My SIM lock menu is appears like this. What does this means, what is the point of locking the sim (Anyway now also i can use any sim)

My phone is brand new phone.I never try to unlock it.
If this means my phone seem is locked how i can unlock it.(I had a problem when i try to unlock my boot loader through flash tool as it says "Your phone boot loader cannot be officially unlocked". where as i have got the official unlock code from Sony web site.
Is this thing will prevent me from installing new ROM (I was keen to install CM Rom when they release a one for SP)
I think you've got to pay someone to unlock your phone/buy an unlock code - after that Sony's code will work.
SIM Lock
Why we have pay more after we buy a brand new phone, If we purchase a phone we should be able to do what ever thing we want to do the phone.
I'm really sorry i cant understand why we should pay more to unlock.
This mean i can not unlock my boot loader or root the phone with unlocking the SIM. Sony is real bull****.I will never go to Sony again.
But it doesn't ask me for a unlock code when we insert a another sim.(I can use what ever sim now also so i feel it is not sim locked)

that sim lock menu shows that the phone is not locked to any network. So its an unlocked sim free phone you have there.
Sim lock and bootloader locked are two different things.
In the service menu, if you go to 'configuration', under 'rooting status: Bootloader unlock allowed:' what does it show? if yes, you can unlock it by heading to http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/

You can root the phone (if a root method exists - not sure if there is one for the SP yet) even if the bootloader unlock is a 'No'.
Yes, it doesnt ask for the unlock code as it is already unlocked from a network or it was sim free.

i have a hardlocked Xperia T, by unlocking the bootloader can i do and SIM unlock??
I dont know what a hardlocked is?
But sim unlocking is different to bootloader unlocking.
Please read the all in one thread (The first thread in the Q&A section) for help on unlocking the bootloader.
I have never seen a way to sim unlock an xperia device on xda, you have to google it and pay for it.

i found a company that can gives me a code to make SIM unlock but since i have all numbers zero-0, they told me that is hardlocked and they
cannot help me with that. That is the reason I'm asking that, if it is the same situation like iphones.
sorry for making silly questions for some people.

Sony gives to every phone some available number of tries to give a code and SIM unlock it. if you put a code and is not succeeded the unlocking
then you lost one chance. if your tries go to zero, then the phone is Hardlocked!!
here is the way you can see that:
With a non-accepted SIM card start up the phone. When the screen says "emergency calls"
1. Start up the phone and press the Menu key ( ) and Back key ( ) as follows:
2. Pressing Key Sequences: Menu Back Back Menu Back Menu Menu Back
Note: Please make sure the phone have SIMLOCK when pressing these keys to get into the Service menu.
OR
Press *#*#7378423#*#* and access the service menu
You will see a menu:
EX:
[ ]Network 10
[ ]Network Subset 10
[ ]Service Provider 10
[ ]Corporate 10

i have a Sony Xperia Z1. the model number is C6906. i bought it directly from Sony and its Unlocked . it was working on every sim card. But i flashed the C6906 firmware of the other branded network provider. now it's network locked with that network provider. it only works with the sim card of that network. when i put any other sim card, the dialog box appears and it tells to insert network unlock code. when i contact that network, they told me to get their sim card and use it for 90 days. then they will provide me the unlock code. why should i have to use their sim card for 90 days to get the unlock code, because my phone is already factory unlocked from sony. i went to 3rd party websites which provide network unlock codes. but they didn't find the unlock code for my phone, because that phone is not present in the database of that network provider. that means i can only get the unlock code from that network code by using their sim card for 90 days. but that network is not working in my area. please suggest how can i make it unlock again as it was before ? i will be very thankful
flashing FTF files will not affect the SIM lock status of a phone.
It will neither lock an unlocked one nor will it unlock a locked one.

i flashed the firmware of Rogers for my unlocked xperia z1 C6906, which was Branded Firmware. my phone was working fine with all sim cards. but few days ago i put the sim card of rogers, the phone automatically restart and also install some rogers network apps in phone menu. after that when i put other sim card, the network unlock code dialogue box appears. it means that phone got locked with rogers now. the rogers technicians said me if you flashed rogers branded firmware, then if you ever put rogers sim card in it, then device will locked to rogers even if its unlocked from sony.
well, not sure how that works as its the first time I ever heard that happening. Not that I don't trust operators but I often find they do not know what they are talking about when it comes to the kind of things we do here at XDA
But, if what you say is true, flashing another FTF will NOT help.

that is not really what we do here. there are loads of websites for that, and rogers say they will give you an unlock code in 90 days anyway.
Soo. my dad bought me an unlocked Sony Xperia SP of Ebay 8 months ago and i just found out that it was locked. I put a Fido Sim card and it seemed to work then i moved to Poland and tried the SIM cards there but none worked. I dialed *#*#7378423#*#* then went to service info then SIM locked then this was there.

Hello,
Has anyone tried this yet? http://developer.sonymobile.com/201...for-a-range-of-unlocked-xperia-devices-video/
It doesn't seem to be working for me!:
Steps taken:
Flashed stock 5.0.2 using Emma
Flashed TA Updated using Emma
Pressed volume down + power until vibration occurs
release power button
result:
Phone shows sony logo and not dead android (stock recovery) and then just reboots
Yes, I'm facing this behaviour too... It seems to be a known problem for some users, as it has also been postet under the original Sony article on deloper world... Hope Sony recognizes the problem soon and fixes the bootloader
Same here. Nothing happen.

