Hi!,
Which one is faster - Snapdragon 600 @1,7GHz or S4 Pro @1,7GHz ? And how much? Thanks for help
Some 25% faster to the 600.
it's big difference, BTW in benchmarks or games
In general. 600 chip has a faster gpu, Adreno 330 vs Adreno 320 ( twice as powerful according to some sources) on the S4 so you would expecta better performance both in games and general performance. Faster DDR3 vs DDR2 ram, etc.
no, bro. Snapdragon 800 has Adreno 330 (2x faster than 320). Snapdragon 600 has "only" Adreno 320.
So, if for me the most important is performance, should I buy HTC One ? I hate Samsung and Samsung's plastics.
Yeah I mixed things up there. But yeah, expect the 600 to be a better performer. May I ask why are you asking? Trying to decide between S4 and Z?
no, but I am trying to decide between HTC One and Xperia Z.
Xperia Z is waterproof, but it has worse screen than One and S4 Pro @1,5GHz (I can overclock to 1,7GHz+). HTC One has better screen, the best speakers and Snapdragon 600. What would you choose?
I lost two phones because of water damage beefore getting the Z, so the answer is quite obvious.
I like the One a lot, but I love the Z so much. Between an S4 and a 600 is still close, if it was against the 800 the answer would be easier.
It's a tie in my book, but water resistance is a must for me after losing some 1000€ in water damaged phones
I destroyed Nokia 500, also in water. I'm afraid that I will lost another phone, so I am going to buy waterproof one. I will buy Xperia Z and if I don't like it, I will return phone to shop. After that I will buy HTC One. Good idea?
Sounds fair. If shopbpolicy allows you to do that, go ahead and demo the Z.
In my country it is possible to 10 days (if I buy it on e-store). Tomorrow I am buying Xperia Z. Thanks for help. Do you know any waterproof case to HTC One?
HTC One as i love it but i love xperia z too.
But i will suggest you to get HTC ONE that device is god's creation

the only waterproof case right now for the HTC one is a zip lock bag, the s4 has several.
The 600 is 15% faster clock for clock compared to the S4 Pro. The Adreno 320 GPU is just as fast on both. I wouldn't decide on the One just based off CPU, the S4 Pro is still very powerful (Nexus 7 2013?) And I wouldn't worry about performance on either of these devices

I played with butterfly s just now. Damn it's so smooth like I just can't explain. It's way smoother than the z. If I hadn't bought the z, I would definitely get the butterfly s considering the larger battery, beautiful screen and micro sd and the smoothness to me is on par or better than iPhone 5.

i sold my htc one to get the xz and there is not much of a difference in performance but battery life is a little better on the one
why not go for the Z ultra instead? hardware in that will nuke all other handsets available now....plus you get improved water resistance

You can't fit that in the pocket. And its embarassing to see you with a 'TV' near your ear when you make a phone call.

Hey i may have the opportunity to swap my galaxy s iii for a Xperia T i was just wondering if anyone has made the change from S3 to T?
Or just what are your thought on the swap?
Why would you wanna swap the S3 for a XT? Doesn't make sense, the S3 is a lot more powerful. I doubt anyone would swap phones, if you have an S3, it'd be a downgrade.
Do you by any chance mean the S2? If so, then yes, swap, the T is a lot better.
Mainly because the world and his wife has an s3. Ive also flashes the polish jb update and the phone lags now. Just fancy a change. I dont tend to stick to one phone for too long lol

There are quite a few threads of comparisons between the two. Just search.

The world and his wife will probably have an XT before long - it is the Bond phone after all.
I was considering both the S3 and XT and went for the XT. Mainly for the camera. Having lived with it for a week or two now I'm pleased I made the choice I did. (I had the Galaxy Note before but gave it to my father as his sight is failing and he loved my big screen )
I'm glad I went for the XT - camera is good and the music player is way better than my Note was. It also feels more like proper Android as Samsung TouchWiz was OK but not really to my liking.
There are some features the XT has that I like too - like the volume and power buttons not being opposite each other, location based WiFi switching, the dedicated camera button and having the music player controls on the lock screen, etc. and I prefer the XT screen.

well if you have a chance try it yourself in a shop. this kind of thread will only bring you word wars, unfortunately.
i like it more, feels better in a hand, screen is better, sony software is better, cm10 is working already better than on sgs3.
but it is your decision in the end.
and, we'll have a great kernel here, soon

I've come from an HTC One X which again is substantially more powerful than the T but I've not looked back, and that's on stock ICS. Once I get around to unlock, root and running custom ROM I'll be even happier I'm sure.

