This zip will change the initial boot logo image to whatever you place inside the zip.
It must be a logo.bin file, which is a specific format. Google around for existing ones in the right resolution for our phones and how to make them.

good stuff man! gave it a try and definitely works.
i tried to make a logo.bin with a white background but something went wrong...i can get the rest of the screen to turn white but the logo background goes back to black. i'm attaching the image file i'm using. i'll upload my logo.bin if i can get it to work.
EDIT:
the upload compresses the pic. here's the link to full size moto logo.

EDIT:
Ha! Success! Zip file with the white background logo is attached.
That's exactly what I'm wanting for my phone, except maybe a light gray instead of white.

Uploaded the white background version of it.
And if anyone else wants to make their own boot logo using an image they like, here's what I did (got the info from a bunch of google searching)
Since I'm on windows, i got gimp for windows from here:
http://www.gimp.org/downloads/
1. Open the image file of your preference In GIMP.
2. Go to Image > Scale Image. Change the width and height to 540x540 (make sure to UNLINK the width and height dimensions by clicking the chain-link to the right of the width and height input box). Select OK.
3. Now Flatten the image. Go to Image > Flatten Image.
4. Now go to Colors > Components > Channel Mixer.
Select Red Output and change the values for Red from 100 to 0 and Blue from 0 to 100.
Select Blue Output and change the values for Red from 0 to 100 and Blue from 100 to 0.
This will make the colors look off but thats fine. The phone will process the image and the colors will show up true on the screen.
5. Time to save the file. From the menu, select File - Save and save the file with the GIMP extension (xcf).
6. Then, select File > Export. Change the extension from xcf to bin, and then select File type and select RAW Image Data. Save.
7. Take the bin file that's created, rename it to logo.bin. There you go. Now you can flash it using fastboot (fastboot flash logo logo.bin) or replace the logo.bin file in the zip that Youngunn created.

The white logo with white background looks really neat! Can you give a quick step by step on how to apply it? Previously I just used ADB commands, but I don't know if that would suffice.

I'm not sure what you're asking.
If you want to know how to flash the zip, you could do it in CWM or you can extract the logo.bin from it and flash it through fastboot. boot into ap fastboot mode on your phone. put the logo.bin file in the same folder as your fastboot files and then flash using the command "fastboot flash logo logo.bin"
If you want to create your own logo, follow the steps in Post #5
as for the background, from what I read on google, the color of the background is the same color as the border (1 pixel thickness) of the image you use.

