My Interesting Encounter with Chinese Internet Censors - Off-topic

I was bored so I decided to create a Weibo (Chinese alternative to Twitter) account by the name of "苟大变" (note the wordplay: literally it means Gou Big Change but phonetically read, it means dog sh*t). That aside, it took me little more than seconds to register for an account.
I filled in my details, when they asked for the company I came from, I wrote "朝鲜不民主主义不共和国" trans: "The Undemocratic Unrepublic of Korea". I began writing my first troll post, before realising that within a matter of minutes I have won myself 4 followers (fans).
The content of the troll post as follows: "大家好,我来自朝鲜。我的国家很民主,很自由,很开放, 也有很多东西吃。希望你们可以单程来看望我。顺便带一点吃的,okay?" Trans: "Hi everyone, I come from North Korea. My country is very democratic, very free, very open and there's a lot for us to eat. Hope you can visit me on a one way trip. Bring some food in the meantime, okay?"
Next minute: "your account is experiencing difficulties, please complete mobile phone verification to unfreeze your account"

Then underneath it says: "Please use mobile phone services located in mainland China to verify access. We currently do not support mobile phone services from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan or mobiles from overseas."
Googled the reason as to why accounts were frozen, came across the answer that it's either because someone has hacked the account or that the frozen user has posted something 'inappropriate'. For me, it's most likely the latter.
Well there goes my account. Nothing I can do about it, is there?
By the way, I do still plan to use that name later, please don't steal it.

DO NOT USE ISOHUNT or TORRENTS2HELL

Hey Everyone!
I Just poped in to let all the torrent users out here know not to use ISOHUNT as they have negotiated a deal with the MPAA and RIAA to submit all of their server data, including all members info and ipaddress's. It is also said that Torrents2Hell will be secretly doing the same both while staying in full operation. ---BEWARE!
Happy Downloading All!
P.S To All Forum Mods... This is not a spam I am just sending out a warning to fellow downloaders. More information can be found about this on Digg but i will not post a link due to forum rules.
Forum Poster V2
Yeah, it's true! You can use my site instead: myBittorrent.com! It's one of the few legitimate sites!
It's foolish to use ANY public torrent trackers/sites... If you don't know of a private one to join, it would be a better idea not to bother if you want to be safe.
This is spam and a deliberate attempt by a disgruntled ex member of our site (DERZ) to slander and defame our name. There is absolutely no truth to the matter regarding Torrents2Hell.com. I challenge the poster to bring forward even the slightest of proof regarding these ridiculous claims.
The op's post was made using a forum bot and has been spread far and wide over the internet in many many forums. I request for the moderators of this forum remove the thread as it tarnishes our name for absolutely no reason. Mods have my email so please feel free to email me if you have any further questions. Members wanting to add this member to there PG list can pm me at Torrents2Hell for there Ip address. We are not the first torrent site to be attacked by this twerp so all webmasters should be wary of this sort of activity.
Thankyou,
CaptnRon.

Bram Cohen always said that he never understood why public torrents were used to distibute pirated warez as all IPs are logged. If you use public torrents, you shouldn't be surprised if you get a knock on the door. It might not happen, but if and when it does, man, we'll all be right behind you I'm sure.
Remember, winners don't use warez.

lol good to know Im glad I stopped using them 3-4 weeks ago!
is this spam or fact?
I smell spam b/c this post has been made at various other boards.
Screw them, without the key my file server is a terrabyte of pure random numbers.
I am looking forward to buying a drive for my laptop with transparent hardware based encryption, it would make no difference who knock on the door.
I hate the RIAA/MPAA and their goons. Whenever I torrent, no mater what it is I am flooded with "safenet" etc trying to slow me down. They do not care if the file has no copyright of theirs they just do it to everyone on that tracker. I am currently getting a Chinese tv series that was free to air and has nothing to do with hollywood but they still bombard me.
Maybe we should write some software to target their connections and get 10 million users to distribute an attack on them the way they do to us.
hah, that would be pretty funny actually..if we spammed the hell out of them. You know something like that would make the news. Either way, torrentspy is now shut down to US customers ...
Torrentspy Acts to Protect Privacy
Sorry, but because you are located in the USA you cannot use the search features of the Torrentspy.com website.Torrentspy's decision to stop accepting US visitors was NOT compelled by any Court but rather an uncertain legal climate in the US regarding user privacy and an apparent tension between US and European Union privacy laws.

[POLL] - How much would you ask for giving up internet for the rest of your life?

That´s the question, what´s the value of internet in your life?. Remember that in exchange of the money amount that you ask for, you completely give up to the whole internet, not only the www. No more forums (like XDA), no more Skype, YouTube, Netflix, Spotify, Twitter, Facebook, online games, email, and all the new stuff that may appear in the next years.
1 billion dollars.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
It'd have to be a lot, it's like giving up friends that you only talk to on the Internet
However, I chose the last one because with that much you could re invent the Internet, and call it someth else so it's not the Internet but your allowed on it

Sure thing. With enough money, I can text everyone however I want. I can chill out with [email protected]+C#ES all the time IRL, and hire people to go on the internet for me.

