hey, so i don't know if this has been mentioned already (forgive me if it has), but my dad's Samsung Galaxy S keeps locking up (in sleep mode, and i can't wake it up) and requires a battery pull+reboot to get it working again. this happens randomly every few weeks, and it's really getting on my nerves.. it's running on MIUI, but i noticed this issue on all of the other ROMs i flashed on it, as well as on the stock ROM.
is there a fix for this? or am i the only one that has this issue?
Kill all runing apps. Before going into sleep this should help!

did that... still does it D:
I would go trough 3-file odin flash with pit+partition to make sure, that everything is working properly. Maybe even trough JM9 (eclair) to some 2.2.1 (JSD maybe)...if GB features aren't needed.
Btw..you don't need to pull battery when bsod happens..just keep power button pressed for 10 seconds (it's little easier.. )

lol thanks for the tip
I just installed CyanogenMod 9 RC (Build 2) by arco68 on my samsung galaxy S+
and all is fine except when i try to reboot from the reboot menu (in normal reboot or in download mode or in recovery). When i try this the phone reboot but blocks at the samsung logo and never go ahead. I have to switch off the phone by pressing the power button a long time and after the switch it on.
I have also another question about kernel. I have to uodate the kernel separately from the ROM and if yes which on to choose ?
Thanks
Eric

I only can help you with the second question
Yes you have to update only kernel if you want to switch to another one
If you want a 2.6 kernel try the CastagnaIT 7.4 CFS extreme UV kernel and if you want 3.0 kernel you could try the one by jaggyjags but its a bit laggy. Its in the jaggyjags kernel thread in the attachments
Hope i helped
About first question, deactivated touch sound and dial pad sound from settings => sounds. And try, that should help you.
Thanks now it works fine. Is it a bug?

This is the comment from another cm9 thread, this applies for Arco's cm9 as well:
FM radio (you can use Spirit FM Free with Audio->Method = "qdsp5v2 Altern", there isn't an FM Radio app in CM9)

Hey guys, simple problem, NO solution.
Why does youtube freeze my phone? It starts by bumping alot at playback, sometimes it goes OK but others...forget, i even have to remove the battery!! Phone totally freezes.
Any solutions?
Im running 4.1.2 I9070XXLPZ
I have the same on xxlpz many times, update to xxlq4 + root + thunderzap kernel + remove bloatwares and you will get rid of it but it is still lag but no freeze anymore...
Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda app-developers app
i use JB XXLPZ too..
But my youtube is normal, didn't lag
try reinstall youtube
Use xxlq4

XXLQ4 -> root -> CoCore-E-4.2
Haven't had any freezes since I installed it 2-3 days ago.
1.Flash latest firmware I9070XXLQ4.
2.Root your phone.
3. Install any custom kernel (CoCore, isiri, Thunderzap...)
This may help you.
Samsung Galaxy S Advance
Rom : Jelly Bean 4.1.2 I9070XXLQ4
Kernel: CoCore E-4.2-TWRP
Thanks but what are the advantages of putting kernel?

It's still power + home button only. Just holds it for about 1 or 2 seconds.

Hello guys, want to share what happen with my SIII Mini
I just receive ota for my mini SIII to version 4.1.2
in the previous version (4.1.1), i could not go into recovery mode by keys combination
but after the update, i access to recovery by holding volume up + home + power, still holding until seeing android logo :good:
so people if you want to access recovery mode by keys combination, WITHOUT OTHER PARTY, just update your mini SIII to 4.1.2 through OTA or Kies (almost all carrier are updated) or Odin
So we have Root, CWM, recovery access........ hoping seeing true ROMs for this device :good:
Its not that easy making roms. Yes we have root and cwm and thats a few steps forward but these devs are doing this all in there spare time so cut em some slack and be patient.... We will soon see some good things coming from this phone.

So is that other method. It came from an S3 Mini with working 3 button combination, so it's pretty much pure as it gets.