Hello people of XDA!!!
As you may know, my name is AFAinHD, and I'm here to show you, how you can create your very own boot animation.
What you will need:
A brain (Hey you bought a Nexus 7, you must have a brain laying around somewhere right?)
Notepad++
WinRAR
A root file explorer on your Nexus 7, I use Root Browser.
A rooted Nexus 7 (Duhh. )
Okay so now that you got your stuff, lets get to it.
First things first, lets round up our pictures that we want to be in the boot animation.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This is important, all of your pictures must be in .png or .jpg format, and they must be named like (something001, something002, something003, and so on.)
Now that we have our pictures all ready to go, lets start putting them into proper folders.
Let's just make a folder on our desktop called "New Boot Animation"
Now lets go ahead and put a subfolder here and name it "part0" (you can name it what ever you want but this is what I will be referring to later in the thread)
Now lets move all of our pictures into part0.
Now that we've got that we are going to have to make a text file telling the system what to do with these pictures.
Remember that program I told you to download? Notepad++? Here is where you need it.
Open up NotePad++ and create a new file.
Now the file is going to look like this...
Code:
808 1288 19
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1
Now let me just explain what all that means,
"808 1288" This is the resolution of your boot animation, for the Nexus 7 this is Width - 808 by Height - 1288.
"19" This is your frame rate, or the speed at which your boot animation will be playing by frames per second.
"p 1 0 part0" The "p" is telling the system to play this part, the "1" is how many times you want the system to play this folder (0 being infinate loops till boot) the "0" is how long should the system wait (in milliseconds) before playing the next folder, and "part0" is telling the system which folder to play with these settings.
So by this code I want the folder "part0" to play 1 time and then switch to folder "part1" with no delay, and I want "part1" to loop itself untill the Nexus 7 has completed it's boot.
(Remember you only need to put "part1" if you are going to have more than one folder playing)
Now lets go ahead and put this file into our main folder, and lets name it "desc.txt".
Okay, now we have the folders all completed. Now all we have to do is make this into a zip file.
Let's open up WinRAR and go into our folder.
Now lets select all the files and hit the button "add".
Now lets go ahead and change the archive name to "bootanimation"
On the left side change the archive format to Zip.
Right below that change the compression method to "store".
Now at the bottom hit "ok".
Now go check out your main folder, there will be a new file called bootanimation.zip.
(If you want to make your bootanimation flashable, that will be explained later on, be patient.)
Now go ahead and connect your Nexus 7 and move your bootanimation.zip to the root of your storage.
Now lets make it to our Nexus 7.
Go ahead and open your root file browser.
Go ahead and find your bootanimation.zip and copy it.
Now go to system>media
Now in this folder you will see your current bootanimation.zip, back it up, delete it, or rape it, it's your choice, but after that paste your new bootanimation.zip into this folder.
Now, restart your tablet, and profit. :laugh:
Thanks for hitting thanks!!!
So now you have your boot animation complete, and now you want to make it so you can share it easily with other people.
Well now let's learn how to make this baby flashable.
First thing you are going to need to know is the folder set-up that you will using for the flashable.zip.
This is what is gonna be in the .zip file.
Code:
META-INF-->com-->google-->android
system-->media
Here is what it should look like.
Now under META-INF-->com-->google-->android we are going to have to make a text file to tell the recover partition what to do.
We are going to make a file called "updater-script"
You will be making this file in notepad++
Now here is what my updater script looks like,
Code:
ui_print("Thanks for downloading the AFAinHD Beautiful Boot, lets flash this. Let me mount system real quick.");
run_program("/sbin/mount", "/system");
ui_print("Let me just extract these files for you");
package_extract_dir("system", "/system");
ui_print("Here I'll go ahead and unmount system...");
run_program("/sbin/umount", "/system");
ui_print("Your AFAinHD Beautiful Boot has been flashed. Please go to XDA and give me a thanks if you like this bootanimation!");
Now let me help you understand this.
ui_print("XXX");
This command just displays some sort of text on the screen when the .zip is flashing.
run_program("/sbin/mount", "/system");
This mounts the system partition so it can be modified.
package_extract_dir("system", "/system");
This extracts the bootanimation itself (I will get to this later)
run_program("/sbin/umount", "/system");
This unmounts the system partition.
Now that is a simple explanation to making an updater script, just remember to always put the ; after each command.
Now just save that file under META-INF-->com-->google-->android.
You will also need to put a file called update-binary here. This file only works for the nexus 7. Here is the file - here.
Now let's put the bootanimation in the system-->media folder.
Now we just have to compile it into a flashable.zip file.
There you go. Now you have your very own flashable boot animation.
Remember to hit that thanks button, leave feedback, and check out my AFAinHD Beautiful Boots for some awesome flashable boot animations.
Post #3 reserved just incase.
Nice write up, but could you also include the min/max number of images for a bootanimation.
Thank you kind sir.

I haven't found a minimum or a maximum.
I just know you should try to keep it below 300 for size reasons, but u could have just one image on an infinite loop and it would work as a still image.

You can make the boot animations in a wide variety of programs, I make my Beautiful Boots in Cinema 4D and After Effects. Hell some people even make them in paint. You can use any image software that you are good at, this thread assumes that you already know how to make the pictures before hand, we don't want to spoon feed the noobs, we gotta teach them how to fend for themselves.

Hey everyone!
I was really fascinated with the clean front look the OnePlus One had and decided that when the phone booted up, it had to compliment the sleek, black screen with less disturbances such as the white OnePlus logo and the "Powered by Android" when it first boots up. I also really liked how CM incorporated the boot logo with the boot animation that made it seemlessly transition to the uncurling of the OnePlus logo.
However, I'm not into that kinda thing. I like the phone to feel professional, with a minimalistic looks in all aspects. So I designed my own boot sequence look, including the logo.bin and the theme apk.
This boot layout is really a hit or miss. If you're not into it after a while just reflash stock logo.img and disable this theme.
WHAT THIS PACK INCLUDES

Fastboot Logo
Boot Animation (Selectable in Theme Engine)
SCREENSHOTS
GIF files don't play the full frames per second as intended. Use the GIF below as a reference to how the animation appears, however it cannot compare to the actual speed of the boot animation when it is played on the device.

