Old Text Messages Being Resent After Booting - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It seems every time my phone loses power, either from a dead battery or a reboot, I have at least one days-old text message resent, normally to the same person. I'm on T-Mobile, ARHD 12. Does anyone else have a problem like this?

That would only make sense if you had text messages that weren't sent due to low signal or something, and being resent when the phone rebooted. Were those messages successfully sent previously (When they were supposed to be sent)?

Yes, sent successfully, and often already replied too.

Weird SMS

Does anyone get like a glitch kinda thing with their sms when they are receiving them. ...Sometimes I will receive sms messages with no problems what so ever and i will receive them right away. Other times, It will be hours after they were sent and I will receive them. Or I will not receive them until the next time I go and open my sms inbox when im planning to send another, all of a sudden I just receive a new msg, hours late.
Any ideas?
its usually just your gsm service, my carrier is on-time but the time-stamps on the message is sometimes wrong.
maybe sometimes, but other times ...for example, I may be having a conversation at night, then fall asleep. The next morning, when im going to send a new sms message, i open the sms message window and a new text arrives with the time stamp from the night before, and i know that this new message was not just sent now because the person who sent it is still asleep
bump.......
yea its the network.
or u just got a really crappy sim card.
Yeah, I get that. It's probably a minor software glitch. I've had people call me complaining I didn't respond to a message and lo and behold, when I open messages to prove them hideously wrong, the 'message recieved' tone beeps several times and "[X] new text messages" pops up at the bottom of the screen.
Still not figured out how to set the phone up to do this (i.e. whether you minimise or hide the messaging app, whether you open a new app first then go back to today screen, etc..)
Still, only rarely happens. And at other times when recieving texts I could swear the phone doesn't beep... just conspirationally increments the new message counter and keeps silent. I pick up the phone after it's been sat next to me and it says I have several new messages.
Same thing happens to me, i've researched it for days and cant find a fix. I'm dreading calling ATT because they are usually of no help, but I'm gonna put my pants on and call them in a few minutes.

cyanogen texting?

my nexus from time to time says that the text messages that i sent doesnt send. i would get a notification saying that it didnt send, however when i go to resend, sometimes it goes through and sometimes it doesnt. my friends have told me that they do get all the texts messages everytime, so they get them even if my phone says it didnt send. its reaaaaaaalllllyy annoying to see that notification every time. im running cyanogenmod 5.0.6 any thoughts?
oh btw fellas, i work at ATT and i changed my sim card and all that jazz so its not the service what so ever
I have similar issues every now and then. Usually occurs when I am sending texts fast.
I have the same issue minus that all my text usually don't go through. I usually end up rephrasing what I wanted to send and it sends.
it happens from time to time for me too, i sometimes have to reboot

[Q] Receiving multiple copies of same SMS??? Help!

Hey everyone,
So yesterday I noticed that I would occasionally receive multiples of the same text message. It started out only being once or twice, but it has increased in frequency. Today, I reset my phone with Odin3 and installed SRE 1.2.2a. Also, I added the lag fix. Unfortunately after ressetting, I am still experiencing the same problem. I thought it was an issue with handcent, so I switched to chompSMS and the same thing is happening. Most recently, I have received the same text message 7 times, and it was originally sent an hour ago. The odd thing is that each copy that is sent to me shows the ORIGINAL send time, so its something on my end that is going wrong.
For the record I have notifications only turned on for one SMS client at a time, so thats not an issue. i have toyed around with my sms settings and everything but for some reason I still am getting this problem. anyone have any help?
update: just texted myself and i have gotten 3 duplicates of the SMS in the last 3 minutes....wtf????

I have sre 1.2.2, the lagfix ext4 and firmware jh3.
The same crap is happening to me! I have no clue what it is, I'm talking to this girl and since I'm getting some of her text multiple times, it is delaying her other text so it ruins the whole conversation. It's bull****! She's on an iphone and she wasn't having an issue.
Anyway, I switched my sim card from the Captivate to my Bold 9700 and started to text myself, the same crap is happening. So, I don't think it's the Captivate.

