Not bothered about 4.3? - Nexus 4 General

Is it just me or is anyone else not bothered about upgrading to 4.3 yet? The forum is littered with 4.3 questions/issues:
How do I get 4.3
Why have I not got 4.3 OTA yet
How to I get 4.3 OTA
How to I go back to stock to get 4.3
How do I flash 4.3 image
X app is now crashing on 4.3
I have no in call audio in 4.3
How do I get X on 4.3
Which kernel is best for 4.3
... the list goes on.
There's thread duplication everywhere. It's nice to see a new release but the updates seem quite minor to me, the only update I like is the better battery life. I'm quite happy to stay on 4.2.2 until a stable customisable 4.3 ROM and kernel is available.
Am I the only one in this boat?

I think the main plus of 4.3 has to be the addition of TRIM into android.
This will dramatically increase the longevity of devices.

Trust me, OP, you're not alone. I'm patiently waiting for PA to finish incorporating their 4.3 rom, I can wait for a few days.

i'm waiting for a completely unmodified JSS15J aosp rom

What's the point of this post? To brag about not upgrading? I don't understand, who cares if you are on 4.2 or 4.3 or whatever?

The persistent notification thing is really annoying me, otherwise I'm enjoying it

One of those things, people don't seem to understand that:
- They ought to just be patient and wait for the OTA if they are running stock. It will come.
- With every new release Android there is period of merging, bug fixing, and, of course waiting. Devs overcome the last issue by releasing half-completed ROMs and gradually add more features back in to it with more releases. Often means that you are upgrading in order to have fewer features.
Personally just going to wait until franco.Kernel has all features merged, PA is all complete, and everything is working properly in official releases (eg. the changes for root access). Less hassle, wipe, reinstall, restore, and go back to a phone that was functioning in the same way as it was before.

Touch driver updates are my huge notice. Screen seems much more responsive to me...... That's it though

Update is not worth it, but lots of people were waiting for it, that's why there us so much attention for it, but I'm sticking with my 4.2 rom until they update to 4.3 because 4.3 ROMs right now don't have many customization features

The improvement in battery life on 4.3 is pretty good. I used to be at a point where it wasn't a whole lot better than my galaxy nexus (so I just used my galaxy nexus for the removable battery), but now I don't mind using my N4 as my daily driver.

im thinking of switching back to cm10.1.2 and matr1x kernel. right now you gotta either stick with 4.3 stock or 4.3 custom rom and kernel but get used to the little bug here and there. i'd say not worth it for 4.3 now. yes it's a bit smoother and battery life is a bit better, but for me all the hassles are not worth it at thr moment. glad there are a lot of people stick to 4.3 custom roms and kernels so they can test those out and report bugs to the devs, but for me to use this phone as a daily driver, im thinking going back to my stable 4.2.2 setup with greater battery life because of the stable custom kernel and uv.

Android 4.2

Hey man I am getting confused about 4.2 cuz first I hear it is going to be key lime pie and now I just read over at DROID LIFE about the SAMSUNG NEXUS 10 with picture's of the device running 4.2 saying that it's a modified version of jellybean what gives. It's nice looking though
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
So far their saying 4.2 is still JB....but who knows for sure yet. I just anxious to get it, no matter what's its called!

What gives is Jelly Bean just came out. ICS is still JUST rolling out to handsets. Do you think Google would tick off OEMs by calling a minor software revision Key Lime Pie (thus putting most manufacturers 2 updates behind)?
Or maybe it will be Key Lime Pie. Think maybe we should wait until the event and find out?

Yes they are probably right. As jelly bean is a modified version of ice cream sndwich. Just performance enhancements etc but no drastic changes to the ui.

Yeah that's pretty much what I see as well the article says that some of the enhancements will be done to the camera and short cuts to your settings and of course gmail also wifi but mostly it looks the same but here is to hoping

Maybe they should call it a brand new version "Key Lime Pie", maybe some of these manufacturer's should speed up their processes and get the updates out quicker. Although, half the issue is the carriers need to agree as well. We all see how fast the dev community can do it and these manufacturer's have WAY more resources and direct contact to Google.

The change from 4.2.2 to 4.3 does not present any significant changes.
On top of that, we pretty much only have 1 developer that ports these AOSP bases over to our device. So please be patient.

