Restoring HTC Desire C to fully Stock with Wifi working - HTC Desire C

Hi, I want to restore my HTC Desire C to stock rom, I have followed this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2220396 . Through this I am able to have the stock ROM back, but the Wifi is not working. So how can I restore this to work normally.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for letting me know the dependency of wifi on this. But where can I get the boot.img and how to flash it. I have seen it explaining on the thread I have given in the first post, but I didn't got where to get the boot.img and recovery.img and procedure on flashing.

Umm...Don't flash stock boot.img
Flash Prometheus Kernel...Flash 767MHz first
And for flashing boot.img
assuming you have your fastboot driver installed, and the Android SDK.
Copy the boot.img the the tools folder of the android SDK, and them open the command windows and type this:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot wipe cache
fastboot reboot
Click to collapse
After it has flashed your WIFI will indeed work.
Or use this Script for Flashing if you don't wanna download Android SDK but even this requires Fastboot drivers

Fastboot drivers is what I have used while unlocking the boot loader right?

I would like to ask you to stop promoting nikhils work.
Its starting to poke my eyes with needles and im sure its not just me.
If he wants to restore the Stock settings it could be because he needs to turn it in for repairs.
You cant do that with promtheus kernel can you?
Also its "Fastboot erase cache" and its supposed to be the first step, not the second.

The stock kernel included in the post Russell has worked completely fine. My friend needed a Desire C restored to stock so i used that and there was absolutely no issue.
I originally created the kernel I have for two purposes: Learning, and personal satisfaction.
Then I decided that I should upload it just for fun, I never expected to get 300 thanks, I never expected anyone to even test it.
I'm glad I could make a product that you use on a daily basis and enjoy doing so.
To be honest you are the one that used capslock lol. My intention was not to fight but to state personal opinion and correct an error so we don't have to see another thread "[Q] Fastboot wipe cache isnt working.HELP!"
Chill out bro.

If you have restored Stock system you can restore stock boot...THEN relock bootloader if need be.
The red text is part of hboot which detects a non-stock boot.img
If you're relocking the bootloader I'd use an original Stock Rom and NOT a Deodexed Rom (just in case )

On trying to make it a mini tab for his kids. I've tried to flash gsm Roms with no luck. Just that red text. If I lock boot loader would these Roms or kernels work?

Won't work on Cricket as it's CDMA and not GSM, check the forums for an external link I posted for Cricket HTC Desire C

Easy fastboot tool

Hi guys,
I'm not at all sure it's useful for our Wildfire's, but I'll share it anyway, just in case we're lucky.
It's made by sypher1337 (thanks you!)and posted on the G1 forum, but should work on most/all HTC devices

I have no idea, ask Sypher.
I'm no genius you see, I just saw something when going through other forums and thought this might be useful for someone. That's all
Although, this can be used through windows, and I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, that CWM goes through your android phone.
Does this work for froyo 2.2.1. Has anyone tried this?

Can i recover it?
Please help...
Hey came across this on under the "latest" tab, I don't have the same device as you, so my advice could be way off base. but if you can get into recovery mode then you're fine, just do a data wipe/factory reset in recovery mode. If that doesn't work, flash a new rom. This is assuming you have root and a custom recovery.

I'm afraid you may be out of luck. Unless someone more familiar with your device has better advice. Knowing what I know about android, it appears you've "hard bricked" your phone, and there may not be a possibility of recovery.

Did you unlock the bootloader at the HTCdev website? If so you need to relock it in fastboot (type fastboot oem lock ... I think its that, someone correct me if I'm wrong) and install one of the stock roms from the link a couple of posts up.
DO NOT try to install a stock rom with the bootloader unlocked!!!!!
If you didn't unlock the bootloader, thats where the problem is, install a stock rom and then go to HTCdev.com to unlock the bootloader, once that is done you can then root and install capys rom
Vertigo:
Yep, i reloked phone from
fastboot with command
fastboot oem relock
Then i have installed official ROM (exe)
And thats it.
It was so easy... I have spent about 10-12 hour with my pc and phone to made that solution....
I AM HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In such situation you don't need to wipe everything and flash a new rom...
just push original font back to the fonts folder via adb and that's it...

Hi,
Try the following:
1. Download adb tools. (www.filesonic.com/file/1774628264)
2. On your pc click on your local disk C: Drive (or D: drive for some) (WINDOWS users: Start > My computer > Local Disk (C)
3. Create a new folder called "adb" and extract the files from adb.zip into it. Make sure it doesn't create another folder in the adb folder when extracting
4. open command prompt (or terminal for linux) and type "cd" "followed by the path to your adb folder" (windows users can type "cd C:\adb")
5. Don't forget to enable the "usb debugging" when you connect it by the USB.
6. Enter in the command prompt screen the following:
adb devices
adb reboot-bootloader
fastboot getvar cid
7. If your mobile is from Europe, it will give you: HTC__001.
8. You can search the net for other codes and accordingly, download the suitable RUU file. If you are unlucky like me, your mobile will show "HTC__038" .
Good luck.

