Only used SanDisk so can't really comment on the others. In my experience they are pretty good, budget-wise you might be better off with a Transcend or something though.

I have a corrupted new 64 GB Sandisk Ultra Class 10.
My advice is make a full search here in General and Q&A threads about SD Cards before buying, because a great number of Xperia users are unhappy with their incompatible / corrupted SD Cards, especially the SanDisk ones.
Definitely Sandisk (the ultra)I use them in all xperias, no issue so far altought I don't use the 64Go it's too big for my use, 32Go is enough.
http://www.myshopping.com.au/ZM--12...IA_Type_HD_32GB_microSDHC_UHS_I_Card_Class_10
Based on my experience, here is the rank I suggest:
1) Sandisk 2) Toshiba 3) Kingston 4) Transcend
...and I also strongly suggest, only choose between Sandisk and Toshiba.
Am currently using a Sandisk 64GB on my Z for media like songs and videos, which I carried along from my Note (my very first android; then followed by Ion / V / TX) since day one, and a 32GB one for Titanium's and NAND backups. Both never encounter any problem... so far.
thanks guys for the helpful comments....i will buy a sandisk 32 Gb...

Put it straight in the phone and it will do it all for you.
When I bought my Sandisk 32GB and 64GB, both were formated with FAT32 out of the box.
Problem with FAT32 is that it won't support over 4GB a file.
If you have no intention to put over 4GB a file (like video) onto the card, you can just leave it as is and use it right away without doing anything.
If you're planning to put over 4GB a file onto the card, format it with exFAT with you computer by using a card adapter. XZ can read exFAT natively since 4.2.2.
You can also format your card with NTFS. Like exFAT, it also supports over 4GB a file. However, XZ can't read this file system thus you need to root and install a third party app like "Paragon exFAT, NTFS & HFS+" in order to read.
My suggestion is, use exFAT, since it's more versatile, and is natively supported.

I been reading up a lil bit on this since the extended capacity sounds incredible, especially for HD2 users who have no real built in space.
and Wikipedia says SDHC compatible devices can use sdxc with UHS104 speeds, but not with the newer sd 4.0 specification.
Will the HD2 be capable of SD 4.0 with a firmware update or is this solely a hardware incompatability?
Hardware in HD2 will not accept it.
hello
Is there someone who really tested 64 or 128 GB SDXC, on HD2?

Well, unless installing WP 7.5 changes the hardware, that's bollox.
Does anyone know if a HD2 running WM6.5 supports 64GB microSDXC cards? As in has anyone tried it?
The HD2 can only handle up to a 32GB SD card. whether that would be SDXC or SDHC I'm pretty sure that wouldn't matter.

Good
Recognizes the HTC HD2 if micro sd 64 gb and I have a dual boot and I have not given me any problems
To be recognized only be formatted in FAT32
regards
I ordered a 64GB micro-SDXC card from amazon.co.uk a week ago for GBP45.39 (found on HotUkdeals). Arrived today (was listed as "usually despatched within 1 - 4 weeks"), h2testw confirms capacity, and works fine in my HD2 running WM6.5 (Energy ROM), which shows capacity as 60906MB.
I don't understand why so many jump in saying a 64gb card wouldn't work when they obviously haven't tried. i would assume that it work fine as long as its formatted fat32... Any android phone should accept 64gb cards as well. the only difference between sdhc & sdxc is the formatting Im pretty sure. sdxc is formatted exFat of something like that, but its easy enough to reformat anyway you'd like with a computer.

I have the Sandisk 64GB microSDXC Class 6 and it just works as a 32GB Samsung Class 10. The Sandisk is just a little bit slower in Benchmarks but in my phone I can't feel any difference; besides of the double of space. ;-)
SanDisk Mobile Ultra MicroSDXC 64GB works
I installed the Tytung ICS build on a SanDisk Mobile Ultra MicroSDXC 64GB.
Works fine! Just needs to be farmatted in Fat32

