Hello,
I shot some amazing zoes today and I was so pleased with them that I decided to upload them on G+ and also to do a backup on my computer before organizing them in those beautiful Zoe highlights videos. However, instead of copying the Zoes on my computer I moved them, hence, as much as I know, I can't organize them in HTC video.
I tried moving them back but, as expected, it didn't work.
So basically I was wondering if there is a way of getting those mp4 files from my computer to my phone in "zoe" format (i.e. series of 20 photos)
Thnx !

Did you transfer all 21 files? As in, 20 photos and 1 video?
If you did, I'm surprised HTC hasn't looked into that yet.
Oh well. Looks like ZOEs are only useful on the phone and nowhere else.
As a matter of fact, after the 4.2 update, zoes are saved as one .mp4 file and one photo. Therefore, If I'm not mistaken, you can access the 20 'zoe' photos only through your phone.
In the end, after some testing, I managed to save those .mp4 files to my MEDIA folder and they can be merged in a highlight video. The 4.2 update confused me a bit. I guess it's a solved problem.

New to the forum, THX for the welcome......New owner of a Captivate, and so far everything is going smoothly except for one little problem. When I transferred pics and videos to my phone storage the thumbnails for the pics worked, but some of the thumbnails for the videos, didn't show up. Out of 75 videos only 6 shows a thumbnail, all of the clips are mp4. I recently retired a 4 month old Backflip when I saw the Captivate, and this problem was not present on it, it was also running the update to 2.1 Eclair. I have tried to d/l new vids to see if it was a transfer from pc issue, and put in an SD card and transferred the pics and vids to it, and I get the same thing....in the gallery under rn-downloads there is 6 thumbs and the rest are black. I have Realplayer installed, but have uninstalled it, and used the stock video player to see if that was the issue.....same thing. The phone is not rooted YET. Is this a Samsung issue being that I was haven't this problem on the Motorola Backflip. Hopefully someone out there knows an easy fix.
Please help!!!!
Thx in advance
I have the same problem. I tried everything removing my SD card reinstalled it, ran the media scanner countless times. Copyed all files onto the phone from the SD card. I downloaded an apparently called "just pictures" it does the same thing as the gallery also allows u to Have photobucket and fb pic accounts on it. Really streamlines Everything. Is a quick fix for this stupid gallery issuse.

My bad I just noticed Your only having that problem With videos is it just that or pictures as well? Unfortunately that app I mentioned only handles pictures but I'm sure there are other That handle vidoes or just use the video player to browse cause the gallery cannot serve that purpose.

Yea just noticed an *.avi movie (horrid stuff Universal Soldier Ressurected) isn't showing up in the Gallery. Dunno when it stopped working.
But I have been using My Files or ES File Explorer whenever I wanted to watch something on my phone.... so haven't been paying attention.
I will do the same thing I Just wanted / needed something to be able to watch picture slide shows on. So that was taken care of. Good Thing is there is a lot of options to replace the gallery in the first place.

Hi,
I tried searching but haven't found anything -
Did anyone notice that Zoe pictures are being saved differently in 4.2.2 ? instead of a collection of *ZOE*.jpg there are big MP4 files.
Also, when I tried uploading to HTC share it wouldn't let me, saying that the limit for file size is 40MB..

Definitely seems like a improvement to me. I remember that the *ZOE*.jpg cluttered dropbox or flickr with those images. Probably won't be much of a problem with MP4 files.
Oh it's definitely for the better.. no argument there.
It's just weird that because they made big MP4 files instead of the JPG's, the files go over 40 megs, then you can't upload them to HTC share.
So.. sorry to bump and all but -
Can anyone tell me if they are able to upload to a collection to HTC-share using 4.2.2 ?
Bumping this up.
I've been using Dropbox until now for auto-uploading my photos and I've set up my Flickr because it is just better for pictures.
However my issue is Zoes.
I'm still on 4.1.2 and I just get a photo uploading to Flickr. How can I upload the video?
Any ideas?
In the DCIM folder I just see a single mp4 and jpeg file.
Somewhere the 20 still frames are hidden away but I can't find them.
Any ideas how I can backup/restore Zoe files in their entirety so I can still use the full functionality after a reset?
Cheers,
Stuart
To answer my own question, after a bit of experimentation it appears they are hiding in plain sight and saved inside the mp4 file so simply copying that back will do it.

