I was very much impressed with Google's job getting AVRCP 1.3 implemented. Google Play Music sent all of the song metadata to my Entune deck, plus the track times and positions, which is more than the previous implementation some ROMs had. It took too long in my opinion, but at least they nailed it.
That's awesome... Got a picture of your audio deck?
Now I might have to upgrade my car stereo to support AVRCP!

I was excited about it too until I heard the audio quality. CM10 ruined me.
Text does work to my media bridge unit in my car tho.
Ya, quality is still broken.
Been that way since 4.21 I think. I opened a new report with Google. Hopefully, it'll be fixed.

Can you tell if the phone streams contact names as well? so when I receive a call from a contact, I could actually see his name and not only the phone number?
I ended up reinstalling CM10.1, awaiting CM10.2. I can't live with all the little additions from that ROM
I'll see if I get time to install 4.3 again to take a pic of the deck. Contacts always worked, even in 4.2.2. I can tell my radio "call X", and my phone calls X. I'm not sure if it sent the name along with the number on incoming calls. I'm also curious if the contact's picture is also sent - it used to pre-broadcom bluetooth stack.
I actually listened closely for the crappy audio rate that was present before the ROMs fixed it, but I couldn't hear it. I did miss CM's equalizer though...
Audio quality is much better after I did this.

I've attached a picture of my car's stereo (Toyota Entune deck) with metadata working. Note that the album art isn't coming from my phone; the Entune deck has a library of album it ties to the artist and album data it receives via AVRCP.
I can confirm that it pulls call logs and my contacts list from my phone, and incoming calls present both the caller's name and phone number. Unfortunately, the caller's picture does not show.
Hope this helps!

AFAIK the Nexus 4 supports Bluetooth MAP -- can send/receive SMS and possibly EMails through Bluetooth.
I can confirm that even in 4.2.2 I received notifications that I had new email through my Entune deck, but I haven't seen notifications from text messages and I've never tried to use the radio to send anything.
yes, i really dig this feature. been waiting for it for a while!
(ignore all the dust in my car, lol)
Here's a shot in my civic.
Doesn't seem to work on my pioneer

I have a 2013 Hyundai Sonata and I can't seem to see any of the track info. I have double and triple checked the settings on my car and the phone to the best of my knowledge and can't seem to get it working...neither with poweramp or Google music.
Anybody any suggestions?
I've bought the car stereo about 6 days before i get the update and now it's perfect

Is your audio skipping like crazy for your Mediabridge? I have one in my BMW.

I wish that my stereo would be able to show contact name during incoming call, as well as play the ringtone instead of annoying ringing tone. With my old iphone 4 that was the case. I could also navigate/scroll through my contacts using my car stereo. With N4 it's not possible.

Still broken between my N4 and my Kenwood KDC-X997 for some reason that nobody can explain

Does anybody know if the HTC One supports AVRCP 1.3+ (showing track names over bluetooth)?
What about Bluetooth APT-X?
Anyone?

Hi,
I don't have the phone, so I don't know for sure, but I have two pieces of evidence:
You can find a video showing bluetooth streaming in a car, which has track information. I can't post links, because I'm a new user, but search youtube for 'HTC One Bluetooth Music Streaming in the Car'.
There is also a bluetooth certification for the Verizon version of the HTC One: google 'softpedia verizon bluetooth htc one'.
So I think it supports Bluetooth 4.0 with AVRCP 1.3.
Cheers,
Will
I ended up purchasing the HTC One and I can confirm that it supports AVRCP 1.3 but not all applications properly send out the metadata. For example, Google Music works great and I see track and artist, but DoggCatcher doesn't show podcast name or anything like that so it's very hit-and-miss.
If you want some more light reading, try the official listing of the Bluetooth specs for the device here:

hello just wondered if anyone had any tips or apps i could use to solve my problem
when using poweramp as music player i can not hear my sms notification sound resulting in missing text messages
i think this is a problem for android in general but maybe it me to used to my late iPhone 5
just wondered if there is a way which would result in the HTC One using audio ducking like on the iPhone?
Using ViperOne Rom

