You said you deleted the stock mail app but it is still showing in your screenshot
Is it still showing in Settings=>Apps? If it is just disable it.
Tried it but nothing worked

I am using Stock GB version 20G... My Messaging App is showing "1" home screen but there are no texts. I have tired.. Battery pull, trying another sim card, deleted Messages data...
I can't think of anything else to try and don't want to do a hardware reset...
Any ideas???.
I had the same problem and solved by deleting the sms database.
You have to delete /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db
That's the SMS database file. After that, reboot your phone and try to receive a SMS to regenerate the file.
You can backup that file just in case.
Cheers!

When ever iv had that problem I just waited for another message and it cleared the 1 away.
Still got it showing 1 on the homescreen Messaging app. Deleted all android data on internal sd & external sd. Been texting off/on since it happened Friday. Just trying to ignore it but am sure it will delete itself after a couple of weeks lol (I hope).
U could try flash a new ROM if u want. Lol
For me, deleting the file with Root Explorer did the trick.

Just thought I would mention that its strangely sorted it self lol. As it was New Years, sent loads of texts and let them build up and it was showing 23 on Messaging App. Left them for a while and then started to read each one.
For some reason, this then refreshed the amount of messages and its not showing any texts unread now . Seems yet another bug with the O2X?.

If you are using an alternative messaging app, then you need to disable the notifications from the stock messaging app. Otherwise it will always be showing that there are unread messages.

Try and send yourself loads of texts and let them build up.. Then click on them one by one. That's what sorted mine, but got 23 texts from.different people on New Years Eve lol.
Hi
I'm using the Samsung Mail App and Push Mail via m.google.com (GMAIL). The problem is that the status bar notification isn't updating. As soon as I get an email it pops up, but when I delete the mail in another mail prog like thunderbird, the symbol just stays in the status bar.
On the other hand, the counter pinned to the app itself is working just fine. It's really just the status bar which isn't updating.
It's working fine with the GMAIL app though.
Any idea?
Really no one? Is it working for you guys!?
I've always had that, if I get the mail from my server on my laptop, the notification does not go away. I think it just the way it works.
I agree it is not ideal.
It's certainly not the way it works for the gmail app or HTC. My desire updates the status bar in a matter of seconds...
Also the samsung app counts wrong. It counts every email you got, it doesn't matter if you deleted it on the PC before. So if you got 30 emails over the day in the evening it'll tell you "30 new emails" besides that there is not a new one in the in folder...
Anyone please?

Hi.
I'm on Voda UK and my SMS notification won't clear, even after I've read the message. The notification light stops flashing, but I still show a (1) on the SMS icon. I cleared out all the texts the first couple of times to check there wasn't a message I had missed and it worked once the box was empty, but I don't want to keep doing that, for obvious reasons.
Is this a solvable problem? Ta!
Restart your phone.

I had the same problem too, only way to get rid of the sms notification counter was by deleting the text but next time it happens I'll try the restart option.
Does not help to restart phone...I have same problem!

I have restarted, removed battery, hard boot, still says I have 12 new messages and I have none. I have deleted all text messages, all mms, no luck!
Hey, my wife has the xperia tl, completely stock, and upgraded to latest update. Recently, the push notifications for text messages have stopped, so she doesn't know that she has any texts unless she opens the stock texting app (she doesn't use non-stock texting app). All the settings in the texting app are correct, and I've spent some time on Google, but can't find anything. So, asking for help on this.

I am not sure if I understand you correctly with "push notifications". But if your wife's phone has Extended Standby function enabled, reminder notifications are actually not working.
You may consider giving Smart Notify a try (Google Play).
No status bar notification, no indication at all that a new text has come. Facebook and email notifications work fine.
Extended standby is not enabled. Smart Notify, even with correct settings, does not alleviate the problem. Other ideas?

If you place a Contacts Direct Message shortcut on your screen, does it show the no. 1 when a message has been received from this contact?
I am a noob, so don't expect anything from my input, just ideas regarding things I'd try.