Well if you could try out the XT beforehand then that'd lower the risk of you regretting it.
Not here to start wars, but looking at the specs of each phone, I'd say the S3 is better, and thanks to its more powerful specs, it'd be more futureproof than the XT.
It won't be long before a lot of people have the XT and then you'd be in the same boat all over again.
My thoughts, try out the phone first, see how it feels, and if you want, swap it.

Specs say one thing. People who have used it say another.
As you say - try before you swap.
yeah not only specs matter.... that bothers me cause samsung has been putting out core wars and screen inch wars.. for samsung it must be bigger and more powerful.. but software and hardware deign Sucks!
My previous phone was the Galaxy S3. Now I have the Xperia T.
Speed feeling is same. Galaxy S3 has better battery. Xperia T is better in the hand (smallest).
My current favorite is Xperia T.
Coming from an S3 too, mainly because I prefer black, industrial designs with sharp edges as opposed to curves, flowers and the whole 'nature' inspiration. The stock ringtones on the S3 were just plain awful. The Sony software looks slicker than TouchWiz (althouth TouchWiz has a few extra unique features).
I do miss the speed of the S3's camera, but overall it's been worth the upgrade.
Depending on where you are the s3 doesn't really have much over the T.
Pretty sure here they are both 1.5ghz dual core devices. The s3 gets an extra gig of ram but, that's hardly a deal maker for most people.
AFAIK the quad core version of the s3 still lacks dev support and I'd take somewhat inferior specs with superior dev support.
Sent from my HTC_Flyer_P512_NA using xda app-developers app
Own both and note 2 would recommend sticking with S3.
It's a more powerful beast and battery life is better.
Screen quality far superior.
The following reasons I would recommend getting T over S3:
Better quality sound but not necessarily louder
Better camera
Better design
Better hardware
Better UI
Everything else would have goto s3. Dev support is much better with S3 hardly any support for T.
Don't get T for the sake of change as you will probably regret it unless you prefer smaller screens.
T does have some good features tho and UI is much better. Touchwiz is poor.

I got the same feeling because personally Sony and HTC have more intresting things about their software than samsung. I always easily get bored of samsung phones no matter how good battery life or hardware. My latest samsung phones since 2010 have been the GS1/2/3 and Wave and all were extremely boring. I have the HOX now and had the HOS before it and Sony Xperia S, Arc S and PLAY. Never found them boring with the xperia s was just battery life, camera auto focus took too long and audio volume and bass was nonsense and its the same again with the xperia T bar camera auto focus problem which is why i didnt get it. The ARC S and PLAY the hardware side is simply weak tbh and the fact they have so little ram they always struggled with games and apps. Personally the play was brought out too early they should have been bringing that out now and support it with 2gb RAM, Quad Core and something like adreno 320GPU or even if it was dual core with 1gb RAM and adreno 225 GPU.
300+ ram, single core and adreno 205 was not doing it atall. Its a shame though as i really like the xperia T and was going to have it as my second phone but the audio and battery life problem is a big issue.
I did that. I gave my S3 to my son an bought the Xperia T.
I can not tel you what is the better Phone. The T feels faster but thats a feeling. The browser on the S3 was faster. I am a hughe Samsung fan but a bigger Sony fan.
I can defo say the browser speed on the s3 was a flyer but I am not missing that atall, as my HOX is fast enough.
My mother and step dad, joined contracts in my mums name have played with the s3 and the XT and are not music people so they prefer the XT battery life wont be and issue either for them as they are not the kind of people that will be browsing internet alot, playing music, watching videos etc and on t mobile the XT is a bit cheaper aswell and the prefer the look and feel of the XT especially as its a bit smaller.
Not Xperia T, but what is the deal with the Xperia V?
Will it be pout in the UK, any idea when or about the prices, can't see any reference on the UK Sony site.
I'm trying to resist the Nexus 4, better spec at a much lower price thst the T.
Thanks guys!

