Hey man I am getting confused about 4.2 cuz first I hear it is going to be key lime pie and now I just read over at DROID LIFE about the SAMSUNG NEXUS 10 with picture's of the device running 4.2 saying that it's a modified version of jellybean what gives. It's nice looking though

So far their saying 4.2 is still JB....but who knows for sure yet. I just anxious to get it, no matter what's its called!

What gives is Jelly Bean just came out. ICS is still JUST rolling out to handsets. Do you think Google would tick off OEMs by calling a minor software revision Key Lime Pie (thus putting most manufacturers 2 updates behind)?
Or maybe it will be Key Lime Pie. Think maybe we should wait until the event and find out?

Yes they are probably right. As jelly bean is a modified version of ice cream sndwich. Just performance enhancements etc but no drastic changes to the ui.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah that's pretty much what I see as well the article says that some of the enhancements will be done to the camera and short cuts to your settings and of course gmail also wifi but mostly it looks the same but here is to hoping

Maybe they should call it a brand new version "Key Lime Pie", maybe some of these manufacturer's should speed up their processes and get the updates out quicker. Although, half the issue is the carriers need to agree as well. We all see how fast the dev community can do it and these manufacturer's have WAY more resources and direct contact to Google.

Hi guys,
I've been reading up on some nexus 7 stuff but I'm pretty new to it and was running 4.1.2 until recently, I see 4.2.2 was released but couldn't see any concrete feedback on how it compares to say custom roms like smoothrom based on 4.2.1. Do you guys find it better than say smooth rom in UI performance and battery? I'm not sure if I should change to 4.2.2 or stick with 4.2.1 custom roms with performance/smoothness tweaks for now.
Thanks
Smoother here.
I found my N7 sped up with 4.2.1 anyway when I cleared up some space. Havn't loaded it down since, so that may be the reason.
The main reason I want back to 4.1, was the broken Bluetooth Audio, but that also seems to be much improved in 4.2.
Will give rooted 4.2.2 stock a shot then, thanks
I've been on 4.2.2 for a few hours and I must say the wireless appears to be erratic! I'm sitting between 2 APs with same SSID so I don't know if the roaming settings are too aggresive...but seems worse than 4.2 was
I'm hoping Bluetooth is better than it was as my creative headset would constantly go out of sync on 4.2!

I'm running the latest Paranoid Android 4.2.2 nightly and it's running perfect. The Bluetooth works with the flashable zip fix just fine. I use my sixaxis controller with it and it's flawless. Benchmarks are about the same as before, but I don't really pay attention to them. I would recommend updating, I regret not doing it sooner.

I am actually noticing better WiFi performance with 4.2.2. I don't have to use better WiFi anymore, it switches seamlessly between my 2 routers with the same ssid. 4.2.2 made my nexus 7 run a lot smoother and faster, all around it was a good decision to upgrade.

Bluetooth was pretty much screwed on all devices by 4.2.x. I have a Nexus 7 and a HTC One XL, which I used to tether via bluetooth. This worked perfectly when both devices were on 4.1.2. Now the devices pair and the Nexus 7 claims to be using the One XL for internet connectivity, but it doesn't work and says network unreachable when I ping from terminal.
I never use bluetooth audio on my Nexus, but I do use it on my One XL. That's pretty much screwed since 4.2.x as well, with poor quality and crackling. There's a massive google bug report thread on it, which actually looks like I've not got it as bad as a lot of people!
Where do you find the flashable bluetooth fix? Is it just for Nexus 7?
cyanogenmod 10.1/ 4.2.2 my nexus 7 is now a lot smoother than on 4.2.1!

Hi there,
I use stock 4.2.2 with apex launcher and its the most fluent and rapid thing. Scrolling feels so good. I am new to nexus 7 and JB, but from what i have seen so far im loving it.
In terms of web browsing and performance in general its quite good. I had galaxy tab 2 7" before nexus and it just not match the smotherness and performance of the N7. Its impressive.

Funny, i never use landscape. Only for media play, or some games that come landed by default.
Apart of that, i always use it 'phone-wise'.

