Currently I'm not an htc owner but my introduction to Android was through htc phones. Htc one looks amazing. Ive grown to like the stock Android aosp experience because of its overall speed and performance. But do like some of the add ons that some phone manufacturers have implemented.
If I owned a one I'd probably go with a debloated sense with nova launcher.
But Now that the Google editions Roms are out what have you grown to like better?

There are enough youtube videos of both roms for you to make your own mind up. Just get the phone, use sense for a couple of days, then use a GE rom for a couple of days and see which one you prefer.

All necessary said. There is no "best" or "better" in roms. Only personal preferences. So try yourself and decide.

Why is it that when I just upgrade to the HTC vivid all the devs quit working on it now I'm stuck with the phone...
Does anyone think there will be any new development for this phone or did I just waste my money? Thanks in advance also does anyone have any idea how much American Currency my White 10/10 condition S-OFFed Unlocked with Holics Rom would be worth I'm probably gonna sell it and buy a new phone like a SII or SII

Some have moved on yes and its quite from time to time but there are still some great roms , kernels , and programmes out there for the device as there is still a few good devs working on stuff , I'd give it a chance and try some out here and other forums and find one ya like , but if your a flash catholic then maybe its not the device of choice .
Good luck and enjoy .
There's a Sony xperia port in the works over at rootzwiki....
And you wouldn't get more than $300 for a perfect condition...I got mine for $225 8/10 like 4 months ago...that was the typical price...since the phone has aged...prices/demand has also dropped...
Next time before upgrading do research on more then just the hardware of the phone...

What's is the difference between a Xperia port and any other Rom and yeah I know I didn't really think of it when I bought the phone
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Tapatalk 2
Its because the device is a nightmare to develop for. Most developers have moved on to more developer friendly hardware, you can't blame them really. Aside from battery life, this is a great phone for a non techie, or an iphone user who wants to try "something else". But its not for the hardcore android fan, and its not a geeks phone at all.
My mistake buying this phone was (a) thinking sense was better than at actually was and (b) thinking I was done with custom roms and just wanted a good stable phone. The biggest mistake was extending my contract another 2 years to get it, I can correct the phone easily, Galaxy nexuses are only $350 off google play, you sell this phone on ebay, you'll get over half of it there. But being stuck with overpriced AT&T for 2 years, thats the real regret!

An xperia port is basically a Sony phone...so its whole New UI, its not sense and its not aosp...its Sony UI...whatever that is lol
But like Motorola has motoblur, Samsung has touchwiz, HTC has sense...Sony has...idk, but its getting ported
Oh yeah, its gonna be ics 4.0.4, not 4.0.3 like the rest of our rims...

How come no one has mentioned WCX? He's about the best dev for our phone and his Roms are completely stable with 0 bugs and awesome battery life and plenty of updates. Rafy is going strong with his ports too and they are good but battery life isn't as good for me so I tend to stick with WCX.

MIUI is a lot like iOS, in so far as it doesn't have a app drawer, but it maintains all the functionality of a custom ROM, and it massively customisable to boot. If you prefer something that feels close to what you've come from, there's a decent custom build of the latest ICS version here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1912064
Word of warning: whilst all the Jellybean ROMs that are available for our device are very smooth, they're all quite buggy. I wouldn't say they're quite up to daily driver standards yet.
pff iPhone users... haha okay, Sense 4 is the best way to go imo, so try Project X or ViperVIVO as soon as it comes out
Where is all the love? I kinda thought we would have a much larger community of AOSP roms here. I think a made a decision picking up the HTC one. Lol. I wish I had spare time to develop roms for the community.

There is, but not as much as I thought there would be considering HTC GPE is right down the forum road. Just curious. But I will try to put some stuff out here. I do it for my personal use only. This is my first attempt on an HTC device.

Just remember... GPe is NOT AOSP. It's still the same ol' Sense kernel... It just /looks/ like AOSP. And, additionally, we have a functioning GPe ROM port for our Sprint Ones floating around.
We also have a really stable CM 10.2 nightly which I'm using as my daily driver.
Can't wait to see what you come up with.
I have a proposal that might get a good bit of hate but I want to see If any devs would work with me on it.
I want a port if HTC Sense 6 to the N5.
But can It even happen? I mean you see stock ported all the time but could you port something like sense?
That would be awesome

"stock" doesnt get ported to any nexus device, since they run "stock" default. to port sense to a nexus is extremely hard as it needs htc's framework, and if it does happen it would be partially if any bit at all. this will take lots of time and effort! and considering sense is not open source, you will not have any direct access to its code. anyways, considering that people are still trying to port the last version of sense, i wish you good luck.
I encourage all development but this might be quite difficult with closed sources and the framework. If XpLoDWilD can hack into the snap dragon processor and enable always listening from the low powered core then this is possible as well. I doubt devs of that caliber will focus on porting sense to a specific device non htc device though.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
well, you need damn good smali and hex knowledge, as you need to modify the bootstrap in a special lib and add support for s800 ://
it is possible but hard to achieve (well, last word is maybe incorrect, im sorry for that )
Best regards,
OldDroid
I doubt that you will ever see it happen. Which is too bad because of all of the different overlays Sense is by far the best. Unfortunately HTC is not particularly forthcoming with the source code for, well....anything. Having come from the Amaze (Ruby) HTC proved to be very difficult to deal with.
this would be amazing.. loved sense 6 the second I saw it.. but it would be great even if I got a kind of launcher at least. Stock android is great too
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Sense is closed source.
They are releasing blinkfeed in the playstore in the coming weeks/ months. You could easily download a sense like launcher and icons. I did play with the newest m8 at the ATT store and I can say I was very impressed. You could also make the clock widget in zooper, combine all that with blinkfeed and you have yourself an almost sense experience.
Go buy the "new" HTC One

It's possible, but it would be extremely difficult and would require reverse engineering of the libs and some binaries, as well as likely needing a fully modified kernel and ramdisk. By the time it got fully stable, if it ever did, we would probably be at the release of sense 7.

Good job! I came here to link to that thread.
For anyone confused by the title, check out this post in the thread.
In my several years on XDA, I've seen a few attempts to port OEM skins (usually Sense and Touchwiz) to devices from other manufacturers. Of those attempts, exactly zero of them were successful. As much as I'd like to see this (and I would - Sense is actually pretty awesome), it's just not going to happen.

This is really cool, and I hope it ends up working. As of right now, it's only partially functional, which is about as far as most of these ports get.
Don't get me wrong - I'm pretty excited about the possibility of this. It's just that I've seen a lot of these before, and they always end up going dead after a promising start. Here's to hoping this one is different.

No. That question is based on a personal basis and is not allowed on XDA.

There is no such thing as a "best" rom... there is only personal taste... Try different rom and see what the have to offer that you like...I personally like to stay as close to stock as possible so I don't like roms that have for example the app side bar....but you might.
yeah I understand why youre asking but at the end of the day the best rom for you is the one you like best.
I currently use stock it does what I need until there is an option I am missing or a rom with a far and away performance boost im cool with that.
Just ask yourself what specific things do I want?
Look for a rom with those. If there arent any specific ones do what was mentioned and look for 3 or 4 roms that you find interesting and dive right in
Oh and Backups = Awesome!
While i agree with everything said.
If you specify what your after in a rom. We could point you to one that fits the bill.
I personally like stable with everything and the kitchen sink.
Currently using euphoria and extremely happy.
What car is the best? ...... see
It's subjective. There is no best rom, that's like asking what's the best shoe to wear? Everybody has their own choices.
Its your responsibility to see what's out there and then give them a try.