Main feature of XV is that its waterproof. It doesn't have an SD slot from memory though which is why I didn't wait for it and went for the XT. I think it will be coming to the UK at some point but think it has been delayed because Sony didn't think it was waterproof enough and had to do some tweaks.
Regarding XT v Nexus 4 there is already a thread on that too.

The Xperia S is over £100 cheaper at my local store, it has the same spec, but I prefer the T's design - considering the S will get JB whats worth it more?
I need help with my decision!
Since when does the S have the same spec as the T? The T blows the S out of the water completely in terms of performance.

Doesn't the XS have a 12MP camera (against the XT's 13MP)? And maybe it was the S, not the V, that was missing the memory card slot. I forget and am too lazy to look up all the specs again myself.
Hi, i am going to buy a new phone, actually I am a apple user at the moment but I pass to android. I narrow the alternatives in to two. Htc Butterfly S and Xperia Z1. But build quality and water resistance are the pros of Xperia z1. Can you help me to choose the one. Thanks in advance...

Sony Z1:
-is cheaper (and you'll have to import the Butterfly S, it's only released in Asia)
-has a battery almost as big as the Butterfly S's, (3000mah vs 3200mah)
-has a faster processor (snapdragon 800 vs snapdragon 600)
-has a lot better camera (not just more megapixels)
-is made of metal (Butterfly S is all plastic)
-is dust proof and water resistant, more than 1 meter for 30 minutes Sony claims
-has a Triluminos display with X-Reality Engine, whatever that means
2 reasons to pick the Butterfly over the Z1:
1) the Z1 feel uncomfortable in the hand, it's al edges, where the Butterfly S is nicely rounded and fits perfectly in the hand
2) dual front speakers on the Butterfly S, imho that's where speakers are suppesed to be
Z1 wasn't available when i bought my Butterfly S, not sure what i would've bought if they would've been released at the same time, the fact you probably will need to import the Butterfly S might make it an easier choice...

I will visit to Azerbaijan in January htc butterfly s is available there and I am planning to get it from there. My hesitations about Z1 are the screen and battery (most of the reviews says that it is not well enough ). Butterfly s's screen is awesome and the battery is so well. Of course z1 has a great build quality but anyway it is a tough decision
The downside of the water proofing is all those dust covers that annoyed the crap out of me with the Xperia Z and it feels like a large flat brick in my hand, it's ok on the iPhone cuz it's smaller. I went for the BFS and loving it, specially battery life, I could care less for the other specs cuz these phones are now faster than my laptop. One thing to add is I can't use a phone without HTC sense, to me all others look n feel inferior.

You plan buying a phone in Azerbaijan? It's like 200 bucks more I bought mine from UAE for 700$ here it's ~850$ (I live in Azerbaijan). I don't like the Xperia phones cause the device is really uncomfortable, I have never had a water resistant phone and guess what I still have almost all of my phones here in my drawer and all of them are working And the UI on the Xperia devices is awful, it's really ugly, it's something stuck between AOSP and a custom skin by the OEM and boring whereas HTC Sense is just beautiful and you can customize it the way you want with the new Venom One ROM
Hope I helped
I can suggest a website for online ordering if you want. It's way cheaper there

I was also thinking about it... but Butterfly S has a Hello Kitty version... so expensive but it's a collectible! Course as a 30+ woman I have something about HK and Samsung HK phone is Galaxy Y, garbage!
A friend has Xperia Z1 and he said it's a cool phone... and HK Butterfly S has no 4G but... 4G is so expensive here that my family can't have it, my father pays my phone's bills so I must have what he wants to. The only way to have it is buying from eBay, there is a nice seller who sends EMS. Z1 I can buy anywhere here in Brazil and it costs about 705USD here, almost the same amount as HK Butterfly S. So, yes... I can't decide! :silly:

