[Q] My LG OB is getting hot. Is this normal? - LG Optimus Black

Hello there
My LG Optimus Black is getting hot around the ear piece
This happens when charging the device or using It for long time in a heavy app like youtube or gaming.
Is this normal or I have to visit the service center?
I am using IZS v1.1
Interactive governor
Max freq is 1 Ghz & Min freq is 300 Mhz
Thanks in advance & Sorry for my bad English.

Same for me, sometimes it's up to 50C when i use it while charging.

On the other hand ,that also means that much heat is getting off the phone, instead of staying inside and damaging it,thats physhics.

Well, I think that the USB cable is getting hot due to delivering electriciy then this heat is transfered to the phone.
But Is It normal to getting hot during using heavy apps due to processor over-heating.
The question is "This is a normal situation or we have a problem with our CPU??"

Good point by the way.

Its normal.

Usual, not normal. Cpu is much hotter than the rest of the phone. And it dies at 70°C. Battery heatting as charging and cpu at max should not damage the phone, if it's getting to 50°C, leave it iddle, no?

Overheating

Hello
The day before I got my Lg O2X and am now experiencing overheating (I think). The app which I have installed shows 42C while charging the battery is a bit warm.
Can anyone suggest me a good app so that I can confirm it?
And yeah I live in India so temperature is a bit high over here 32C when I posted this.
Update: I just noticed as the battery reached 90% charging it started to cool down at the moment it is at 36.7C at 96% (with no change in placement of the phone).
Ya man..the battery of every device heats up while charging and yes i also live in India and if u use ur phone while recharging it goes upto 42°C..
Try not using while charging..
Cheers

i have spare battery's and a external charger ebay... only cost about 12 US dollars.
Takes less time to charge..mine charges in like an hour..i either sleep during that time or i switch on my pc or tv

Battery life sucks too on the stock rom :/

Just buy some spare batteries 2.80usd shipped each. And external battery wall charger $3.50

I guess installing a custom rom would also help.
Im the meanwhile I‘ll get an extra battery.

Do note that heat is directly proportionate to the amount of power the phone uses. Generally I find custom roms/kernels to be more power hungry than the standard ones.

Mine overheates only while I'm playing and charging in the meanwhile, or in car, navigating and charging.. It's a lot of battery consumption and totally normal..
Leaked GB 20i (topogigi) has a good battery life, the only thing is a battery drain in data mode, but for instance wifi is going really well!

Most people say it makes their battery cycle longer and battery rarely goes to 40C!

Display heats up

Hey guys,
In some cases my display heats up very fast. Can't touch it for a while. Can anyone confirm that? I don't do a lot, just text a SMS or something...
Thanks in advance

Is the whole screen heated up or just a part of it (possibly only top or bottom of the screen)? What were you doing before it started heating up? Playing games while charging can sometimes cause the whole device to heat up, at least it does on my SGS.
Did you accidentally drop your phone in some water or something? That's the most common cause for such problems.

Thanks for your answer. The hole screen is heating up very fast. If I play 3d games it is usually but I just look at the time or chatting with some friends. My phone never dropped into water and I don't overclock it.
I'm on JB Rom right now but had that problem in GB and IcS too. Just wanted to ask if it is normal for 2 years old devices
My device is running great but the fast heating is wired ;/
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2
While playing 3d games heating up sounds quite normal, but it should not happen when just chatting or similar stuff that does not use loads of system power :\
If you still got some warranty on it, you might want to send it to some repair center to fix it. (Remember to flash back to stock rom before doing so )
Haha my phone didn't have any warranty anymore
I could buy me another but I love the style and great support of the I9000 ! it seems like I have to live with the "heat issue" until my phone burns haha
Thanks for your advice again.

i noticed that my screen heats up quickly if i'm charging battery and if i overclock the cpu..
i just leave the phone for 15min then so the screen cools down

My Nexus 7 overheating

Recently, twice in the same week, my Nexus 7 has been over heating to almost a burning heat. Now, every night I plug my nexus in and its usually around 30%. Then I put it under my pillow while I listen to a podcast and fall asleep. Then I wake up and usually it fine but today I got my temp gun and it read 138° F on the front glass. I looked at my battery status and it showed that it charged to about 80% and then the screen turned on and the battery was draining very fast while on the charger. I think that is when it overheated and the nexus couldn't vent air cause it was under a pillow. Would this screen turning on be a result of a bug in JB or could it be a rouge app? Or could it be that daydreamer thing that is like a screensaver.

What kernel do you use? Do you OC your CPU and GPU?
Oh, I'm sorry I didn't post those details. I am stock with android 4.2.1 with kernel 3.1.10-g22b4fcd. I am unlocked though
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I looked at my battery usage history and my screen turned on around 3 in the morning and its draining the battery while its charging. So something is going rouge.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Download trinity kernel toolbox. This app will show you the cpu`s temp. The normal temp for the CPU on 1.3Ghz is about 60-75 °C...
dont keep your seven under a pillow while its charging,. thats the only way that you will get the battery temperature that hot. for a cpu temperature, 138F isnt hot. but for a battery temperature, 138F is very hot.

NEVER put these devices under a pillow while charging! You are asking for it to get fried. I did this with my phone once, and it was too hot to touch once I took it out in the morning.

OK, that solves the heat issue but how can I find what's drain the battery so fast.

It shouldn't harm your phone if you use it carefully and not heat it for a long time and let it cool often.
I think it's about 80°C or a little more. Any bigger and extremely big values forces the phone's shut down to cool the CPU.

Is overheating problem normal on Xperia z?

Hiiii,
Sorry again questioning because I haven't got reply yet.. And my DOA period is going end
Mine getting hot while browsing and at doing some gpu jobs,
Is that normal,

You can check with Bat Stat. It's a widget and work very well.
From my experience a mobile completely in idle should stay at 25/30°C, messaging and do some other light things up to 35°C and gaming 45°

Temperature change means that your CPU is working. That's why you use more battery. If you want to preserve your battery on a rooted phone you can use apps like "SetCPU" and set as max cpu speed 1016 MHz. This will not reduce drastically you phone speed but will help you to preserve more battery. When you want to play some game set the max value back to 1500 Mhz

Atm I was reading a book from Play Books and temp is 29. With my Note I had similar values.
The thing that is different between XZ and Note it's that XZ can't exchange hot cause it's waterproof and Note can do more effectively.
XZ has a front and back "glass" so it's more sensible about external temp.
Here in Italy summer it's coming and I'll expect about 30° CPU temp as normal

Yeah is normal it is a special feature Sony build in. That's foe the winter time to keep Ur hands warm when u use the phone. To bad they do not included a turn off switch for it.

Today I wanted to test how is the battery of this phone. I had unplugged from charger at 6.30 AM and connected to PC for 10 mins during the day. Now I have 33% remain and I went on YouTube, listened songs with Spotify (offline), SMS, FB, Twitter, Viber, Play Book: a normal daily use for me.
I have .253 fw and Doom Kernel with wheatley governor and cfq scheduler. 1026 MHz max - 192 MHz min. Juice Defender Ultimate for mobile data and WiFi always active when I am at home or at work.
About 18h without charge. For me it's an exceptional battery life. (when i hade Note I used to go with 3 more battery in the bag!)