YES you absolutely can run a 64GB microSDXC in an HD2. At least I can verify that with WM6.5.5. I am using the SanDisk 64GB class 10 micro SDXC card in my HD2. The phone does read the full 64GB and can access it all. You do have to reformat it first as it is in exFAT which can't be read. It needs to be formatted in FAT32. The kicker with that if you try to format in your PC, MS has deemed that FAT32 is 32 GB max and if you use the inbuilt format in any version of Windows, it will only format it in exFAT or NTFS. I also tried using a program called SDFormatter but it would not allow me to format in FAT32 either. There is a way to do it from a DOS command but... I ended up using EaseUS Partion Master Home Edition, which is a free program. It worked a charm, and was very fast as well, Then I xxcopy'ed my SD card contents onto the new 64GB card and installed it in my phone. Both my WM 6.5.5 and my SD Android 2.2 are working perfectly, though the Android may be just a bit slower now and then. Both my 32GB and my 64GB are class 10s. I use XXcopy to keep a backup of my SD card on my computer, just in case. I update the backup every couple weeks or if I have updated anything significantly (which seems to be all the time with Android apps). I am running Core Cell Evo v4.1 and CoreDroid v.08. Here are the links to Partition Master http://www.partition-tool.com/download.htm and XXcopy http://www.xxcopy.com/xcpydnld.htm
Here is a screenshot from my HD2 when it was booted into Android.
So very cool, and now my HD2 in both WM 6.5 and Android modes thanks you
128 GB ? OK, will be my next try, then !
I just received my SanDisk SDSDQUA-064G-U46A 64 GB micro SD XC card and been using it for three days now.
To make sure it will work flawlessly, just do the following :
- Use the phone formatting tool (it will format the card in FAT32)
- When restoring your data to the card, don't overwrite the "Application Data" folder nor the "EncFiltLog.menc" file that will have been put on the card root after formatting.
- Check it's Ok by launching an SD android ROM. If you can browse the memory card's contents, you win. Else, just try again from the beginning !
Anyway, both the HD2 and Windows Mobile are fully SD XC compatible, at least up to 64 GB (really NEED to test for 128 GB now ! ), so don't trust people saying they're not !
maybe you can try to partition the SD in multiple partitions of 32GB each... so you can easily use a fat32 file system.
just one question..do is possible to use a 64gb ntfs? Because my SanDisk 32gb class 10 uhs1 is formatted using NTFS and works really well, so I think you could be able to use a 64GB NTFS formatted
I don't think so.
Windows mobile doesn't recognize NTFS (should have been an add-on, if only developpers hadn't stopped producing for this platform), and Android is Linux (Debian) based, so would rather use ext2 / ext3, and of course, FAT and FAT32, that fortunately stay the common links between all worlds...
Edit : Wait, is your card really NTFS formatted ? Windows should automatically choose FAT32 when formatting up to these sizes. I hadn't heard of Windows Mobile being able to read it. It can't read an USB disk in NTFS from Cotulla or Zeno Sloim USB host driver, for instance.
I even tried to format EXFAT32 on my HD2, with no luck. So FAT 32 only, but din't lost room in the process of formatting 64 GB in FAT32. My 32 GB card was almost full, and I earned a full 32 GB storage, so there's no visible cluster waste.
It's even much faster than the old 32 GB card (I bought one of the first that came available form Sandisk), despite the larger volume and allocation tables.
Highly recommended upgrade for people lacking room... It's totally stable, fast and reliable.
Now your idea to format in 2 chunks is good too. Anyway, Windows Mobile could manage them, so why not ? Maybe to be tried when 128 GB cards will become available !

They are quite cheap, you can get them for like 50$ or something, though I wouldn't advice on buying from ebay.
64GB SD cards will work on any Android phone as long as it is in the FAT32 format.

Why dont u try and change it to exFAT instead of FAT 32? Check the method posted in GENEREAL section.

Hi Guys,
Do you guys able to write to exFat formatted 64GB MicroSD card from Windows7/8? I mounted the card from XZ as a storage and I can see the content of the card but not able to perform any write operations.
Any advise?
Thanks.
I have a rather funny problem tho is that when I copy videos on the card, it wont play on my XZ the first time I insert the card, so I put it back in the card reader in the laptop, played every videos from start, and skip to the last minute, still plays, so no problem with sdcard, that 8gb videos, put back in to phone, and the videos now all plays perfect, wonder why that is.... this is with the 64gb sdxc
also when it doesnt play the video the phone loses the card then mount it back on again, gonna try exFat and see how that goes
result: no problem so far... copied all the backed up from old sdcard on t it, have album on screen while copying and everything pops up very quickly, all videos play perfect, all images perfect, 8gb on it so far, would take a while to fill the card
i bought a samsung 64gb with 70mbps read speed. The newest apparently... not sure if i feel for some marketing trick but whenever i read from sdcard i have never had any lag...
i recommend if you can afford the $70 - $90 price tag

I had the choice between a superfast 32gb sdcard(sandisk extreme 80mb/S) and a normal 64gb card so I took the 32gb card simply because I hate to wait on the progress bar when moving things.
So would exFAT support also apply on a 32gb card? I mean it should right?

Did you check the speed of that card and the transfer rate that Z1 supports?
I want to buy a Sandisk but I don't know whether to buy Extreme (80Mb/sec read/50MB/sec write) or Extreme Pro (95Mb/sec read/90MB/sec write)
can somebody with a high speed microSD card measure the transfer rate with "SD Tools" for example and post here?

