My Xperia TX gets really hot while playing games, especially hd games.I can feel the hotness even from outside the protective cover. And sometimes it even gets a little warm during normal usage.I checked the temperature using an app and sometimes the temperature is 52 degree celcius.
Is that normal or should i send it to SONY?
Thanks in advance
Sent from my LT29i using xda app-developers app
that's normal. 2 things that make phone hot : GPU activities while playing game, and HSDPA/LTE
maximum allowed safe temperature is about 70 degree celcius
even i'm experiencing the same problem. can fry eggs :silly:

Guys i just want to ask if what is the maximum temperature that wont harm our Galaxy S?...
my phone before Galaxy S was LG Optimus One and when i play games or downloading using 3G.. i only get around 37-39 degree Celsius.. because 40 degree Celsius can harm Optimus One phone,.. but when i bought this SGS, i found out that my phone's temperature rises up to 55 degree Celsius and i was like OMG!! my phone will explode in a minute now !!!
by the way, im using Elixir statusbar widget to see the battery temperature..

OFC it gets a bit hotter when playing games which stress CPU and GPU since there is no fan built into this phone due to aesthetic reasons
Usually this isn't a problem, don't worry.
Im using both galaxy s and galaxy s2. both of them are heating when i play games or use data 3g. It seems normal as far as I know.

Whoa then I shouldn't have to worry now =)) thanks for replying... I am not really use to it yet... I've been using Optimus One and 40° Celsius is not a good temperature for it... That's why I worried xD

Specially while playing HD games like Modern Combat 4, The Dark Knight Rises, N.O.V.A 4 etc..............
My phone doesn't get hot more then 38-40 *C even after half and hour of HD gaming.
But I still want to know exactly what might be the max CPU and Battery Temperature limit?
Thank you.
I have T, but it's very similar phone.
The limit for the battery is around 60°C and for CPU it's around 100°C. Every temperature beyond the limit causes the phone to shut down.
Of course it's a softwate feature and you can disable this by deleting sysmon.cfg file in /system/etc but it's highly dangerous and completely unrecommended.
Hope this helps you!

i don't think you have to start a new thread to ask other question, just ask in your previous thread.
and tx(all xperia maybe) have some overheating control app in system that monitoring the thermal of the device ..you don't need to worry about it

Thank you very much. I don't worry about the temperature. But when HD gaming, i'm a little worried about the screen, cuz it gets hot too. I hope the temperature won't do any harm to my TX's screen.
I think the T and TX housing is too close to the Processor that's why it gets a little hotter rather then other phone. :cyclops:
Don't worry about the screen. It will be ok but remember not to heat your phone for a very long time because then it may damage.
Besides just take a look at PC's LCD monitors. Touch it and you will see it's pretty warm too It's normal.
And the last thing - the brighter your screen is, the faster your phone gets hot!

Thnaks for ur help. My Xperia TX never gets hot or even a little warm while Charging, Seeing Movie or Browsing. Just gets hot when high HD gaming. I am a Android game lover.
So can you tell me some ways to keep my Xperia TX as cool as possible while HD gaming.
Yes, here are some things I keep on using:
1. Lower screen's brightness when you don't need to have it bright.
2. Don't play while charging.
3. Downclock your CPU - f.e. from 1,5 GHz to 1,1 or 1,2 (don't use 1,0 GHz on JB because your phone will start to lag!). The games will still run and very good speed. In fact I don't see any differences between 1,5 GHz and 1,2 GHz especially in games like Modern Combat 4, Carmageddon etc. Your CPU will start to heat much slower.
4. Undervolt your CPU.
5. Don't play with any case etc. Another thing that "helpes" the heat not to escape out of your phone.
My setup is JB 9.1.A.0.140, 1,2 GHz, Ondemand, CFQ, UV -75mV.