I am having the same issue, using winamp for playing music. Notifications come through, but no sound is played. Music doesn't even pause, like nothing ever happened.
Also using Viper Rom on my Sprint HTC One.
So if u go to Google store and download one of many Bluetooth mono apps I'm using an app called Bluetooth mono. I had to use it with one of my old Bluetooth tooth ear piece. had to make music pass through Bluetooth channel.
If u install this app then turn it on, it open full audio channel to watch. Mic and speaker. So music plays and even voices command with Google now and text works. U can open voice text then dictate to watch and watch voice turn to text. Issues U have to turn mono app off to get give functionality back to watch and ok Google from anywhere doesn't work
I thought this was cool. So I decided to spread the findings sense I did see it posted any where
Ps I'm not a app developer
Ace tip. I was wondering if there was a way to use google now instead of s voice, sounds like this might be a way to do it. Also, as someone with only one working ear, I could probably do with a mono bluetooth hack anyway!

Not sure what you mean by this. Do you mean that the watch no longer works as a smartwatch with this trick?
Im not sure if its a glitch with my Pebble, or a problem with the software in general. Using the stock music player, i am able to correctly use the controls; play/pause, next and previous track. however even though the Pebble is set to use PowerAmp for my music, the display only shows one song and it isnt the song thats currently playing. Nor does it change when i go to different tracks
Anyone else have this issue? any resolutions? I also wouldnt mind a recommendation for a music app to throw on here, the only ones that looked decent are paid
Your music app on your phone isn't broadcasting AVRCP, common issue.
To fix this and get a vastly superior music control watch app - get Music Boss for Pebble.

You don't need to pay money for silly music pebble apps. Go to the bluetooth settings in power amp and toggle metachange intent to ON. That is all.

I would hardly call the best App for Pebble, written by the most responsive and user focused Pebble developer, "silly".

Hey
So I took delivery of my new Vauxhall Crossland X with Android Auto yesterday. Its great to have a headunit that will work with android auto. However I have a very annoying issue.
Nav, calls and spotify work without issue. However I have recently switched to google play music. Now the app opens and when you press play the track starts progressing and you can see the time line moving, however no sound is coming through.
If I change to spotify it works without issue and I can listen to music, albeit in a lesser sound quality (in my opinion) .
Has anyone else found a fix for this issue?
Appreciate your help.
Best wishes
Andy
AFAIK there's sadly no solution for this yet. I can't post links yet because I'm haven't posted much yet, but if you google for "Play music not working on android auto" you'll find a thread in the Google product forums.
Seems to be a Huawei specific problem...
It most certainly is a Huawei issue for which they have no answer. My issue isn't with Android Auto but the Google play music app is glitchy on my car stereo. The album art is from the first song that played the first time I connected the phone to my car and it hasn't changed since. The native music app and spotify have no such issue. I think it has to do with the lack of integration. The play music app's colour should match the album art in the drop down (since Oreo 8.0) but it's just a big orange box. There's definitely something wrong with Huawei's play music.

Installing equalizer from Play store (equalizer by Smart Android apps) make sure eq is ON, and stays on, skip to next song and now Android Auto works.
But first:
Remove and clear data from Android Auto, reboot
Clear all Bluetooth devices from car, and under system in your car remove Android Play devices.
Clean fresh set-up.

Wow, this finally seemed to fix it. I installed the app and reset the Android Auto settings and it's now working again. Thanks a lot!
I gave up before seeing this last post - I sold my p20 pro and bought a pixel 2 xl - have to say it worked straight away and the sound quality on android auto is better too. Gutted Ive lost the p20 pro camera as that was amazing but its nice to have a clean stock phone again. Lets hope the pixel 3 xl has the 3 camera setup that my p20 pro had.
Do I have to leave equaliser on permanently or just for the initial reset of android auto?

EQ option turns on automatically everytime I open Google music
Same issue with Oneplus 6 and Vivo V9. Apart from plethora of issues this issue is the most annoying.
Other issues- Music stops playing and then suddenly resume from beginning of song, Blank screen, no voice control(it used to work before), Whatapps messages are not read(used to work before)
When you try and send a message through voice does it go "uh, something went wrong"?
