Hi guys!
I am using CM10.1.1 with OpenPDroid patch and these gapps.
Problem is that they didn't contain SMS app and FM app. I have already installed the SMS app but I am still missing the FM radio app.
Does somebody know in which gapps I can find it? I only need the apk. I could even use the original one, but I don't have a copy
There arent gapps with radio.apk because NEXUS phone doesnt support it.So find SpiritFM.apk and install it.Its much better from LG's stock radio!

I know about SpiritFM, but I want the original radio. Is there a way to retrieve that? Maybe I can open the .DZ firmware somehow?

How many damn times are people going to ask the same stupid questions? Search and read first - 'Stock' radio apps work on 'Stock' firmware due to the framework underneath. If you want the LG radio app then use the LG firmware, if you want a CM-based custom ROM then use Spirit FM. As for 'Opening the .dz somehow' - if you manage to decrypt that stuff you will be the best developer we yet have.

1. search and read what? You did not provide any link to documentation regarding this, nor why I should already have read it. Not sure if you noticed, but people can't read all the forums.
2. there is somebody else already doing the decryption, although it doesn't work for the DZ I am using
I am sorry but I don't like your tone, this is not really community-friendly

"people can't read all the forums"? You don't need to, but you do need to search as that is the first rule of XDA. It isn't necessary for me to provide you with links to the previous posts, but just to be pedantic;-
Spirit FM unlocked FM receiver

[Q] FM Radio for CM 10.1?

Those are just the ones in the 4X HD General & Q&A forums - without doing a generic search on "Stock ROM Radio", "Spirit FM", "FM Radio Cyanogen" or anything else. Next time you feel like creating a thread, please search first.
Now, do you see why people get wound up by the same questions over and over again? You are NOT something special. The CM team cannot implement FM radio in their ROMs due to vendors refusing to release the hard code, drivers etc necessary to do so.

I don't really care. You've been on XDA long enough to know the rules, even if you haven't participated much in the 'community'.
I've read most of those threads (yes, I did search - read back and you will notice how you assumed from first post that I didn't. That's your enraged assumption, not a fact), still I didn't read that it was not possible to use the stock FM radio app.
And your way of "helping" is absurd, go get a life dude! XDA forums, and the community here within, is not a gauge for your stress & rage - you should just be helpful or STFU, nobody is forcing you to read or reply - did you notice?

just as an example did you not read to mean that FM radio doesn't run on CM? I'm not sure if your problem is that you just assume you are special and have the right to open new threads when your question has already been answered?
As for my 'way of "helping"' - no-one is forcing you to read my replies. Funnily enough, you don't get thanks on here for not being helpful, so work out for yourself if I am usually helpful or not. You obviously contribute absolutely nothing to XDA, approx. 1 post per month shows that, so if you don't like it then you can just leave or stop posting when it isn't necessary.
guys, please stop it. both of you.
@OP, i suppose your question is answered. (--> no, it's not possible, at least not without a hell of modding/smali hacking) so i guess we're done here now
and to be honest, i am with @SimonTS on this one, he was not unfriendly, he just told you what to do (he actually shouldn't have had to do it anyways, if you would know the xda rules) but also gave you the answer to your question.

So I'm finally putting this up here. This is a pretty early build but something to start with. It's based on AT&T RUU Sense 3.0 build. It's de-odexed, zip-aligned, rooted, debloated, and with CIQ removed. You should be on the new Recovery (5.5.0.4) and if coming from another ROM, you should fastboot flash the boot.img that is included in the zip file.
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
What's in MaxQ:
AT&T GB 2.3.4 Sense 3
Rooted
De-odexed
Zip-aligned
No CIQ
Moved bootanimation.zip to /data/local
A few additional sounds
PirateGhost's APN file (Thanks PG)
And a little more...
Included Apps
Titanium Backup
HTC Flashlight
AK Notepad
More to come...
I do have only a small issue with a single reboot after it's very first boot but everything is fine after that. If somebody can help me debug that, it would be great. I'll be adding more to this for who knows how long (probably until we have ICS) don't think this is it.
I'm also pretty new to developing on the HTC platform so if you have a request, please don't expect it quickly. This still looks very much stock until we can decode the type 14 files with m10 tools. I've only changed a few default wallpapers.
Taking the download links down until I can figure out what I've infringed on.
Nice to have another option. I'll try it out this afternoon and let you know if there are any issues.

Hmmm, so now it's working. When I tried earlier, it would just turn itself off, but I'm connecting now writing this. Strange.
If all your going to do is use my tweaked rom and relabel it by making a couple little obsolete changes...can at least give credit...smh...same exact tweaks etc....so either remove them and use your own or ask to use my work
WC
WOW, I just ran this thru WinMerge & it is like 99% the exact same as Wild Childs ROM. You didn't even dump the ship ROM, did you? I even see some of the non-stock changes WC made. Tsk...Tsk...Tsk...
Kanging Android is cool, it's open source, but don't forget your source references & credits otherwise you just look like an arse.
Not so much. I deodexed the thing myself. Maybe because its based off of the same RUU? I think I might have used some of the init.d scripts but I'm pretty sure theyre from the supercharger thread. I'm not trying to steal anyone's work.