I think the heating issue is common in all modern smartphones. I used HTC Smartphone like HTC Evo 3D, HTC Desire HD but they never gets hot no matter what you do with the phone. Even after hours of gaming battery temperature shows maximum 31-32 *C.
Thank you again mate.
Well that's pretty interesting
Maybe yhese smartphones have pretty big space between the CPU and the battery so even when the CPU heats up it does not heat the battery.
On the Xperia T it's very close to the battery and not covered with any radiator or a piece of metal etc so the heat can easily "access" the battery and heat it up.

What is temperature limit for xperia m4? I ask because it becomes hot even when i play hill climb racing.
My Sony Xperia TX gets hot while playing games. It starts getting hot just after a gameplay of 5-10 minutes.
Is this normal. And is this providing any harm to my Sony Xperia TX ??? It gets hot from the upper side of the phone, both front and rear.
Thanks.

That Depends on The room temperature that you in if your room is some kind hot the device will become hot too but if your room isn't hot that may harm your device if you continue to play

It is normal. Just be careful though. Your phone is known to kill SDCards because of the heat

What ?
So, if I'm on under sunlight with 40°~50° C temp, it will harm my device ?
-_-
Room temperature doesn't matter, as long as human can live in there
@nafay142
It's normal, because 28 nm processing, of course, heat will be challange in here
always check your CPU temp, even TX have thermal throttle that set CPU clock scaling down when reached "danger temperature"
If your device about 50° or 55° C, I suggest do not use the phone about 5 minutes, let CPU scaling down to 40° C or lower, after that, you can use your phone again
Honestly a CPU can withstand about 100C. But of course not CPU manufacturer would let it reach that high since there is always a kill switch. So I say there is nothing to worry about. Xperia has its own thermal throttling system. You can play until your palms sweat
One thing though. If you are using some kind of casing over the back of your phone, remove it.
Well, I don't want take a risk to heat CPU to 100° C
Even if my CPU can handle that
Actually, not all CPU can handle at same clock and temperature
Everything is about luck, how lucky you get "nice" SoC
My save risk value for CPU is 70°C, but remember not all CPU can handle that, and may kill your CPU in instant way
And if CPU getting hot it means lower performance
Yea mine too but its okbsincw it will zhutoff automaticly oncs reach danger heat

I'm using Kernel Tuner
And my normal usage for using CPU is about 45° C to 51° C
Maybe more or less, the highest CPU I get when playing a 3D game is 50°C to 60°C for the most
Hi
I had a problem i was with android 4.1.2 with 1.3.7 Ultra eXistenZ today i made the update to android 4.3 eXistenZ Ultra 2.0.0 but now when I play GTA San Andreas the mobile turns off and say "Due to high temperatures the mobile phone goes off" why?
In android 4.1.2 its never hapend.
Is on stock android 4.3 keep doing this or only with eXistenZ??
Sent from my C5303 using xda app-developers app
I dont know i only try the eXistenZ i never try the stock rom.
try getting an app or widget that tells you what temperature its currently at, this way you will be able to pinpoint the temperature and monitor it, maybe its just the game or maybe its because the rom for example mine runs at 28.1 degrees celsius ( 82 degrees farhenheight? ) and when gaming shoots up to maybe 38 celsius so i know its not a software based problem because that only happened when on intensive tasks
well 23.3 degrees celsius in normal use and when i play 30 degrees celsius strange because now its not happened thanks anyway its hapend only in first boot i think thanks everybody

you can swim your devices in your sinks...:silly:
Give your phone into the fridge
Apply cold water on the battery..It should definetely work
Hey guys!!!
Here's my daily question
When I play for at least 45 minutes my phone starts overheating (special when it is charging) and it can reach 45 C and more which is annoying and terrifying
What do you usually do in order to keep the temperatures low?

If you are rooted check threads on Z2 section, there's great idea and solution for that (you'll need to undervolt your device)

Unfortunately you really can't keep them down all the way, the phone will heat up regardless, you're stressing the components by gaming, this will make them heat up.
You could try using lower clock speeds or not charging when gaming, strimming apps back, closing all unwanted / uneeded apps, lowering brightness, turning off wireless controls, taking a break more often, playing in a cold room, playing without a case.
Other than that theres not much else, maybe kernel control of the processors / GPU