Alright, lemme do a last guess, but can we get a little more clarification?
- Same black background
- Red "oneplus" with our heartbeat animation
- Our approach of "powered by android" with our font? (or default font?) [fading animation from between the logo.img and the boot animation?]
I noticed a problem in the logo.img script and am at work at fixing it to align it!
Update coming in 2 hours. For the "one" variant. If you're using the "one" version, do not continue using it! It's not the true boot up experience
UPDATE: "one" version has been updated - download "one-ver2.0 (260914).zip" from OP

Yeess, correct..!!
oneplus text or oneplus logo with red color would be just fine.
Regarding the powered by android font, I will leave that to you.
Your font is fine, default font would also looks nice...
Thanks.
can't wait to see the bootanimation soon..

Alright gotcha. Sorry we're a bit busy trying to solve some issues when uploading the apk on the Play Store. Better for us to cater the updates all at once, without people losing out on the latest version.
Yes, we have fixed the "oneplus" and "android" versions to have a seemless boot sequence.

Hey everyone!
NOTE: This was made for the Bamboo OnePlus One, exclusively. It may not gain as much popularity, but it was made to cater to those who have the Bamboo edition OnePlus One, or people with a Bamboo Styleswap and love using it.
This was designed to completely replace the Bamboo OnePlus One's boot animation, to create a more exclusive and unique boot animation. This is also to commemorate OnePlus' 1 year anniversary.
"竹智" is the term OnePlus uses to express "The spirit of bamboo lies within this phone". I tried to capture OnePlus' traditional motifs with the Chinese characters, as well as to capture ColorOS's round and puffy look on the loading animations to allow for a nice, sleek, dark boot animation.
This works on all CM11 and CM11S ROMs with theme engine. When CM12 Theme Engine is released, I will rework this boot animation for it.
WHAT THIS PACK INCLUDES
Splash Screen Replacement (Overwrites Red/White OnePlus logo with "Powered by Android")
Fastboot Logo
Boot Animation (Selectable in Theme Engine)
VIDEO
REQUIREMENTS
Unlocked Bootloader (For Splash Screen replacement and Fastboot logo)
ROM with CM11 Theme Engine (For Boot Animation)
Fastboot installed on your computer - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
INSTALLATION OF BOOT ANIMATION
Download the app from a Play Store link below.
Go to CM11's Theme Engine (On Mahdi it's called "Themes") in Settings then click on "Boot animations"
Scroll down to "Bamboo OnePlus BootAni" then tick "Boot Animation", then click Update.
INSTALLATION OF BOOT LOGO/SPLASH SCREEN (DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS ON CM12 ROMS, IT WILL BRICK YOU)
Reboot your phone into Fastboot mode (When fully turned off, hold down VOLUME UP + POWER until you see "Fastboot mode")
Place "logo.bin" into your fastboot folder (FOUND ON THE PLAY STORE LINK DESCRIPTION!)
In the fastboot folder, press Shift + Right click on a blank area. Click on "Open command window here"
Type fastboot flash LOGO logo.bin and press enter. After complete type in fastboot reboot
DOWNLOADS
Open up the description on the Play Store links to get the latest logo.bin files! Thanks!

I never planned for this to replace your stock Theme Engine boot animation, but do you plan to replace it on CM12 roms? If that's what you intend, I have one notice for you, there would be a "flash-to-black" part in the transition between the logo.bin and bootanimation.zip...this is due to CM12 commits and I can't control it.
I'll upload the zip in a bit.

Sweet, thank you!
I have tried to flash the boot animation on my One plus. As I do have a Bamboo cover. However, it does not seem to work on CM12 unofficial. Should it be able to flash on Android L. If not is there a way to do it. Thank you.

We have to wait for an update as OnePlus stupidly released their alpha version which broke tons of features including a modem and the boot partitions.
Thank you for the reply. I did look as some of the jpegs - nice. I would use it when possible.

Is there a special process when trying to add this bootanimation for Lollipop roms? I've tried it on a couple roms (aosp and cm12) but was a no go. I moved the zip like normal to the media folder, changed the name, set permissions and rebooted.

