My Sony Xperia TX gets hot while playing games. It starts getting hot just after a gameplay of 5-10 minutes.
Is this normal. And is this providing any harm to my Sony Xperia TX ??? It gets hot from the upper side of the phone, both front and rear.
Thanks.

That Depends on The room temperature that you in if your room is some kind hot the device will become hot too but if your room isn't hot that may harm your device if you continue to play

It is normal. Just be careful though. Your phone is known to kill SDCards because of the heat

What ?
So, if I'm on under sunlight with 40°~50° C temp, it will harm my device ?
-_-
Room temperature doesn't matter, as long as human can live in there
@nafay142
It's normal, because 28 nm processing, of course, heat will be challange in here
always check your CPU temp, even TX have thermal throttle that set CPU clock scaling down when reached "danger temperature"
If your device about 50° or 55° C, I suggest do not use the phone about 5 minutes, let CPU scaling down to 40° C or lower, after that, you can use your phone again
Honestly a CPU can withstand about 100C. But of course not CPU manufacturer would let it reach that high since there is always a kill switch. So I say there is nothing to worry about. Xperia has its own thermal throttling system. You can play until your palms sweat
One thing though. If you are using some kind of casing over the back of your phone, remove it.
Well, I don't want take a risk to heat CPU to 100° C
Even if my CPU can handle that
Actually, not all CPU can handle at same clock and temperature
Everything is about luck, how lucky you get "nice" SoC
My save risk value for CPU is 70°C, but remember not all CPU can handle that, and may kill your CPU in instant way
And if CPU getting hot it means lower performance
Yea mine too but its okbsincw it will zhutoff automaticly oncs reach danger heat

I'm using Kernel Tuner
And my normal usage for using CPU is about 45° C to 51° C
Maybe more or less, the highest CPU I get when playing a 3D game is 50°C to 60°C for the most

Hi! i was wondering if Xperia X8 E15i could be overclocked to 1000MHz because i heard from my brother (he had this phone and then i got it) and his not sure because its not possible anymore to do it anymore.
My brother had my xperia long time ago and he had 1000MHz then later when he gave it to me he unrooted it and make it to normal Xperia

864 mhz is max for msm7227 (or armv6...)
you cant go higher
and 864 is very unstabile:good:
OK but I use like this 600-800 MHz and I get no lags playing bike race but what is best?

High frequency-less CPU life
low frequency -long CPU life

@senci00: your brother is joking only with 1000MHz
@fotak-x: no, you can set higher frequencies than 864 with a modded frequency table. I made an experiment earlier and reach 921,6MHz, but:
-the phone was really unstable
-needed really cold environment (around zero celsius)
-to reach this frequency needed to extremely decrease all other frequency (axi and ahb bus), so the phone was slower
@Gogeta: basically the arm core can't produce enough heat to get physical damages due the overheating (the most critical part is the soldering what need around 280C temperature to damage, hard to reach it with 1-1,3 voltage and 100-200mA)

So we can overclock to higher value without any problem???
I mean it doesn't damages anything so we should increase value

Theoretically yes, you can set high frequencies with minimal risk. All arm cpu have extreme low power consumption (compared to the x86 cpus), the physical damage due the heat is minimal (but more than zero) The overclock ability of each 7x27 soc is different and depends on lot of thing (damages in the silicium structure, soldering quality between the core and the case, etc...). Some soc unstable on 700MHz, some working good on 800+ MHz. And the most x8 owner have "low quality" cpu, because under the manufacturing procedure all cpu tested, and the high quality cpus (what stable on 800-900MHz) marked and sold as 7x27T (turbo) with default 800MHz (this is normal, usually the manufacturers sold the damaged cpus with lower clock or disabled features, for example: you buy an i3 cpu into your desktop, but maybe the cpu manufactured as i5 with damaged core, and after disabling the damaged parts, sold as i3).

Specially while playing HD games like Modern Combat 4, The Dark Knight Rises, N.O.V.A 4 etc..............
My phone doesn't get hot more then 38-40 *C even after half and hour of HD gaming.
But I still want to know exactly what might be the max CPU and Battery Temperature limit?
Thank you.
I have T, but it's very similar phone.
The limit for the battery is around 60°C and for CPU it's around 100°C. Every temperature beyond the limit causes the phone to shut down.
Of course it's a softwate feature and you can disable this by deleting sysmon.cfg file in /system/etc but it's highly dangerous and completely unrecommended.
Hope this helps you!

i don't think you have to start a new thread to ask other question, just ask in your previous thread.
and tx(all xperia maybe) have some overheating control app in system that monitoring the thermal of the device ..you don't need to worry about it

Thank you very much. I don't worry about the temperature. But when HD gaming, i'm a little worried about the screen, cuz it gets hot too. I hope the temperature won't do any harm to my TX's screen.
I think the T and TX housing is too close to the Processor that's why it gets a little hotter rather then other phone. :cyclops:
Don't worry about the screen. It will be ok but remember not to heat your phone for a very long time because then it may damage.
Besides just take a look at PC's LCD monitors. Touch it and you will see it's pretty warm too It's normal.
And the last thing - the brighter your screen is, the faster your phone gets hot!

