Does the original 3G Nexus 7 take a regular size SIM? Same thing for the new LTE model?

No, you can't. 3g doesn't require a sim card on Verizon. You have to activate it online or over the phone or at a Verizon store and your plan will get converted to 3g.

I have 3G with SIM
so I can't put my sim card in it? I need it to work what about sim lock? how do I do that?
Sent from my VM670 using xda app-developers app
He has a 4G LTE sim, which will do nothing in a 3g only phone. The 883 flash works with a gsm sim only.

I'm not using it for the 4glte just for my number..will it work?

They are the same size physically, but they don't work the same. The 4g SIM that verizon uses only carries information about how to connect to the LTE network, it doesn't do anything about connecting to the CDMA network. A 3g SIM carries information about how to connect to a GSM network, also not a CDMA network. In order to connect to a CDMA network, the phone needs to be manually activated with the carrier, and that requires them entering the ESN or MEID into the system.
Has anybody messed with it?

This has been known for awhile. They affect the behavior of the signal. GSM autoprl is best because it'll goto 2g networks when 3G isn't available and LTE lets you use AWS LTE if your carrier has any. And CDMA won't work for us and I feel LTE/GSM Auto will first look for LTE but then degrade to 3G then 2G.
Sure, I think so... maybe like 6 weeks ago or something

the N4 has an active LTE chip that can be accessed though a menu ( that you obviously found. ) - It does only work on Canadian LTE bands ( rogers afaik ) and on some lucky markets of AT&T's LTE
It's the 1800 range i believe.
Stock setting is WCDMA

T-Mobile.
I'm getting good data speeds on my device. It depends on what area you live in.

Unless you have a special Nexus with a built-in phone option, no. The Nexus isn't a phone.
It does wifi. And I use my phone as a wifi hotspot when I want to connect away form my home network.
Lol

I guess you didn't know that there is a GSM Nexus 7.... It uses the back hauled HSPA+ and will go to 2g/edge in poor signal areas.

In fact, on the GSM variant, there is an options for "only use 2g" the save battery.

Just wanted to confirm; there are actually 3G and an LTE version of the Nexus 7 out there. As to what dropofdreams2 said, there is an option on the 3G model to only use a 2G connection. The tablet will also switch over automatically when there is no 3G service available, or of the signal is too weak.
There is no LTE Nexus 7. It uses back hauled 3g known as HSPA+.

Nope. Each device behaves differently and every person uses theirs differently. The answer is that you will have to find out by doing it yourself.

Hello all,
I will be transferring from Canada to Tacoma, WA in the next few months and am seeking some advice on what to do with my wife's Rogers Wireless Note 3 (SM-N900W8). She recently used Roger's hardware upgrade program to get the phone and really likes it. If I unlock her phone, will it work on a US carrier? What carriers do you recommend?
Also, if anyone has cable/internet suggestions for the Tacoma / JBLM area they would be appreciated.
Thanks!
It should work fine on T-Mobile or AT&T. Personally I use AT&T but I was on T-Mobile for years.

Thanks, I was hoping to go with Verizon based on their coverage in Washington, but it looks like AT&T would work as well.
Well, Verizon is a CDMA Carrier. They only use a SIM card for LTE connectivity.
Is your phone capable of CDMA and GSM?