I am having difficulty myself finding a rom that actually works with this phone. So far, I have had to settle with Untouched ROM, and I have flashed an overclocked RAM kernel. Had some force closes for a while, but grabbed a tweaker and lowered the RAM speed, so I'm good now. My advice is to stick with what is stable first, and then add apks and tweaks and other customizations to bring it to where you would like it.
First, can you state your recovery, is it stock or custom (like ClockworkMod).
This Explos!on ROM... are you sure this is compatible with the Desire C?
I would suggest Nameless Rom [LINK] but since you hate Sense so much :crying: I would consider CyanogenMod [Link], google it for more info.
I would flash CWM if you don't have it yet if I were you, g'luck mate :good:

Im using cwm recovery yes, but i cant even find an oc kernel or whatever it, everytime i flash a new boot.img i just bootloop..
Ok, to clarify.
It does not matter if you use nameless rom and hate sense, you can remove sense using nikhils customiser
There is no cyanogenmod for our phone yet
you dont seem to really get ROMing, Majellico, explosion rom was built for desire c and works with no other phone
because every rom has to be built for a phone specifically.
Now for flashing explosion (though i recommend nameless)
First, you do a full system wipe in the recovery
then you delete cache and dalvik cache
choose "apply zip from sdcard"
choose the rom .zip-file
it should now flash.
now for flashing the boot.img,
boot into bootloader, choose fastboot and connect your usb cable
go to the folder where you have extracted boot.img of your choice (you will have to see if the 767OC or 806OC work, if it doesnt just repeat these steps with the other bootimg.)
hold shift and right-click, choose "open commandprompt here" or something like that (my pc is configured in dutch i dont know what that options called in english)
type: "fastboot flash boot boot.img", without the quotation marks
now reboot your phone

Sorry for the misunderstanding for the Explosion ROM, I heard of it only in this forum and am researching it. There is actually a CyanogenMod for the Desire C (just very buggy, no WiFi so useless), thank you for that other information as well.

[Q] HTC Desire C stuck during boot

Hi everyone,
Recently I tried to follow a post from xda dev on putting a new kernel on my HTC Desire C.
Although I followed all the steps I am now unable to get past the boot screen wit the htc logo.
I have tried a number of solutions to make it work but nothing so far, backup recovery failed, changing to another kernel failed.
I think that at this point it might be bricked, and all that I can see is the logo and a disclaimer message.
Does anyone has any idea if I could fix it, and what do I need to do?
Kind regards,
Florin
Edit: thanks to aashay960 for telling me how to fix this.
The solution was to reinstall kernel and rom (since I made a mess of it initially)
Current config : CyanogenMod 10 + N.O.P.E Kernel 875Mhz

I tried the Prometheus Kernel for sense linked in your signature with the stock. I got to the HTC logo screen and it got stuck there. It might be that the method I used was wrong.
Would it be possible to use the ones you do? Cyanogem mode and the N.O.P.E Kernel?
Can I install them only with recovery? And is there and "xda approved" method of installing kernels and custom roms?
Thanks,
Florin
Flash a lower frequency Prometheus Sense Kernel from fastboot.
You cannot use nope for sense roms. Nope is for Jellybean roms only.
As of now we have two ways to flash a kernel on this device. One is fastboot, which I personally use. Second is the auto Boot.img flasher that you will find if you search..
For now, tell me what frequency you tried. And try a lower one.

Hi, I forgot to mention in the previous one that I initially used the 816 one, and then switched to the lower one 767.
Is it worth it to try a "clean install" as in a new configuration with a new kernel and rom?
No a wipe is not necessary.
Just make sure you do
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Try an even lower one.
Now that your bootloader is unlocked. Why not try a custom rom?

I seem to be having connection problems with the xda app resulting in posts when I thank people and only getting notification of successful posts when I am reading another thread!
Sorry for the confusion I caused.

[Q] Stock ROM

I've been trying to modify my HTC Desire 510 phone recently, but when I was doing so, I was honestly operating under the assumption that my phone is the 610 (school is really messing with my brain.) Anyways, I've unlocked the bootloader, but something was wiped out so that now whenever I choose to reboot, it goes into fastbook mode (this happens whether I select recovery or reboot. Thus, I'm thinking that I knocked out the ROM. Would I be correct in that assumption?) Anyways, if I am, is there anyone who has a copy of the stock ROM for the HTC Desire 510 that I could get to restore my phone back to operating condition?
They working on the phone

Ill pull the stock system and post a download link. Just give me a second. Your gonna need to reboot to fastboot and flash the recovery in the forums for the 510 first before restoring it. Just look in the q/a section.

Thanks! I really appreciate it!
I found the thread that talked about installing TWRP, so I downloaded that .img file and will flash it when I get home (am at school right now.) Once that is done, all I need is the stock ROM to get my phone back to functioning order until someone comes out with a custom ROM, correct?
Again, thanks for the help!

Will do. Not to pressure you at all (cause I know you're doing me a HUGE favor by uploading it), but when we're you planning on posting the link for the ROM? Again, no rush.

i just did a little something like this, i unlocked my device, went to flash the recovery BUT i put "fastboot flash boot" instead of "fastboot flash recovery" . sigh now im stuck in recovery forever lol, hopefully someone can help us.
Go back to fastboot and reflash it to the recovery partition. Then wait for someone to post up a boot.img. maybe when someone posts a stock rom ill flash it and dump a boot.img for you
I just dumped mine a few minutes ago actually. Not sure if it helps.

Unrar the folder and copy it in the backup path it's something like /sdcard/TWRP/BACKUP/yourserialdevice/... after this restore using TWRP restore.

Easy way is to go into TWRP Backup and just backup boot
then reboot your phone and from the PC go to sdcard/TWRP/BACKUPS/yourserialnumber/yourBackup
unrar the file you downloaded to the same location as yourBackup
Now return to TWRP / Restore and you should see 2 backups / Yours and Mine (2014-12-02--16-24-34 KOT49H Stock.not.rooted)

Can you please upload the stock boot.img for the sprint variant. My front camera is not working after installing the write protection removed kernel.