Thnaks for ur help. My Xperia TX never gets hot or even a little warm while Charging, Seeing Movie or Browsing. Just gets hot when high HD gaming. I am a Android game lover.
So can you tell me some ways to keep my Xperia TX as cool as possible while HD gaming.
Yes, here are some things I keep on using:
1. Lower screen's brightness when you don't need to have it bright.
2. Don't play while charging.
3. Downclock your CPU - f.e. from 1,5 GHz to 1,1 or 1,2 (don't use 1,0 GHz on JB because your phone will start to lag!). The games will still run and very good speed. In fact I don't see any differences between 1,5 GHz and 1,2 GHz especially in games like Modern Combat 4, Carmageddon etc. Your CPU will start to heat much slower.
4. Undervolt your CPU.
5. Don't play with any case etc. Another thing that "helpes" the heat not to escape out of your phone.
My setup is JB 9.1.A.0.140, 1,2 GHz, Ondemand, CFQ, UV -75mV.

I think the heating issue is common in all modern smartphones. I used HTC Smartphone like HTC Evo 3D, HTC Desire HD but they never gets hot no matter what you do with the phone. Even after hours of gaming battery temperature shows maximum 31-32 *C.
Thank you again mate.
Well that's pretty interesting
Maybe yhese smartphones have pretty big space between the CPU and the battery so even when the CPU heats up it does not heat the battery.
On the Xperia T it's very close to the battery and not covered with any radiator or a piece of metal etc so the heat can easily "access" the battery and heat it up.

What is temperature limit for xperia m4? I ask because it becomes hot even when i play hill climb racing.
My Xperia TX gets really hot while playing games, especially hd games.I can feel the hotness even from outside the protective cover. And sometimes it even gets a little warm during normal usage.I checked the temperature using an app and sometimes the temperature is 52 degree celcius.
Is that normal or should i send it to SONY?
Thanks in advance

that's normal. 2 things that make phone hot : GPU activities while playing game, and HSDPA/LTE
maximum allowed safe temperature is about 70 degree celcius
even i'm experiencing the same problem. can fry eggs :silly:
So, I overclocked my CPU frequency to 1836MHz and my GPU frequency to 450MHz and after playing a game for like 10mins, my phone gets really hot. I know its normal but I would like to ask, did I overclocked my phone too much that it can destroy my phone? And what is the overheat temperature for my phone(HTC One)? So I can monitor it.
Thank you

Yes its possible to permanently damage your phone if your overclock is too much aggressive or your phone get to hot. Every chip is slightly different so you'll have to test your phone for each frequency steps you do. Like a computer, you should start overclocking in small increments till you reach a maximum stable config and then reduce it a bit for safety. And always monitor temperature, over-temping is your worst enemy when overclocking.
For the max temp question I don't really know, you might want to check qualcomm site for max safe cpu temps. Don't forget some other components doesn't like high temperature. Semi-conductors components life are reduced in high temp conditions and generally, lithium-ion battery doesn't like high temperatures...

That overclock is not going to hurt your phone but the temperature can if it gets too high which can happen at stock clocking. I keep my phone's cpu at 1.134 Ghz and games run great with minimal heat.

Found the information about the temp here
Can anyone let me know the below temperatures for Xperia T CPU running stock rom is ok or not ok?
idle : upto 36C ish
on slight use : above 40C
on longer usage of basic apps such as whatsapp, viber, facebook: between 40 to 50C
browser: around 55C (browsing xda took it over 60C)
repost
CPU temperature is not so important, it will always be that "hot" while being on use. Battery temperature is the thing that should be important to you.
I think these values are ok, as long as your phone does not shutdown unexpectedely (with the aproppriate "Shutting down" mesaage box) - that usualy means that the temperature of both CPU and the battery is way too high and any other operations may result in their permanent damage. If you don't experience such situations then I think you shouldn't be worried about anything
Anyway I have to tell you that IMHO this phone has, in fact, some "problems" with overheating or at least with pretty high temperature than it should be normally. But I don't care, after two years of really heavy usage - it still works and it never disappointed me, I hope you won't be too
Thermal throttling will start at around 65-70C, at 80 the phone will shutdown.
These functions are hard coded in kernel, so dont worry.

Battery temperature hasn't gone beyond 40C if I remember. Only started to monitor recently. I've been using this just over two years too and never felt any heat when using it for normal usage on 4.0 and 4.1 stock roms.
Only felt it on 4.3 and downgrading after trying 4.3 uk rom 2nd time, even 4.1 now produces noticeable heat which is what's bugging me. Really regret for upgrading to 4.3 for a 2nd time :'(
The initial downgrade was done through SEUS as 4.3 wasn't released for UK then and had the blue triangle icon on some bootups but no other issue or heat.
Which rom do you use now on your device?
40C is really low value for the battery. Trust me, you really shouldn't be worried about the temperature
I was using the newest build of OmniROM until yesterday. I flashed the newest release of CM11 and I'm not disappointed.
ok, thanks. I am trying the Omega v2 rom since yesterday, but it seems to make it much warmer so might head back to 4.1

I've been using a TPU gel case since I bought the phone... and never felt any heat (apart from when trying out 4.3 but yet less than present level of heat). So seems it took 2 years for the phone to start this 'heating up' mode. I am trying to understand if it is a software issue or something to do with hardware.

I've read that almost all Sony phones heat up so it's probably a hardware issue...but since rooting and uninstalling all bloatware and disabling some of the google's services, I noticed my phone doesn't really heat up that much anymore.

Even I have rooted and disabled almost all the bloatware including some google apps (actually removed them from the system/app folder itself). This was how it was prior to 4.3 testing and had no issues. Only heated slightly for a YouTube video or so. Removed the same list of items this time around as well, but for even apps like whatsapp it heats..so something is definitely wrong... it remains cool on idle, hence not a background service that causes it.