Ran a quick test and both write and read is around 40mb/s on my SanDisk Extreme 32gb card. An extreme pro card would do difference if you connect it to pcs alot.
I'm on my phone so sorry for not being able to embed the pic, open the link
The card supports 80MB/sec read and 50MB/sec write, so according to your post, if the trasfer read/write rate is 40MB/sec, maybe there is a limit of 40MB/sec on SD card slot of Z1.
Thanks a lot my friend, you covered me.[

From what I gathered from that app pretty much so. The limit seems to sit at 40/40mb which is pretty fast actually in my opinion - I already knew that there was no way that I could reach 80-90mb/s in reading speed but I did think that 30-35mb/s would be maximum.
But as I said, if you transfer over large files from a usb 3.0 connected sd card reader from your PC time will fly by with this card. because the write speed is excellent!

So the Sandisk Extreme 45MB/sec read/write will be ok with the device, no reason to buy to more expensive 80MB/sec
I got a Kingston 64 gig microSDXC (so-called 'class 10'), works fine. read/write is 35 & 15 mb/sec, respectively.
yes i test and work
It works for me too! Too bad you can't install apps on it without root access.
I've been having a lot of trouble with my new Xperia Z1.
I tried two different micro SD cards, one of 64gb and the other 8gb.
When I transfer music using Media Go, most of it can't be played or fast forwards(damaged files).
Photos I took were deleted a short while afterwards, others were damaged and could not be viewed.

The trademark never heard before so I will not risk, if you want a high transfer rate go for Sandisk Ultra but I remind you that the Hardware slot for microSD on Xperia Z1 is limited to 40mb/s in writing and reading so even if you buy a 100mb/s MicroSD you will use 40mb/s only in any case so spend money for an expensive card in this case is useless.

The two card are good and what you should do is to buy a card whit 40-50mb/s in Reading and Writing to have the best performance. Card with high Reading transfer rate it's easy to find and they are cheap but the card have to have also minimum 40mb/s in writing and here you will have to spend more. If the Sony specifications are 40mb/s in both then it will be the right one, check very careful when you buy them because it can be in reading only. But if you find Sandisk with the same specification then go for sandisk.

The microSD in this case is essential but if you will use that card for games data, with 16gb you will end soon to have it full. Today any games are around 2gb each. I will recommend to buy a 32gb minimum.

After android 4.0 ICS Google disabled app2sd feature.
now u can just install apps/games with all their data to internal storage.
u can find just Galaxy S4 & Note3 that have this feature. (and maybe S3 with JB 4.3)
But, 16GB (12GB for user) is enough to install 3-4 FHD game and 7-8 normal game and 30-40 apps
however more storage is always better but i don't think thr s someone who want to install games and app and never uninstall them!
:good:

He can Root the Z1 and use Folder Mount. The option Move to SD also will available soon. You saying this like if he can't he should not buy any SD for Z1.
Of course he can do it by root access.
But how do u know this feature will available again??!?!?

Developers are working on it. If it will not be available officially on KitKat, they will find a way anyway.
Have a SanDisk 64GB Ultra and it was the best damn money I've ever spent. Just throwing that out there.

Hello has anyone here tested if the Xperia Z supports the new 128gb SDXC-Cards?
I know that officially the Xperia-Z just works with cards up to 32gb but have also already read about 64gb Cards being used without any problem.
And if it should work with 128gb cards, then i rather buy the 128 instead of the 64gb SDXC as those should be future-proof.

It'd be great if it did. I know it works with 64GB cards as I've got one in mine at the moment. Sadly I can't afford to splash out on a 128GB card yet so I can't test.
Anybody else know?
Yea they are still kinda pricey, i guess it would still be more affordable to buy 2x64gb SDXC rather than one 128gb, but if you have a quite large music-collection there is no real alternative.
I was used to about 128gb (total capacity) on my old SGS3 before, and it was really convenient to have the music-library just a swipe away
Therefore iam looking for the same on the XperiaZ.
Lets see if someone here has the spare-parts to test
I too would like some feedback on this if possible, I am looking at buying a Xperia Z to go with my 128 GB MicroSD card I just bought, the ONLY use for this device will be as a media player, so don't want to get it for that intended use and it not do what I want.
I know this thread is almost a year old but I thought it's worth adding a new post to it.
I've just taken delivery of a 128GB SDXC card. It was on sale and I figured I'd risk it.
And it works! I slotted it into my XZ and suddenly I had huge amounts of storage space!
So yes, it works. Go get one now!!

Where did you get one of those from? I could do with a bigger card, mine is getting very full already..
It should work, in theory. Technically, if a phone can use a Micro SD card, it can use any capacity of Micro SD card.

No it depends on cpu and phone's ram. there could be unsupported sd card massage or some lag issues. even 1tb card is now available. I'm using a 64gb with no problem, but it's never enough for hd recording.
If you'd like to know the app for cvr try Recam.apk I don't know any better app, sth more complete eg for auto replacing old files and more quality options...