[Q] SMS Htc Hero CDMA Problem

I'm postivie i received two text, from my self, and my friend sitting next to me; They were delayed until i made a phone call. Any fixes? Surely would appreciate it!
Rom - Stock 2.1 Rooted
I'm thinking of going back to Cyanogen 6.1 when this problem is fixed
Thanks!
Are you going through a SMS app, like Handcent, or using the stock messaging program? I had a huge delay in sending/receiving texts when I used those programs. If you are using a non-stock program, try using the stock one to see how it responds first.
Yeah, i am using the stock app, but ill try using handcent and see if it works like that
Sorry, Handcent was the one giving me problems, not the stock app. How is the other data flowing, like browser and what not? Seen any drop in data coverage or anything? Do you have the newest baseband radio?

Do you have a "low space" warning? I know I've had problems receiving mms/texts when I'm low on internal space. Once I cleared up the space (>19MB Free I believe) by uninstalling a bunch of apps I never use, all the texts came in
Just a thought
Well, i got it fixed, went to the sprint store, (unrooted of course) and they fixed it within an hour, they reset the entire phone, not the same reset as Settings>Privacy>Factory Data Reset.
text and phone calls not getting through
my wife and i both got HTC incredible with Verizon service, this been almost two months ago. my phone is completely awesome, hers on the other hand has an issue her phone will stop receiving text, and or phone calls out of the blue. we will be texting back and forth and all the sudden hers just stops getting my text, so i will call her and it will ring on my end, till her voice mail picks up. this has happen few times a day ever since she has had the phone. if she makes a call out or restarts the phone then she will get all the texts, and voice messages at once. this happen with stock phone apps and ones like handcent. it happen when phone was s-on and after i rooted and installed new kernels and all that jazz. i have talk to Verizon and they talk me through reset and few other things but still doing it. guess i am going to have to see about taking it in, unless anyone has any other advise i have not thought of. all of her software versions are same as mine.

You might have better luck asking on the dinc forums.
-----
Sent from my CDMA Hero. I got some hot Gingerbread-on-Hero action here!
not just a dinc issue...!?
yea, i know, i put it here because, it seems like same issue this guy was having and i have been searching around and have found many instances of the same problem on many different android phones.
i am un-rooting it and reinstalling the original software and taking it into Verizon tomorrow to see if they can do anything. should have done it sooner but every time i would try a fix it would seem like it was fixed for a day or so and then back to the same thing.
i will copy it over there just for posterity, and hopefully i can amend it tomorrow evening with the fix and a solved!

[Q] HTC One Texting Issue

I got my new HTC One from Rogers 5 days ago. It was brand new in factory seal, yet it came with an album in it labeled "august 2008", with scenery photos and also some preloaded music. This has led me to believe that this phone was actually returned to HTC, which was then repackaged and shipped after a failed factory reset. This has bothered me a little, but this is not the issue. The issue is that I am getting repeat text messages and occasionally, a failed message. It says my messages are sent but the person I am texting does not recieve them. This was not an issue with my previous Nexus 4(which used the same sim card on the same phone plan). Also, I am getting clusters of texts 2-3 hours late sometimes. The timestamps on these late messages show the correct time when the texts should have gotten to my phone but it seems as though these messages are not being pushed to my phone on time. Is this a hardware issue? Is anyone else having this issue? Im on ARHD Rom 12.1 Clean Flash, with S-OFF and Supercid. I have tried reflashing the rom but the problems persist. I am not having any other issues with this phone except for some minor physical build quality issues. (The phone gets up to 40C with Snapchat, Browsing, and Texting. I don't know if that is a problem though)

Your phone IS fresh. If you were to ever look into your system files, youd notice alot are labeled with 2008 (or at least mine are) and i watched mine from the time it came off the truck and went into my hand. The fact youre getting jammed texts, my advice is check your APNs, clear the cache on the Messages.apk, or, if youve selected any US carriers in Aroma when installing ARHD, reflash as International. Also, have you flashed any messaging mods? That could be a problem of yours too. Also, hows your coverage (in dBm) versus in your nexus? Check and see if theyre similar, if not, well, there could be a problem there. Anyways. Hope you get it fixed.

The album you refer to is for the Zoe feature and should be there.
The text issue is not due to ARHD 12.1 or the phone I don't think.... it's possibly a problem with your carrier