Ok, ok, calm down. I didn't realize the scripts were "your" work. I seriously thought they were from the Supercharger thread. If it makes you more comfortable, I can remove them. In fact, I can ask a mod to just delete this whole thread and not share anything I do? I'm not intentionally trying to steal anyone's work here. You realize we probably used the same RUU to build from which would be why it would looks so similar?

It's okay, just make sure you give credit where it's due. Wild Child is a bully anyway
Nah, Droid is open source, in that spirit (at least in the Vivid forum) most of us share & even posts our sources freely and you will see that Wild Child had contributed to many of the roms here including Rum Raider, Holicakes, etc...
We all share in this small but tight knit device forum. As such it is just expected that you give credit when it's due & share improvements you make that benefit the developer community.
I see you've been around XDA awhile, so you know how it is. But this isn't a WM forum & most of us here literally talk, email & chat with each other frequently (quit it WC, I'll call you back 8/ ).
Seriously, this is a tight forum & a we frequently talk and throw files back and forth. You may not be used to that, maybe you can from one of those devices with the flashy gaudy roms that scream "look at me", where Android hackers & cooks don't embrace the Android open source spirit. I think you'll like it more here, but just be certain to credit others when you use their work & the world will be right once again.
Now can I go back to my Battlestar Galactica marathon?

Well, I apologize for using your scripts and not giving you credit. I will remove them from my build. Again, it was purely unintentional and I wasn't trying to steal or discredit anyone's work. There's plenty of people here that I've helped and plenty that can say I've asked for direction in how to do something so I can do it myself and not use somebody else's work. I like to know how things work not just copy/paste. And I'm not trying to make any enemies here either so I've removed the links until I can make the necessary changes.
Hello,
I´d like to try the new cyanogen mod (on my S4 Active),
is it possible to use one from their list (link) or this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2521384 ?
If I could install it, would it work correctly.
Would something not work?
Or wouldnt nothing work at all?
Thank you for your answers
probably not. You need to check your phone to see it's running MF3. If it is, your bootloader is locked and you will not be able to get into the recovery console however if you do a search for safestrap you will find a solution but you still can't use CyanogenMod

Your phone is the international version -i9252. same as mine
So Safestrap and those roms won't work, since it's only for the American locked market phones. i.e. ATT and so on.
as far as I can see the only ROMs available is the CM one, and the international Google edition.
Personally I'm still on Stock since there is no good release of any rom for our version out. and it looks like there will never be.
Just root and delete unwanted apps.

Thanks for this info.
I'll be receiving my Galaxy S4A today and was planning to flash the CM or Google Edition.
I'm now also considering your option to just root and delete apps.
I assume you're freezing them with Titanium or just fully delete?
Do you have a list of programs you removed?
I have never cooked any ROMs for smartphones, but I've hacked almost every device that came into my house and made firmwares for those devices that didn't get support from others...
I started the procedure for the cm10.2 yesterday, but it failed to compile when I started to do things S4A-specific.
Pffff I wish I waited for the Nexus 5... It is sold out,but they will soon be on the market again.

I'm using Rom toolbox lite - freezing some apps like bookmarks sync and so on, but uninstalling apps like dropbox, gtalk, chaton, yahoo finance news and those.
Basically just uninstall the big battery drainers.
i need a kernel
i need a t mobile kernel for echoe rom that im still able to overclock on 4.3
I took your advice and merely rooted it and deleted some unwanted apps.
I did have some problems with Odin when using a standard USB cable. It only worked after I used the cable that came with it. Strange...
I hope there's 4.4 soon for our active

I own the same device (I am dreaming of a tool able to make S4 roms compatible with our devices) and I am using this rom since about a month http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2395242. It's far better than the stock rom: less laggy, from my point of view it's more user friendly, it has more configuration possiblities. But there are some issues like an error with the date on sms, the external SD doesn't work and the useless HDR mode doesn't work...
There is also some stability problems with some apps.

^^^^ This is EXACTLY why people need to develop brains and learn to search and read. A member who has been here a while has given you a hint so you should think "OK, I'll do some research and see what he is suggesting".
If you flash a custom ROM + gApps and it does ANYTHING unexpected, the first step should be to check the downloaded files are good and reflash again following the correct, clean, procedure.
Always eliminate the easy stuff before looking for anything more difficult.

there is an issue, and we dont know (and dont care) why it happens with our roms, if you flash them without gapps, hw touch buttons might not work. it's fixed by flashing gapps, and since i havent seen anyone not use gapps, it's not a big issue. try it, and report back

Why would anybody try to fix an issue which appears if you don't flash Gapps (or the Gapps are broken)? Do you want your device to be "Google-Unchained"? Or why would you bother not to install Gapps? I think nobody does see a point in fixing a bug caused by this.

