mhz and Adreno 200. :\ Few lags here and there but nothing noticeable... I think this will handle Dead Trigger 2... Subway Surfers lags like hell though.
How about N.O.V.A 3 and MC4? I just worry about constant non-playable frame rates. I can't judge by YouTube. Do you get smooth experience with Adreno 225?

Yeah its pretty good. My shutdowns are getting bad though. If you get one of these get one with a 1780mah battery, the 1850mah is fatally flawed

[Q] 4X HD with 4.1.2 vs Nexus 4 advice

So recently, a pretty good deal approached me where I have a chance to sell my 4X HD and buy a nexus 4 for a reasonable amonth of money. I was pretty disappointed from the performance in games, camera quality and sound so this deal came in handy, but now when the leaked jelly bean update has been showing pretty good improvements in all ways I dont want to regret selling this phone. As I didnt even hold the nexus 4, just saw a ton of reviews, I'm asking for some advice if I should stick with the phone or change it, from some experienced users.
Do you guys think that the new update will bring much better performance and overall make it on par with the nexus 4?? What advantages would I get getting the nexus 4 in this case ( battery, screen, etc)

Battery is somewhat improved but still not amazing, games also improved a little, shadowgun thd for example now doesnt lag at all. Im curious to see how development goes with the unlocked bootloader, but if someone gave me a nexus 4 to swap i would. The question is how much money will you lose, and is it worth it? Personally ive always wanted a nexus phone for googles support but wouldnt pay the prices

Take the nexus, at least then it's 100% unlockable from the get-go.

but i think that highly modded P880 (for example with future CM10.1 and 3.4 kernel by kholk) will catch up stocky Nexus4 a little

Nexus 4. Better specs, overwhelming support. The 4X will never catch up to the better specs of the N4. Software can only help up to a point, then hardware wins out.

Thnaks guys, I'll probably go for the nexus then It looks cool anyway and I like to change things from time to time I was a bit concern that it doesant have an expandeble memory, nor you can change battery , but I think 16 gigs will be okay. BTW What about the battery lifon on nexus 4. I've red a lot of pages on the nexus threads and it seems that majority is reporting not a good battery life at all, so are the reviews i've seen. But some say that it can last for 2 days with no problem.. I was pretty satisfied with the baterry life on 4x HD as after root and freezing some aps I could do 2 days no with no problem, and ti should be even bettter with jelly bean. Hope the nexus 4 wont last mi for 8 HOUrs or so as I'm used to 2 days
any personal experience ??

I think that nexus 4 is much better because it has much better hardware and awesome software support

Is it really possible to get 3.4 kernel unless nvidia releases sources? I doubt it since Nexus 7 running tegra 3 has only 3.1.10, I would too love to see 3.4 kernel on o4x.

I know that every single man have problem with lagging, but trust me a quad core 1.5Ghz processor is not ment to lag at all, so I found that after changing cpu profile on my 4x HD to "performance" I got no lag in games a so, I noticed that with the default CPU profile playing games actives only ONE core .
I think that every thing will be good in the future I HOPE so

You are delusional, it lags a lot on any cpu governor, even more we dont have custom kernel (read custom cpu - gpu scaling).
At this time LG 4X is not even close to LG NEXUS 4, maybe it will never be...so 4X is a LG - NVIDIA collaboration failure.
Happy marriage is LG & QUALCOMM...

I think its devs fault, some games are perfectly smooth! Shadowgun thd that lagged on ics works great on jb. The problem is devs arent making their games use multiple cores yet they are putting them on high graphics, causing lags. Whats strange is if you look at tegra phones on nvidia site the optimus 4x isnt listed. Something about LG power management must make it hard to allow multithreading in games compared to.the one x

The "my phone can last 2 days with no problem" shouldn't be taken as a thuth, my p880 can last 2 days without a problem but only if i use it lightly.
You should investigate how many hours will it last when gaming, watching movies or internet and then you will know if it really worth the hassle of getting a new phone.
And by the way, if the nexus has no expandable memory then you better be sure you won't need it, i'm not the kind of guy that stores 5 full movies or even 1000 songs but with only 5 or 6 games, a few apps and like 300 songs i already got 8 GB full out of the 12 GB available on my p880.
What i would do is wait until the official release of the JB for my P880, i'm pretty sure they will fix a LOT of things in that version including gaming, internet, apps and they will unlock the BL (just be realistic and don't expect your phone to become ultra mega fast and that the battery will run for 30 days straight without charge)
This Leaked release version of Jelly bean is obviosly incomplete and with several bugs and honestly i think LG leaked this version just to get rid of the people who were trying to hack their site.
Be patient and you'll be fine.