No no no, not allowed to hire people to go on the internet for you. And all the [email protected]#ES that will chill out with you will probably give you a sexual disease, and you won´t have internet to see what happens.
Dude, you're making the rules up. I'm the King of OT. I make the rules. And when I say jump, you say what colour.
Now back to the question at hand, if I can make anything I wish come true, shooting stars will turn to airplanes.
Besides, how did you know all them [email protected]+C#35 around me gots STDs? That'll be quite an achievement for these jailbait virgins.
Actually, the question (at least in my case) should be reversed.
What would be a fair price that I would have to pay to be weaned off the Internet. My Internet addiction as an adult has become far worse that what my television addiction was as a child.
The Internet is a very useful tool, but I need to ration it a bit more sparingly.

New Internet instead of fighting ACTA

LET CREATE NEW INTERNET INSTEAD FIGHTING AGAINST ACTA
Guys, I was thinking to do somenthing else.
Laws of the univers support and sustain creation and not fighting. Saint Maria Theresa when she was invited to the meeting against war, she decline saiing that she will attend when a meeting FOR PEACE will be held.
Insead of fighting against ACTA let's create another INTERNET, that will be free form all this bull**** from the beggining.
It will need a little effort, writing new TCP/IP and create a new INTERNET that we can upload and download all that we want because it will be int the bylaws from the beggining.
I am not a software writer, I am a user and a manager. I have ideas.
What it would take to create a new INTERNET, from zero?
In case ACTA prevails we would have to do that anyway!
My oppinion!

This would mean (clearly theoretical) digging the whole earth and making new connections and programing walls of texts, so that it would be completely isolated from the "old" one. Without that, the "cops" might switch between those two, and you'll need billions and billions and billions of dollars to set the whole infrastructure up. Anyway, after some time some a$$holes would reveal all the secrets of the new Internet and law would bite ur ass

Can't find KitKats? Want to win a Nexus 7?

Hey y'all I have been just using random addresses and made up names to keep putting in new codes, but another user gave me an idea. I could use the names and addresses of XDA members that can't find the specially marked packages yet. I have 5 codes I will be entering tonight, so if you would like to win, leave me your name and address. You can either leave it in this thread or PM me. I will let you know if you won or not. I figure this is a better idea than some random person winning a tablet due to me picking addresses off of Google maps.

You definitely can't win again if you have already won, which is why I keep having to make up info and temp email addresses. The play credit code gets emailed so it's not attached to a particular play store account. I am not sure about the region thing, but I'd be willing to test it out.

Good luck.
Thank you for your kind words.

In the meantime, if anyone has any further questions I will be happy to answer.
Have you considered switching to iOS store ?
That might be an option, it won't be easy at this stage of my life, but it's an option.
At the time when I started, I was not smart enough to consider this and I did the mistake to put all my eggs in one basket.
Now it's tough, with more than a decade of experience on Android.
Android development is what put the food on the table, and I have a mortgage to pay and a family to support.

Frankly, Google has been doing since 2011.
Better Keyboard disappeared?
Is it just me or has better keyboard disappeared off the market? I had to reflash generic UK and root/go back up to 2.3.3, but when I restored with Titanium Backup, I got the unlocker for Better Keyboard but not the app itself. Now I'm stuck in...
forum.xda-developers.com
IIRC The reason was even pettier than yours.
Bye Bye Better Keyboard 8, Open Home, and anything by Better Android
So, I was looking in the market for better keyboard 8 and couldn't find it. From there, I did a google search and came across their website with this as their top news. here is the link, and I will quote it as well. Better Android Apps Hello everyone, we have to say good-bye this time. Here’s...
www.droidforums.net
It was definitely a red flag for me.
In 2011 the paid apps are what made revenue for the Android Market. The Ad penetration was very low and users were limited.
Another example is ofc YongZh
So Why Were the Yongzh’s Emulators Pulled?
There was much sadness when Android developer, yongzh, had his Market account deleted and line of popular game emulators pulled from the market. Many people were troubled by this news, seeing it as…
androidcommunity.com
Google made a lot of money & goodwill via emulators in the initial days and then they booted out yonghz out .
Now the developers don't have any idea who paid for the apps and who didn't. And basically, the consumers are screwed and developers are harassed.
Also, Google changes its Developer license agreement 3-4 times a year. At any moment any apps can be booted out.
Make no mistake iOS can do the same. But at the very least you can speak to a human who can sort out your affairs. And that 99$ a year is totally worth it.
iOS experience is far more fluid then say 2015 (Been developing for both android and iOS)
Long term it's really wise to move away from Android to say Web or Server Administration.