You've been advised and advised again by THREE different senior members now.
You have two very simple choices;-
1) Revert to the 'Stock' LG ROM and use your phone the way LG wanted it to work
2) Accept the fantastic work of our developers, understand that you need Google Apps to use the phone properly, and enjoy the freedom that comes with it
I understand that you are lazy and refuse to search or read, which is why you have created 17 threads since you joined XDA, all of which have been simple questions you could have found the answers for yourself. XDA is not a helpdesk for noobs, it is a site for DEVELOPMENT, so I would suggest that you put your brain in gear before attempting to continue your argument.

Halo xda friends I decide to open a new thread to give some more info about:
xxx ROM= patches?
To help each other to avoid boot loops on our favourite device. N5
Before open the thread I ask on original nexus 5 dalvic-bionic thread to include on first
Page some more info about rom-patches but I don't like this answer:...
[1. A ROM can change, for example Carbon has recently switched to 100% CAF/CM base, and I think Purity changed some commits previously that affected these.
2. There are too many ROMs and no one would be willing to maintain it. If we had a list then some new ROM came along, they'll end up asking anyways.
3. I have a post explaining which types of Dalvik will work on what bases. If you don't even know your own ROM's base you need to do some more research, we are not going to spoonfeed you. If you aren't willing to learn, you don't belong here.
4. If you're still unsure, chances are someone else has tried these on the same ROM as you, so search. Use the search PROPERLY. It isn't a "Google" where you can entire an entire paragraph and get an answer, so be specific. Don't think your ROM is so unique that nobody else uses it, unless you built it from base yourself, in which case I'm pretty sure #3 would've been no issue for you in the first place.
5. Easy trial and error. If you fail the above, flash an AOSP one and if it boots/works without force closes, then it works. If it doesn't, then use a CAF one.
6. Majority of people don't read OP properly to find out what this even does, and look ONLY for download links and flash blindly. Then complain about boot loops when the answer was in the OP.]
And for that this thread made.
So to answer on above post yes they explain the rom bases for the patches but it's not sure
that it will work.
I'll post the first info for liquid smooth-blood rom for all nexus devices. The liquid team before

The liquid team before
one month have change the bionic and I was getting boot loops with my older patches
I try this and working great on last one month nightless builds.

you know, we dont need anither thread for this, a post in the dalvik/bionic thread would have been sufficient.

Sorry for that.
The links are ok now thanks
Please use the original thread linked in your OP. It's better to keep everything in one place.
Thanks!
Has anyone heard if our device will be included?

This is the development thread, perhaps your question should be in the Q&A thread.
But for the record, it is.
If you check the official website you'll see Z3 Compact (Aries). There are no builds available yet. Apparently they will be available in the coming weeks.
Will it be necessary an unlocked bootloader to try it?

You need to unlock for every custom ROM that doesn't have a stock (-based) kernel, else you will run into a bootloop. So yes, unlock is necessary. Don't forget to backup your DRM keys before.
I can't wait to try Paranoid Android on my D5803. I hope they hurry up and release a candidate.

Wow, what an informative and helpful development thread.
Wrong thread. Do not add replies.

Sure, sarcasm has always been a contructive way to respond to unintentional misconceptions; it makes you look smart in such a humble way.

But for some reason it's the "wrong thread". No need to explain why or point to the "right" thread. I'm sure it will come to me soon that there has always been a right thread and it has been there all along.
To be clear:
The question was ABOUT development. I was not clear that that doesn't qualify it to be in "development". Anyway I'm glad it's in the right section now. However, the conduct of above "senior" members gives more insight into their state of mind than anything else, least of all information related to the subject.

Your backlash to these points is not needed
It does not matter what your question is about, its a question and belongs in the Q&A section.
Please refer to this
15. Keep threads / posts on-topic

•Q&A Help & Troubleshooting Forums - For all question / request threads and posts. If there is no Q&A Help & Troubleshooting forum, use the General Forum of the relevant device

Taken from here and what you signed up to. I would expect a member of over 8 years to know this.
Furthermore, senior members should be aware not to troll posts, if you have an issue just use the reporting system to contact the mods, that's what we are for.

BUMP FIRST BUILD IS HERE http://get.aospa.co/official/aries
Get it while its hot
Same process then? flash boot.img and zip from TWRP?
Edit: Everytime I do that, my phone doesn't boot. Be it with CM or other ROMs, and I have to flash a stock tft. I'm currently on Concept, since I've never managed to get CM working.
Edit2: tried to install but had to modify the install-script. My device was being recognized as "z3c".
Edit3: error flashing, same thing as CM. Flashing stock MM to see if it has something to do with using Concept before.
Edit4: can't enter recovery after flashing stock MM. Going back to Concept and not sure what to do next
Edit5: that's the error I get in TWRP

Flash any 5.1.1 with Flashtool, and then try to flash PA through TWRP. I have no explanation why, but after being on Concept I couldn't flash even a stock 5.1.1 or even 4.4.4, so had to go with Flashtool.
From my wild guess (no knowledge about it whatsoever) it may be that on concept partitions are mounted on different points, so the one from update script in any other rom doesn't match.