I want to buy this phone, but is actually expensive, so my question is it worth buying?Or should i wait for Htc Two?Do you have any regrets?
the only regret i have is that the LTE bands on the 901s aren't the EMEA bands (something the seller did claim, grrr), so i can't get a LTE connection, my provider uses the 800 band, but the 901s supports the 900Mhz band (and 1800 / 2100 / 2600)
600$ seems like a lot, but it's a premium phone, a galaxy s4 costs the same (here in the netherlands anyway)
what i love about the BS:
-GREAT battery life
-fast, the snapdragon 600 handles everything i throw at it
-front dual speakers, something all phone should have
-5" full hd screen
-fits very nicely in my hands, unlike the xperia z1
-looks good (i have the red version)
-rare
i never met anyone with a Butterfly S, i somehow like having something others don't
after owning the One X, which had HORRIBLE battery life, i switched to the Motorola Razr MAXX, finally a phone that could handle an entire day and still have some juice left at the end of the day
but it was lacking in power/responsiveness and i wanted a slightly bigger screen (i really wanted a 5.2" screen), with criteria like a 5" screen, great battery life AND a fast processor (and 2gb ram) the BS was the only option (at that time, the z1 was released months after i bought mine, but i just don't like the way it feels in the hand)
what i don't like?
errrr, not much
let's put it this way: for my next phone i'd like a version of the BS with
-5.2" screen (full hd or higher, but full hd is ok)
-metal housing (the BS squeaks a bit)
-better camera with optical stabilization
edit: and i want EMEA LTE bands of course
i think i should be comfortable for 2014 with this phone, so my answer is yes
Ok thanks a lot for your answer.I will make the decision to buy this phone.
Just buy it!

One month ago I was in your situation! and I did it I bought it ...One of my smartest choice ever! Battery life 3 days, good sound, superb screen good built materials and yeah I have to agree with previous comment..pretty rare just like gold
The One that could have really saved HTC
That's how I would describe this phone.
Let's see how M8 will improve over Butterfly S. Otherwise, it will be like the One Max, which did nothing for me.
in addition, i would even dare say: there's no other phone available right now that i would choose over the BS
-
Hell Yeah
Definitely man! It's worth almost every penny I payed for it. I said almost every because of no Optical Image Stabilization, but hey I still think the camera is decent, even better imho plastic housing is better than metal maybe it's because of my skin metal slips out of my hand and I was really close to damaging my sister's One once So, yeah I'd recommend you buy it The only thing I miss is Cyanogenmod
I just bought it. I had the Htc One for one week and sold it, and now i choosed Butterfly S for bigger display, battery, better cpu freqvuency.I like it and recomand it.:good:

In my country Hong Kong the X is about USD 553 whiles the Xperformance is about USD 643
Both come with a extra 1 year extended warranty on top of the original 1 year normal warranty, upgrade to a original sony QC 2.0 charger, 64GB micro sdXC card, OEM case, screen protector and a sony mobile umbrella, this is during pre order period, so a quick reply is appreciated.

I would go for the performance... I have ordered it myself.
It is water proof while the x is not. The CPU is better in all ways and you might want to use it as primary phone hehe...

I have the G5 that was purchased not long ago, this will be my main phone, the x will be a secondary phone.
isn't the SD 820 a quad core, why is all the information pointing it as a octo core 2.2/1.8.

It is an octa core but octa cores work with two times quad, one for games and high performance and one for low power consumption... ?

That was the snapdragon 810 which had overheating issues, that is not present in the 820 as far as I know.

You were right... I thought that it was still an octa core... It should be great anyways.

I'll be going for the x. I do not game, so the 820 has no real benefit. I don't know about power consumption of the 820 compared to the 650. That would be important to me.
Waterproof is a nice feature. But I never use my phone in the shower. And from my understanding, the x can handle a bit of water, rain and such, but they don't advertise it as a feature since z series also had troubles with broken phones when people used it in the swimming pool.
Price point is my biggest issue. Would have bought in a heart beat if the x was priced around 450,where it should be.

Thanks I will probably consider the X performance as I found out the hong Kong version support 4G+3G simultaneously, can't be 100% sure, but I will confirm this.
Is it possible to add the normal FM Radio app onto the X Performance? any tweak?

No.
XA & X = yes
X Performance = no
WHY!!!
Any tweak? firmware?
As far as i know the battery lifetime for X is much better than X Performance, this is mentioned in all reviews...so it seems that the battery in X Performace is a bit underpowered for the 820 i tink...

Probably due to the metal back. It's why the NFC antenna is at the front.
