[Q] MoDaCo Switch for Sprint HTC One - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Just curious as to if anyone out there is working on implementing MoDaCo Switch into any of their ROMs. As of now it's in public beta, but from what I gather it will only work with GSM devices at the moment. Anyone working on getting that available for Sprint devices?

I'm not entirely certain what version of Android Switch is built against either (i.e. 4.2 or 4.1), which might complicate things further for Sprint.
You just reminded me though that we should batten down the hatches for the nigh inevitable bricks from people who try to flash Switch not knowing it's for GSM only right now.

LTE is a non-issue as this isn't a device sold with LTE support.
The sensors is from flashing the radio/baseband onto 4.2.1 builds. People will have to deal with it, or flash up to 4.2.2
These are not "problems" from Google as they are people causing it to themselves.

From stock software and hardware left in from a sister device. It is not supported by Google and as such is a non-issue.

LTE wasn't approved by the FCC. Therefore, it wasn't mentioned as a feature of the phone.
The reason we could enable LTE was due to an oversight by LG or Google.
This update patches that oversight.
The phone is not suppose to carry LTE in first place. The fact that it works for some people whose carriers are on band 4 is bonus.
And issues, well those come with almost all phones. No point in defending any phone for things like this, but sadly things like this is part of almost any purchase of any thing. Forum like XDA is to get help, so you will get threads here about the problems. You will get far fewer threads which are there to praise the phone on daily basis. If you go to any device section here on XDA, you will get similar threads with issues some of the purchasers face. Those people are here to discuss those. THat sometimes paints the picture that phone is riddled with issues that everyone will face. It is hardly the case.
But if you still want to see enthusiastic threads, go checkout Indian nexus 4 thread That will show you cheerful side of things
Every hardware usually has some weak points, and hardware does break down. With the sheer number of devices sold, there will always be few that break down or are faulty. And you will find large number of those people finding their way here in search of solution. Relax, it is same with almost every phone.

There was a backdoor to get LTE if your provider had LTE on the AWS bands, the N4 was not approved or licensed to be used as an LTE device, it was just a matter of time before Google attempted to disable it. As for the other issues, it's incompatibilities between the new 4.2.2 stuff and 4.2.1 custom ROMs, this is why it's a bad idea to mix and match things like this, they aren't Google issues, all this stuff works just fine on stock 4.2.2 except LTE but that's not supposed to work.
If I understand correctly the radio issues happens only when you flash then on 4.2.1 correct? Then that's your problem, flash the full 4.2.2 and then if it's an issue that's a problem. Anyway I'm on paranoid android 4.2.2 and see no issues.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Oh okay that clears a lot of things up then.
For some reason I thought people were already on 4.2.2 and having the issues didn't know they were still on 4.2.1 trying to flash the radio.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I have a feeling the biggest reason they pushed this 4.2.2 update was to take care of the lte so there wasn't any big lawsuit ...
But then again they really didn't because people can just revert to the baseband before...lol

Wait. So you personally haven't updated and haven't experienced any issues and yet you started a complaint thread?

Become a dev yourself.
Look, the dev scene is just starting out. The phone hasn't even been out a month. Give it some damn time. There is no point in calling a devs work dumb just because it's missing one feature you would like to have. Especially this early in the game. They do this for free, they get nothing out of releasing their work, so you learn to code and add in the features you want, or suck it the **** up, cupcake.

holy **** bro, chill the eff out, i did dig into it and find what I wanted, if you had read deeper down, you'd realize this.
Oh, and if I feel the need to learn the ins and outs of the application side of an os I can easily replace with linux, maybe i will become an android dev, but for now, i'll work on porting ubuntu to this phone,
Is that okay with you?
One more thing, when someone asks 'is this possible' and someone else says 'no' i take that as 'not yet'. I was basically saying 'that's dumb' to his response, not the fact that the app lacks functionality (which i understand will come in time, i develop bro, for posix based systems)

What version of Viper are you on? I don't have the WiFi teather in any of my drop downs on 1.1.0. I only see it in my app drawer. It can grab it and place it in the home screens, but as a widget I done see it in any of the power controls or other multi system function toggle bars.

Knowing Sprint we won't get this update for 6 months after it is officially released internationally. Android handset manufacturers need to take a cue from Apple and tell them that they have no say in updates other than makeing sure they are compatible with the radios on a particular device for their network. If Apple can do it so can they, or does apple hold a patent on that.

My point is that the carriers hold up updates period. Doesn't matter which carrier it is. Sprint may be faster than other carriers I won't deny that, but they still delay them for what ever reason. I am not hating on sprint alone, they are all guilty of it. I realize they need to test the software on their particular network but that doesn't always justify the length of delay. But thanks for playing.

Just a heads up I downloaded the android revolution 4.2.2 that was released in the International ONE forum and it has a sprint folder in it with sprint libs, etc so you guys may want to check it out. It also has t-mobile and at&t folder too so i guess he's for one fully compatible zip. Dev is a beast. Also the zip is about 1 GB...all the separate carrier stuff bumped it up a bit.
Try at your own risk.....
EDIT...I checked out his install script and he got the right partition numbers for flashing on the sprint one.
I wouldn't say the carriers "hold" the updates. Lots of testing is needed to insure a good product on their network.

Keep in mind several factors:
A. HTC might not even push their updates to American carriers until they're done with international versions, due to customizations carriers require here.
B. Different modems and signal bands require additional development and testing time.
C. The testing of a device is actually quite lengthy, because the last thing a carrier (and HTC) wants is some incompatibility causing interference with towers or something. This is why the FCC checks these devices btw.
My friend on T-Mobile is getting the update OTA right now as I type this... c'mon Sprint!

Got working 3G on google edition

Okay guys . After a day of messing around with this Google Edition I finally got fully working data . I was wondering if anyone could tell me the direction to get the roaming indicator off . I'm up loading it to dropbox right not and its taking forever . So if you have suggestions for a different file sharing please let me know.
Did you port this from Verizon's port or the International?

I would love to use the Google version if everything checked out ok. I am not one to tinker with it. But the idea of no bloatware has me almost there... So if anyone figures out how to get it work with no issues that would be great. Where I live we only get 3g so anything above that wont matter to me. Good work btw to you guys who figure this stuff out. Many Thanks :good:

Hardware is almost exactly the same
Also. Kernel has almost nothing to do with cellular connections, it specifies how the software should interact with the hardware and nothing else
The GPE port and 4.2.2 sense 5 ports are both using kernels made for the international version
