Hi,
you can't flash ROMs via flashtool, only kernels and bootloaders.
Try:
1. Format sd on PC with FAT32
2. Insert sd into X8
3. Format sd with with X8 (over Settings)
4. Try to mount sd over ClockworkMod's Mounting menu

1. Power off phone
2. Power on and hold volume down key to boot straight to recovery
3. Try flash again
Might be wrong here but I thought that to flash a rom you put it on the exteranl sd card and reboot in to recovery and then choose install zip from sdcard and then choose your file. there are a few files which you rename to "update.zip" and follow the process you have done but I sure a rom flash isn't that way.

OP cannot mount sd-card in recovery. What I mentioned was a workaround to enable mounting of sd-card. Once OP is able to mount sd-card then he is able to flash rom.
You need a physical SD to flash via CWM...

Yeah that's right you should put the whatever.zip somewhere on an external SD card. CWM cannot mount internal SD yet...
(just summarizing hat you guys above me said because OP might get confused )
Yeah u can only put a rom on by using an external sd card not the internal

Hi,
I am trying to update ATT Captivate from Froyo to Gingerbread. I first copied zip file into sd and flash back to stock JF6 rom. Then I did a facotry reset which erase everytthing on SD and I forget to copy zip file back again. I then used Apex flasher to flash GB 2.3.3 bootloader and the kernel. Now I can get into CWM recovery but there is not zip file I can flash. Does this happens to anyone before and what is the solution?
Thanks
you should be able to mount your sd card from cwm and drag the zip from your computer. I haven't tried it yet myself, but I saw that it was possible on one of the mobile tech reviews.

EDIT: mobile tech video, not review. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOyx5JQ_8_I&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Yes it works.
I do it all the time while testing, get finished compiling an apk and throwing it in a zip, then get too exited and boot into recovery before I copy it over
Mounts and storage> mount USB storage

I've tried this and when i chose "mount usb storage" shows up "E:Unable to write to ums lungile (No such file)" what is that file? and then i chose "mount /sdcard" shows up "Error mounting /sdcard" I've tried flashing stock rom by flashtool and i flashed miniCM 7 second time.
I bought new SD because with other SD everything is fine. I've tried change format to FAT32 and did not help. most likely this card is broken..

That will not delete the sd-ext and swap partitions if you have them.
If you have a card reader, you can do it manually by using MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition. I did it that way and had no problems at all, just watch out what are you doing
Flash Stock ROM. settings >storage>format SD card
PS: Would work only on stock ROM. Wont work in CM7.

If they do not know what partitions are, then why would they make them on their sdcard anyway? If they can't make a difference between "Local Disk C", "NTFS FileSystem" (talking about Windows, Linux can create confusion) and "Removable Disk X" and "FAT", "EXT2/3/4", then i have anything other to say then - go to a roof of a building and jump off it

Hi guys,
Sorry for the question. I have my moms note. I am good at flashing but I cant seem what went wrong here. I was on official ICS.
I upgraded to leaked Jellybean, all worked wonders, I was on LS7 with Philz kernel. But then I lost root, I read there was a fix for that but then I discovered the problem I need hel with.
I CANT COPY ANYTHING TO INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL STORAGE!!! I tried everything. Wipes, reflash, fix permissions, etc., even format the sd card. But I canĀ“t copy anything....I have checked if they are mounted and no problem. Camera can write to sd. Cant even open Gallery because it says INSUFFICIENT MEMORY. But the phone and card are empty!!!
This had never happened to me....Can anyone help me?
Owww....I so sad...
Just tried with another sd card andd couldnt flash philz new kerenl....signature error....
Im on JB installed via Odin.
Tried installi rocket rom form stock recovery..... starts, android appears and reappears and then it boots back in recovery....
I had the same problem (not enough storage) with Rocketrom and Philz Kernel. I switched to Hydracore V7 and Utackas Paranoidandroid with a full wipe and had no problem ever since. Don't know what caused the problem.

when you flashed the rom again, did you do proper wipes? If not very much concerned about data and apps, the try
make sure you have the rom in your sd card
boot into cwm philz recovery
mounts and storage
format /system
format /data
format /cache
format/preload
then go ahead and install the rom again. restes
Use es file explorer, go to sd card, tap menu then settings then file settings and select show hidden in files, you should now see a folder called. Trash100 it will be full of all your deleted items, although your sd is empty the files are still there just hidden
Delete that folder and reboot. Same applies to external sd too.

I took out the micro sd, copied the zipfiles over to it with an external card reader and flashed the phone with the new rom. Was the only way I was able to do it, everything else failed. Maybe it will work for you this way also?

Nope. All works now except for airview and snote. I tried to flash fixes but I get installation aborted via cwm recovery. I will try mobile odin.
At least I can access both sd cards...

Welll apps weren`t a problem since my moms uses almost none LOL.
I went all the way back to 2.3.6, upgraded to 4.0.4 via KIES, rooted with stock recovery, nandroid backup here. Up to here everything working. Went to flash JB and could only flash TWM build. All still worked. I wanted to flash rocket rom but i still get same error of "Installation aborted".
Actual setup is working, without Snote (cant flash fix) and without airview (ditto).
Still missing to try to flash via Mobile Odin.
you couldn't flash rocket rom over ics?
may be the downloaded rom was corrupt. download again

xxls2 is available in TAR format... on sammobile.com.. you can flash it using mobile odin or PC odin.. the others .. you cannot use mobile odin
