Hi, I have a hboot 1.54 HTC One, Can I use the All in One toolkit to unlock the bootloader or do I need to go the htcdev route?
Once unlocked and assuming I have to use htcdev can I then use the toolkit to flash cwm recovery?
Thanks for any help in advance.

The AIO toolkit uses htcdev to unlock. And yes, the toolkit can install recovery.

OK that makes sense, on the toolkit page it has the "register at htcdev" bit crossed out, so just wanted to confirm it was still required.
Thanks for your help.

Well, there are only two ways to unlock, via htcdev or the revone s-off exploit (which doesn't work with 1.54 hboot). I don't know if the toolkit incorporated revone as I've never used toolkits or AIO solutions for my phone modding. Unlocking this phone is very easy.

Yeah the toolkit uses revone which I know doesn't currently work with hboot 1.54. So I don't get to have s-off for now.

You can't take an OTA on an unlocked bootloader. You must have stock bootloader and stock recovery.
Yes. You just have to relock the bootloader with fastboot oem lock, grab the OTA, then send the unlocktoken to re-unlock. The firmware update will update your hboot and whatnot, however, and you won't be able to downgrade with a RUU. In theory, you could use a RUU for the new OTA but one is not available.
Good news, however, is that revone s-off does function with the updated hboot. I just s-off'd about 5 minutes ago with the new hboot and revone 0.2.1.

Really, I've read that Revone does not work with .31 software version.

That's the way I did it earlier today. Failed in a terminal window on the phone but worked fine using shell via adb. Took about three minutes with zero errors. Your results may vary, but I successfully installed the OTA from Sprint, installed the stock rooted rom, then revone s-off with no errors.

Did you HTC DEV Unlocked before you S-Offer and which version of Revone did u use 0.2 or 0.2.1?
I get a "segmentation fault" fail/error...
Thanks for you help man...

Omg people stop spreading that you have to relock the BL to take an OTA. You do not need to relock the boot loader, you only need to have stock recovery and stock system apps
I always run all my phones with rooted stock and take every OTA with an unlocked boot loader just fine
If you are relocking the BL then you are adding unnecessary steps to the process. You also do not have to s-on for an OTA I have seen some saying you must s-on too... Let's stop spreading the incorrect info

I unlocked via HTCDev, and used 0.2.1. I used it via ADB shell, I did not use it on the phone itself.
Also contrary to what the guy above me said, I had to RELOCK THE BOOTLOADER to accept the OTA, it failed otherwise on two seperate Ones.

That's weird, my sprint one and two friends with T-Mobile also took ota without relocking it, also never had to relock my nexus7, galaxy nexus, evo4g, evo3d or evo shift. I do know that you must relock it to use an RUU tho
I guess there is no telling what variables are out there... I have also seen people say you must be s-off to flash recovery which should only require unlocked BL go figure....

Unlocking the bootloader and SOFF are different. Unlock through HTC then use revone with adb shell and you shouldn't have any problems.

Yep understand they are 2 different things. But my understanding of the REVONE exploit was that you could unlock the boot loader and achieve root access w/o HTC DEV Unlock and of course S-OFF. At least you could before the .31 update.

I can't comment on revone before 1.31, but it does fail for me without being dev unlocked.
I have an at&t HTC One that I am trying to falsh the Google Play Edition RUU to. I have the bootloader unlocked via the HTC DEV website. I have TWRP Recovery installed. I am seeing **Tampered** when it boot into fastboot, and my phone is still showing that it is S-ON.
I have tried Revone and moonshine to make the device S-OFF but neither worked. I am thinking once I obtain S-OFF the **Tampered** will go away.
Is their another way to obtain S-OFF for this device, outside of Moonshine and Revone??

What's your hboot version and date? If you're on 1.44 May 2013 or prior it should work, if you're on 1.44 June (ATT or T-Mob) there's a way to downgrade, and if you're on 1.54 then, sorry, but it won't work.

That looks like the patched 1.44, if you're ATT or T-Mobile, there are ways to downgrade. I haven't used them, but many reported success: check the guide I posted above for the links to downgrade.

You can't flash recovery through TWRP, you must use fastboot.

I found an ATT RUU to use to get back to stock
I re-locked my bootloader, so now I show ***RELOCKED***
HBOOT version is 1.44.0000 dated May 3, 2013
What should be the next steps? This is my guess:
Unlock bootloader
Root device
S-Off using either moonshine or revone

Just use revone to unlock and S-Off, it has a temproot exploit.
If that doesn't work, you can try your method.

You can try without unlocking and rooting, it sometimes improves chances but you might as well try without first, could just work "straight of of the box" :fingers-crossed:
check these guides:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365506
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2431515
and obviously the OP from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314582
in case it doesn't work without unlocking & rooting, then yes, go ahead unlock via HTCdev again, flash a rooted Sense 5 Android 4.1.2 ROM, and try revone again until it succeeds. with hboot 1.44 May 2013 it should work
Good luck

I got the failed to map memory error when just using revone
I have been looking and searching but have not found a way to just root my phone without using HTCdev in any way. Am I right when I say that the only way to root is to unlock bootloader through HTCdev and then flashing a ROM that is already rooted? Cause I can't find anything else on rooting an HTC One...
You can do this if you have 1.44 hboot for use the "revone" tool.
Which hboot do you have?

1.54 unfortunately New phone. Really don't want HTC to track my phone and I could live with locked bootloader untill 1.54 is cracked but I want root access for several things (backup, LBE Privacy Guard etc.)
So, atm, the only solution for you is HTCDev or wait.
Ok, thanks mate.

Thanks in advance.

Yes. As you are S-OFF, you can flash a RUU based on 1.44 HBOOT, and use Revone to root/unlock bootloader without going with HTC Dev (assuming that is your goal) You will lose all data however.

Is there a way to unlock the bootloader on the HTC ONE M8 from Sprint to gain root access without having to use HTCDev?
Basically, I just want to gain root so I can use WiFi Tethering while keeping stock ROM.
Check out the sticky in Dev.
I found the thread that appears to talk about it without using HTCDev, but it requires S-Off: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708571
I thought s-off on this phone was only accomplished once the bootloader was unlocked, which requires HTCDev?

Temproot only works for Verizon I believe, you will have to devunlock to root unfortunately.