Could one of you upload the ftf file so that non stock users can flash without wiping and flashing and all that...? Thank you

Could it be that you have got a sim locked phone? I a not sure but most sim locked phones have got a unlockable bootloader.
There are Z1s with:
Bootloader Unlock Allowed: Yes, and
Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No
It doesn't matter if you are SIM locked or not. SIM locked means you are tied to one specific Carrier and cannot use other Carrier's SIM. If you insert another Carrier's SIM it will not be recognized by the phone. You can have the phone "unlocked" meaning it will allow you so use any Carrier SIM you want to use but that doesn't you you have unlocked your bootloader.
If your phone says [Bootloader Unlock Allowed: Yes], you can unlock it using Flashtool or go to Sony's website.
If your phone says [Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No], sorry mate - you don't have any way of unlocking your bootloader.

That's the reality.
As already said only phones with 'bootloader unlock Allowed: yes' can be unlocked.
If this is my phone I would be interested in knowing why my bootloader isn't unlockable and I would write to Sony.

None that I know of personally. I did a Google search - I found a youtube video but I doubt it's credibility. But I am not an Advanced Developer or anything like that. I'm just another guy with an Android phone. And from what I've read so far, if your phone says [Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No] that means:
"No.",
"Sorry but No!",
"Nooooo-Waaaayyy",
"uh-uh!", "Sorry, nope!",
"No can do.", "Nada!",
"Let me thing about it.... I say... No!"
"Hmmm.... nah!"
If your phone was purchased as a 2nd hand phone, the original owner must have purchased it as a SIM-locked phone and have later had it Open-lined so he/she can use any Carrier SIM he/she wants. But as I have mentioned before; which almost everybody gets confused about; if you have had your phone Open-lined it doesn't mean you have unlocked the bootloader as well.
Hello,
probably often asked: I had some history of flashing my Z1c to unlock the boatloader for root access in order to enable tibetan fonts. Finally I did not succeed to get root. Now I updated to Android 5.1.1. via Sony Emma. (the normal update via pc companion was not possible because the bootloader is open now)
As a last step I wanted to unlock the sim to change my net provider but now I think the sim is hardlocked.
I don't know why it is hardlocked now - i never tried to unlock the sim until now. Could it be that by flashing it I caused the hardlock. I slightly remember that before starting to unlock the boatloader the simlock was only softlocked.
Is it still possible to unlock sim and how?
The SIM Lock Service menu says:
[x] Network 0
[ ] Network subset 0
[ ] Service Provider 0
[ ] Corporate 0
[ ] SIM 0
Thx for help asap, I don't want to be forced buying a new mobile again..
Bootloader unlocking is not the same as SIM Carrier Unlocking. Phones that are SIM locked are phones tied with a certain Carrier, ex. Verizon. You can unlock you BL provided that you have an unlockable BL but that doesn't mean you have unlocked or "open-lined" you phone. I do not have a login for EMMA but since SIM locking is done by Carriers I don't think EMMA has an option for unlocking the SIM. Most of the unlocking I've seen is by obtaining an unlock code.

thx but that was not the question.
I know the unlocking the bootloader is a different story than unlocking the sim.
The bootloader issue is done!
I wanted to unlock the sim via code per internet - there are a lot of sites for that - you send them IMEI, pay something like 30€ and you will receive an unlock code.
But I have read that this is only possible if the sim is not hardlocked.
When looking at the service menu I understand that the sim is hardlocked - therefore no unlock code will work.
But I am not sure if this is truely the case and what to do if it is really hardlocked.
thx wolfgang
Open Dialer and dial *#*#SERVICE#*#* (*#*#7378423#*#*). Select "SIM lock". On the screen will be several rows with names like "Network", "Corporate", "SIM", etc. and each ending with a number. If any of the numbers are greater than 0, you have a SIM lock.
@wopro because you have an X marked for network, I believe you are SIM locked.

Well, you did state that your phone showed you [X] Network [0] - which meant you have used all 5 (usually it is always 5 attempts) attempts to unlock the Carrier SIM. What are the options? I guess go to the Carrier's Service center play dumb and say your Contract is done and want to open-line the phone but you where given Zero (0) chances???

I don't think this is true. I have unlocked my phone, got it right on the first attempt, and have never had any issues. All of my unlock lines are 0, and nothing is X'd.
please read this issue carefully
i wrote that i never tried to unlock the sim, so i never tried to type in an unlock code.
therefore how could i have used 5 attempts?
the only thing i did, was unlocking the bootloader, but that has nothing to do with the sim lock!
I hope that the phone carrier is going to unlock the mobile, although i don't know how they are going to do this...
best regard, wolfgang

Yes, that is right. Once the phone is open-lined, the [X] & number flanking the word Network will disappear and shows it like this: - even though you only entered the unlock code once out of 5 attempts it will show Zero(0) once successfully unlocked.

Yes, you didn't say you attempted. I was just going by how the SIM lock page usually does, or tells about the phone. Hhmmm... just a though. Have you tried to re-lock the BL and re-installed stock ROM?