Not visually, 4.3 is mainly sh*tloads of under the hood changes and one of them (if I'm not mistaken) is that the ui has been given higher priority = smoother ui.
Will post the link in a few minutes, have to dig through my mail and find it.

I like the visual ones best besides 4.2 is already really good. Anything past is really just bragging rights considering the fact that many of my friends are still using Android 2.3.7

Just a question, are you a bit ignorant today? Seems like you don't feel like listening.
It's the stuff behind the ui that makes it smoother, doesn't matter how beautiful the ui is if it lags - right?

4.1.2 Seems faster than 4.3

Just picked up a replacement One and it's on the original version. The thing is it seems snappier than my last phone on 4.3. I'm really debating NOT updating at all and see if 4.3 gets a maintenance update. Anyone agree that 4.1.2 was faster, smoother? opinions?
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
You talking about stock Sense 4.3 or a specific rom?
They both feel the same to me. (I was on 4.1.2 and then switched to AOSP 4.3 and jsut came back to Sense 4.3)
Having had three replacement Ones and many android phones, I guarantee it'll slow down in time. Android always feels faster for the first few days. Call it placebo or maybe the systems data bases aren't populated yet, but 4.3 is just as fast as 4.1, if not more so.
I'm experiencing the opposite. 4.3 features mostly performance updates and most importantly, trim. At least for me personally 4.3 is performing much better
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
How can you even tell with a phone like this...
Lets not forget that 4.3 came with the constant memory deletion feature if I'm correct. Where it's always cleaning up your drive~~

Yeah feels faster for me. No more using that lagfix app to manually trim.
It feels faster to me but with 4.3 I have a host of Bluetooth issues

Stock 4.1.2 Geekbench overall 2796
Stock 4.3 Geekbench overall 2932
Seems faster on 4.3 to me.
Only issue I've had so far on 4.3 is the Bluetooth Audio on phone calls seems to get static when I get more than a few feet away from the phone where as it used to seem to let me get further before I heard static, might just be my headset though, I break those things fairly quickly...

Any news on 4.4?

Hi. I haven't even downloaded 4.3 yet, but I found out that 4.4 is going to have an epic feature: the ability to hide the home-bar and swipe it in when you need it! Finally you're able to use the 5" screen fully in all apps!
Does anyone know when we can expect this update?

We have no idea about 4.4 yet. As you said, 4.3 is not yet been made available in all regions much less 4.4.
We know it's coming, I bet somewhere in the first quarter of 2014 and this all depends on a possible new flagship that Sony will reveal at MWC which may put the Xperia Z to the third tier behind Z1 and the new one.
And that feature sure exists on 4.4 but apps must be programmed to get use of it. I have a Nexus 7 with 4.4 and not many apps support the Immersive Experience yet.
Hope I helped!
Yes!, it is coming!, but i don't know when

Dude, we JUST got 4.3.
One thing to take away from getting 4.2.2, 4.3 is: We never know before the last minute. There is NEVER a release date set months ahead.
We just have to wait.
being enjoying my full 5" screen for a while using LMT Launcher; swype up for back, home, etc.
no need for on screen buttons =]
i want 4.4 because of the new caching system which is noticeably faster.
this 4.3 is great though as usual from sony!

Give it a try to CM or AOSP 4.4.2 you will have a more optimized and faster Android, and you will enjoy the new features.
I recommend you Mokee ROM with Meaw Kernel.

unfortunetley i have the US T mobile Xperia Z with a locked bootloader... had to get this version for the AMAZINGLY FAST 4G LTE

[Q] kitkat worth upgrading

First of all i dont care much about 4.4, i prefer overall performance. So my question is, is it worth upgading considering its improvement and bugs?
There are some nice touches, but the phone is just as fast as before.
IMO for a release it seems rather unstable. Tried it and well, I'd wait for the next release.
I wait... As it seems like Sony have not tested things properly

No, it's not worth.
Am not updating.
need root to sort the sd card issue and i cba with the hassle of flashing ftf, downgrading then upgrading all for an update which adds nothing in terms of features and appears to have plenty more bugs
does the z1 still have its SMS app on KitKat 4.4 or have they switched to Google Hangouts?
if so then thats another reason why i wont be updating.
