Hi,
After losing all the data on my phone I decided to use an old backup made from TWRP.
Now I sucessfully restored my backup to my phone and see that all the icons are in place.
But to my dismay it didn't restore the "USB storage" only the "System storage"
Shouldn't it backup *everything* on my phone?
In the USB storage I have my game/apps data and save game files.
I'm 100% sure I selected everything when backing up my phone.
Thanks.
This once happened to me too... and soon after that day I began using Titanium Backup Pro....
Weird.
I dont have this issue when i backup/restore with CWM.
It mustn't restore USB storage which means internal SD card.Only /data,/system,and,eventually,/preload.
I do use Titanium for my apps.
Is there a way or a seperate program that will make an "image copy" of my usb storage?

I went and bought Sprite Backup and when I try to backup my pda from my computer or inside the tilt itself it fails. When I attempt to backup from my computer the tilt shows a white background then goes back to the today menu and if I try from the pda it fails. I installed sprite backup to my memory card, that might be the issue. I am not sure.
If anyone has a clue, thanks.
I am using it fine with my Tilt. I have it installed in main memory.
As what pete_c said install in memory.
Sprite Backup only works manually!!!
I have Sprite Backup set to do automatic backups every night, and save the files to the storage card. However, the program continues to try and save the files to the main memory! I then get an error message since I don't have enough room on the device for the file (about 70mb).
However, when I perform a manual backup (with the same settings) it saves to the storage card with no problem.
sprite backup
In the manual option of the Sprite backup i notice there is a PC option. When I have it connected to my pc (running vista and windows device center) the phone restarts and says can not connect. Any advise?
Hi guyz,
I have a strange issue...
I have Sprite Backup v6.5.4 Build 2 installed on my Diamond. When I connect my phone to the PC via USB cable (as a external HD) and I pull the cable out, it automatically starts Sprite Backup! Has anyone experienced this before?
I can close it, but it happends every time, which gets quite annoying...
Thanks in advance!
Do you have any backup files stored in the root of your internal storage? Try moving them.
If the problem persists, try uninstalling Sprite Backup and reinstall, maybe in main memory not internal storage.
solved....?

Hey Dave,
Thanks for your reply!
I didn't have any backups in the root. And I have Sprite installed on my internal memory. But I think I solved it...
The Sprite that started automatically was in fact an OLDER version than the one I have now. I didn't notice that until recently. I recently flashed my ROM so I knew for sure that no old version of Sprite could be on my main memory. So I looked on my internal memory. I found a folder named "2577". This is a folder that Sprite created, I think for restore purposes when Sprite is installed on the internal memory. In this folder I found alot of files of the old version of Sprite (I recently installed the new version). I replaced these with the new files of Sprite and now the problem doesn't seem to occur anymore...
I'll just see how it goes from now on...
Hope this helps for anyone who experiences this same issue.
Hi all, recently my SGS software crashes and need to reflash the phone, due to that all my data was gone. I check my PC for backup but the only file i found was a file named <MessageViewer001 - SME file> found in the Kies Folder. How can I restore it? I try using Kies but it doesnt seems to have an application to do it. Please help on this matter. Thanks.
It sounds like you didn't actually do any sort of backup (with kies or apps).
My guess is, your data is lost - the file you mentioned seems some sort of temporary (just a wild guess).
Kind regards,
ww
Webwude is right
you never backed up = TRUE = you wiped all your data .
An outside chance is to try Recuva and see if any data is recoverable .
RTFM holds true .

Remember, do daily or weekly Titanium and Nandroid backups and delete backups more than a month old unless you need them.
It is time you will consider wasted...until you need the backup. It removes a lot of the tension as you flash and reflash to know you have a nandroid backup that can get your phone back up in 10 minutes...and Titanium backups of all the apps you love.
Hi kk_xiii
I was in that same tight spot as you are in right now. I did manage to recover a lot of my data by using the following method:
1. Make sure you do not copy any more data to your phone. in fact stop using it right now!
2. find a decent data recovery tool (i used an old version of Easeus i had laying around. It can search for RAW data)
3. connect to your pc using mass storage mode (settings > wireless and networking > usb > mass storage)
4. your drive(s, if external sd is present) should be showing in windows explorer
5. fire up your data recover tool and let it scan your galaxy's internal memory.
6. recover data
7. make sure you backup next time!!
As mentioned before, i managed to recover almost all my data using this method. I hope this helps.
After many months of using this phone I've slowly started to fill my my internal storage/internal SD/External SD. And even after flashing new roms the space is still taken up with 0 programs installed. Well I know that it's all still there, but how can I get rid of all the data that the apps have made over time? I believe with enough titanium restores I may have duplicate data on the internal and external SD, but obviously my phone is only reading from one of them.
Also, if I remove everything (excluding the backups from titanium), and then restore them with titanium backup, will they restore just fine, or does titanium rely on that data to still be there?
Just do Factory Reset and Format your phone's memory from the Storage settings... Your phone will empty up
You can titanium backup what you want then plug the phone in the PC on USB mode and copy the titanium backup folders (2 total files 1 zip and 1 folder) somewhere u can remember onto the computer then proceed with the factory reset and format the memory. After you finish the format then move the titanium backup back on the phone memory

Thanks for the replies.
I ended up starting from a newly flashed rom, then deleted all the contents of my .androidsecure folder. Then used titanium backup to restore the apps I wanted.
I'm on teamsgsics rc4.2 What i noticed is that I still have folders bearing the names of previous apps I used to have when I was on Froyo and later GB. Is there any possibility to delete everything without losing the actual rom? can I access sd card from my pc while it's in recovery mode? I really hate looking at these traces of uninstalled apps. Efficient suggestions please!
You mean folders created by apps that you uninstalled on your SD card? Delete them manually via PC by connecting your phone via USB cable.
Or use Root Explorer.
Delete them ... nothing happens .. it is normal that you are because you do not go to delete the folders ..
The best thing i find is to copy your backups and your photos to your computer, and then format your sd card (settings/storage).
Usually when you change roms your do a wipe/factory reset this will therefore clear the system partition and will not have old app data..
After formatting you can copy back the essential data and restore your backups e.g. SMS messages.
I usually make backups, copy the backup files and pictures to PC, factory reset phone and format sd card then flash
You can backup everything to your PC with MyPhoneExplorer . Its free but requires App install on PC plus a download to your device from Android Market.
Make sure phone is in USB Debugging mode if using USB cable.
you can try to use the "Corps find" function of "sdmaid" free on market!