Kind of agree however not bad having them grouped by their OS either so it's easy for noobs. Plus some of these I forgot about since they don't get much activity.
yea thats why i said i like this one the most of the 3 we have
Why dont i suggest for aokp 4.1.2 add the version from theAPANT. Its completed and more active with all due respect to irx buil.

I can see there is some discord regarding this thread... As someone who has been away for a few/several months largely working with a Galaxy Nexus, I'd like to say I found the organization of this extremely helpful.
while for ages the Exhibit had one or two circa "peach sunrise" now there are so many other threads under the heading
Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4G > Galaxy Exhibit 4G Android Development
I can appreciate the nature of this community isn't to spoon feed noobs and those that done't want to do some reading - but when there are soo many projects, many of whom claim in the OP that "everything works" - only to dig in and install to face issues with BT or GPS or etc....???
A master thread with some grid / chart / color coding / a brief overview of projects / or indication of what some safe best bets would be could be most helpful. The arrangement of this thread in particular really brought to light what was happening here as far as what may be most current. I'm thankful for it at a level more advanced people who are here all the time probably don't appreciate.
When there is just sooooo much stuff sometimes it's hard to know where to start. Took me three tries to get something going that actually worked on all the fronts I needed it to. Ended up with the AOIP, which seems an hour or so in to be working beautifully - and thinking I should've tried baked bean too. Slim Bean was a disaster with Bluetooth, otherwise fantastic... but for now I'm very grateful and sticking with something that seems to work at the moment.
Even if this thread is closed - it could/may be a good model for a chart/grid of info to have down the road in others
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ohh: and if I could make a suggestion for the OP - put a link to the Jocala thread with the original community ROM and/or the original ROM, at the top, then name the first segment Gingerbread Customs - it keeps the flow of the rest of the chart as the base is the key...this is quite a little nit picking fuss buckety observation...THANK YOU ALL

I would like to recommend Android 4.3 to the list, its on this thread (link below) under the downloads section, click the button to see more info/links. Included in that same section is 4.3 GAPPS. By the Insomnia Team.
I am in no way affiliated with them, just trying to recommend an addition to this page, try not to be too harsh on me for trying to be helpful, thanks

I remember reading that the original Nexus 7 had a Bluetooth Low-Energy compatible Broadcom chip, but that stock Android didn't have support for Bluetooth 4.0/LE. With the released 4.3 which labels 4.0/LE support as a key feature, has anyone running 4.3 managed to get BLE functioning or tested it at all?
Based on my tests, our last-gen Nexus 7s haven't got support for it with 4.3.
I use the API 18 and there is a BLE sample in SDK, I build it and put it into my nexus 7 with android 4.3. The BLEsample app show "BLE not support".

Like the Galaxy Nexus, the 7 was not FCC certified for BT4.0, only BT3.0.
The old 7 will NOT have BT4.0, even on Android 4.3 and up.
Might be possible using custom ROM. Like cynogenmod. I wish they could put support for that feature.

Just picked up a replacement One and it's on the original version. The thing is it seems snappier than my last phone on 4.3. I'm really debating NOT updating at all and see if 4.3 gets a maintenance update. Anyone agree that 4.1.2 was faster, smoother? opinions?
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
You talking about stock Sense 4.3 or a specific rom?
They both feel the same to me. (I was on 4.1.2 and then switched to AOSP 4.3 and jsut came back to Sense 4.3)
Having had three replacement Ones and many android phones, I guarantee it'll slow down in time. Android always feels faster for the first few days. Call it placebo or maybe the systems data bases aren't populated yet, but 4.3 is just as fast as 4.1, if not more so.
I'm experiencing the opposite. 4.3 features mostly performance updates and most importantly, trim. At least for me personally 4.3 is performing much better

How can you even tell with a phone like this...
Lets not forget that 4.3 came with the constant memory deletion feature if I'm correct. Where it's always cleaning up your drive~~

Yeah feels faster for me. No more using that lagfix app to manually trim.
It feels faster to me but with 4.3 I have a host of Bluetooth issues

Only issue I've had so far on 4.3 is the Bluetooth Audio on phone calls seems to get static when I get more than a few feet away from the phone where as it used to seem to let me get further before I heard static, might just be my headset though, I break those things fairly quickly...