Hi there,
I am new to this forum and this is my first time posting! I have the ATT samsung galaxy S5 and I am rooted but running the stock ROM. I am relatively new to android and this is my first one after three years of having iphones. Anyway, I just got a 32gb microSD card but I am having some problems making it work with the camera. Before I put the SD card in, I had several folders in my camera, such as videos, camera, screenshots, snapchat, transferred from my iphone, etc... When I transferred from my iphone, a lot of the pictures were out of order but I learned to deal with it. When I put my SD card in, all of the folders mushed together with all my videos on the top and everything out of order. Now I just have one folder called externalSDcard and one called "camera" where new pictures are stored and one called picassa. Im not even sure if they are folders or albums! How do I restore everything to how it was before but keep it all on the SD card?
HELP!
Nothing? Really?
Really the only thing you can do I believe is put the pics on your computer and then format your SD card then put them back on in their appropriate folder. Pics go in the pictures folder and mpegs go in movies folder. Hope you figure it out.

Android will scan your phone for media files and will show all in the gallery. Now in the gallery you can create albums then drag and drop pictuers or videos into them. Also the camera folder must reside in the DCIM folder.

Exactly, the file structure on your SD card hasn't changed, but gallery app is organizing them the way it wants. What's even better is if you are storing camera pictures on SD card after having stored some on internal memory, now you have two "Camera" items shown in your gallery.
Picasa, by the way, is any pictures you've stored in picasaweb (which may be "none").
You might find a different picture viewing app more to your liking. I've always liked quickpic and now it supports viewing picasa pics as well, which was one of the only reasons to use the stock Gallery. And it's free.
The only remaining reason I have to use the stock Gallery is for those "shot & more" pictures I still want to edit (but that comes with a big bug of its own).
Thanks
Thanks so much for your help! I think I am getting things sorted out. For some reason though when I move the picture around or make any kind of changes, it changes the date from the day it was taken to when I last changed the location. I think that is why all the videos are on the top. Is there anyway to change that back? Also Im not a big fan of the gallery app so I think I'll try quickpick! Ill let you know how it goes!
Question for all the vets here.....Im coming from an iPhone so Im obviously familiar with a different way of doing things.
Im trying to figure out how the file structure works within Android. Im mostly referring to media files and where/how they are stored and accessed. Im used to everything being stored inside my "camera roll" or whatever its called in a iphone. It would store all videos, photos, screen shots, downloaded images, everthing but music.
Now with Android it appears everything is kind of all over the place. Pictures are in Google Photos and are also accessible from the camera app. Screen shots and downloaded pictures are also stored in Google Photos yet aren't accessible from the camera app? Videos are all over the place. Vids I record are in Google Photos and accessible from the camera app. Videos I download are in the downloads folder.
Seems like everything is kind of spread out and a mess/not easily accessible. Am I doing something wrong?
Then that brings me to other files like documents. I've downloaded excel files from email and click save to drive and then they don't show up in my google drive. I access them in sheets. Then tried saving to device, no clue where those are saved to/accessible from.
Basically the whole file management system is a bit confusing to me. Hopefully someone can help clear things up for me. I know I can download a file management app and access everything from their respective folders which is fine. But Im more concerned with where everything is stored/accessed from an app standpoint.
Thanks for the help if you read that whole mess!!!

Gallery, root explorer, and most pictures always end up in Pictures or DCIM/Camera.
the iPhone file structure isn't that much better when you jailbreak, either. on my iPad it works the same way and downloads from the net go into a weird temp folder.
Anyways, you need to get an external app to view stuff really well. Google stuff doesn't ever really work well for me, I would get office suite.