These themes are compatible with TWRP versions 3.0.0-0 to 3.0.2-0 and only portrait mode. They are 1080 x 1920 resolution, and TWRP will scale to other resolutions. I'm not sure how the graphics will look at a higher resolution on a large tablet screen, since the largest screen I have to test on is a 7" screen.
The themed images were created by Primokorn and NorthLight and are used with permission. The graphics were originally used in themes for an older version of TWRP. I used the xml code from the stock theme as a base to start from, and modified it for the graphics I'm using. Credit for the theme's xml code goes to TeamWin and z31s1g, and the "chmod 644" button/function code is from fichl.
Changelog--
2017-02-01: I have added a HoloLight theme for MultiROM-TWRP 3.00 - 3.0.2. See below for the screenshots and download link.
2016-04-15: Translation updates - added Italian, Czech and Polish and significant updates to Dutch (from TWRP 3.0.1 source)
Minor Mods to several images
Fixed layout bugs in file manager-fileselector and install-fileselector screens
Changes in the "About" screen to reflect the change in TWRP version
Changed theme version number to better match TWRP version
2016-03-04: Added a "chmod 644" button to the file manager.
DOWNLOAD THE THEME YOU LIKE, AND FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Download the theme you like.
2. Rename it to "ui.zip".
3. Copy or move the file into the folder: /sdcard/TWRP/theme - (create the "theme" folder if it does not exist - make sure it's all lower-case)
4. Boot into TWRP, or from within TWRP 3.0.x, tap on "Advanced", then "Reload Theme" and your new theme should be applied.
5. ENJOY!
You use these themes at your own risk - there is no guarantee. Neither I nor the staff of XDA will be held responsible if you brick your phone or tablet, or if these themes eat your cat.

Editing splash background in latest 3.0.1.0 doesn't work, can you have a look. Only a black background and then twrp loads. I have tried with your background image as well as a different one made by me. Here is the one I am trying, it's a bit bigger in size.

This is for Verizon variant devices. I will update the Splash_EmptyTemplate.zip android.info.txt (needed to show the correct OS in Download Mode) along with the Unlocked hTC 10 Splash I've included below, as we get new OTAs.
***DISCLAIMER - FLASH AT OWN RISK - IF THIS BREAKS YOUR PHONE, DON'T BLAME ME***
Requirements:
S-OFF and Bootloader unlocked/locked is fine for HTC 10 though
ADB Installed
Instructions:
- Download Splash Flasher v1.0
- Extract the downloaded SplashFlasher_1.0.zip
- Find the image you wish to use, and resize it to 1440 width, 2560 height
- Open the Splash Flasher folder and where it says "place-image-here" place your correctly sized image
- Double-Click the CLICK-HERE.bat and press any key
- You will see the option to convert .png .jpg and .bmp images (options 2, 3, 4)
- Whatever format your image is, is the one you choose (you can have images for all 3 formats in the "place-image-here" folder but no more than one of each format)
- Once you choose 2, 3, or 4 to convert the image, open "place-image-here" folder and you will now see the new file: "custom.img"
- Rename the custom.img to splash1.nb0 (yes, change the extension from .img to .nb0)
- Download this Splash Empty Template - 1.82x
Splash Empty Template - 2.41x I created
- Place the splash1.nb0 file you created into my Splash_EmptyTemplate.zip and now you are on your way to enjoying your new splash screen
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
Code:
fastboot flash zip NameOfSplash.zip
Code:
fastboot reboot
I have created a Splash Screen based off the Unlocked hTC 10 Variant. (See attached image)
Download -1.82x

I'll update this post and create the Splash... Not everyone is able to get to a PC, or may not be able to create the .zip - for whatever reason, so when images are posted by users it'd be nice to give them the option to download and flash the Splash.

I have used this splash screen since my Evo3D (credits to the original creator, it's been so long, I don't remember). I resized it for my M8, and again for my hTC 10. Screenshot & splash1.nb0 attached for anyone interested.
If anyone knows...when I do a normal reboot, my custom splash greets me as expected. But, if I reboot to recovery or download mode (via APM, ADB, or bootloader menu) I get a splash screen with a silver hTC on a black background. Is this a secondary splash? On my other phones, I'm pretty sure I always got PennyWise no matter how I rebooted.

Editing the splash screen has always been a fun start for me to making the device yours once you get S-OFF. I love being able to play around and customize to when I feel like it. And, yea that white is just terrible, why they try to blind us is beyond me. The unlocked variant gets black.