For hardcore gamers

This tutorial is for anyone who wanted this phone for gaming. You will get buttery smooth gaming performance compared to the latest jellybean. NO JOKE!
1. Download v10a.kdz
2. Flash it
3. (Optional but recommended)Get gamebooster 2 and put it on "Hard gaming" or "Ultra gaming" and the extra ram tweak
Please note that v10a has appalling battery life so only use if you're desperately wanting to play games. Battery life can be brought back to normal by restricting the cpu with lg gearbox
SO HOW DOES THIS WORK?
Basically v10a was like the one x first rom, not enough thermal control. Great for gaming, bad for battery and your thumbs comfort (BURN!). The control is there, but its so subtle you wouldn't notice. I'm surprised hardly anyone knew how well v10a performs. When I have time I will post the throttling values to see how they differ with more recent roms.
Update: There are no throttling values
Games tested:
GTA VC-Smooth as silk
Spiderman-1.1.7 playable, 1.1.4 is smooth
Need for speed MW- As always this game is badly optimized but its a lot less noticeable, just slight slow motion at the road blocks
Dead trigger- Minor hickup at game start but overall higher frameratr
Contract Killer 2- No more stutters when shooting
Gangstar rio: Exactly the same, just a glitchy update
Block story: smooth unless draw distance is increased

I can play Real Racing 3 (Medium Settings) and Vice City with V20A, not so smooth, but you can play. I think everything will be fixed with other updates or XDA developers will do that, if you can play without problems with V10A.

There are no throttle tables in v10a, so even though theres a throttle value in tegra_thermal I don't think its doing anything.

The thing is - the apps are not optimized for quad-cores.
Using LG Gearbox and limiting to one core will do the trick for most games, but Gearbox won't work for JB 4.1.2.

what about battery ? at least one day ? ( i mean, charge, overnight, at day some games and evening charge again)

This is true for ea games. Thing is gamelofts optimization isn't that bad, most play smooth on one x, I would say this is on par with one x stock rom

I recently bought an tablet in China for only 70 euros, its so smooth and battery is great (RockChip 3066, dual core @1.6ghz and quad core Mali-400 GPU) and it runs games better then my phone.. that sucks, my phone also needs to be factory reset and reinstall the backup when i charge it from 0 to 100% in off-mode (WTF!?) I kinda want an other phone, but i guess im still stuck to it for 1.5 more years..
(Unless AOKP releases.. best rom ever on legendary HTC HD2.)

Your phone is wierd. If youre desperate for games try this rom. After further testing I find the battery isn't too bad afterall.€70 Is pretty good for those specs, I'm considering a kindle fire at some point this year, good cheap tablet in the UK

I'm playing just two games. Real Racing 3 have an app in Play Store to change graphics settings without root very easy (Low, Medium, High, Ultra), so you don't need LG Gearbox to run game at Medium, and Vice City have Visual Effects settings (Low, Medium, High, Max). Bottom line? I don't need Gearbox for now to trick games I have just one core.

Hi, i also change graphics for RR3 (via app on play store, and triey manual way too) but always I have problem run game offline - Needs download 1MB ... so game after change graphics dont work offline, only online ... how solve it ?

[Q] s3 lte vs snapdragon 800 graphics performance

hi i have a galaxy s3 lte with the 2gb of ram, i play alot of 3d intensive games like gta vice city, while it does play these games pretty well I'm wondering how much better phones with the new snapdragon 800 are going to be in actual real play? would it be noticeable, if so how much? worth the money? or not? Or would it be worth waiting another chip generation before upgrading my phone. I am quite happy with all of the other features , any thoughts would be greatly appreciated .

if you like games like me, wait for the new genetarion of nvidia chips (i think it will be "Tegra 5")... look for "project logan" on youtube...

The only device that is great with games right now in market is Sony Xperia Z Ultra with its Snapdragon 800 processor and super awesome GPU.

The S600 should be considered also, there are mant S600 phones out there(Htc one , Oppo find 5(new edition), S4...) And it is not laggy.
