Has anyone found a way to remove the red "This build is for development purposes only..." message that pops up at the bottom of the HBOOT splash screen? I am revone S-OFF and have successfully flashed custom splash screens. Now, I just want that annoying red warning message to go away.
PLEASE forgive me if this was already posted. I did search via xda and Google, but found no answer. The closest I found was a method in the unbranded One section, but I don't just go and flash crap from other device threads. If the above-mentioned question has already been covered, please direct me to the appropriate thread, and better yet, suggest a way that I can make better use of the search function.

If you go to the themes part if this forum look for SPLASH SCREEN THREAD. They have a stock splash screen w/o that annoying warning. You will have to use adb if my memory serves me correctly.

That was the thread a used to learn how to flash splash screens. I flashed a custom one of a pinup girl with the htc logo, and the warning still pops up over her. The only time I deviated from the instructions was I went into bootloader/fastboot by using power+volume down, instead of adb reboot bootloader... I doubt that makes any difference, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

The easiest way ( for me at least) to flash a boot.IMG (kernel) is with Flashimagegui. It's available in the market.......ahem, google play for a buck. Or the creator of the SW has a dl link in his thread for free.

Go into HBOOT (if you don't know how, go look for it! Not handholding you all the way through this), and re-unlock your bootloader. It should boot back into whatever custom ROM you had before.
If you weren't on a custom ROM, download the ICS RUU (or an old GB one) and pray that it works.
If it doesn't work, congratulations, you're the proud owner of a brick! Learn your lesson, and READ next time!

For future reference, its not a brick if you can still power on. If you can get it even to power on, most of the time you can fix it. If you do something and it wont power on, youre done. Soft Brick v. Hard Brick.
Thanks for the info!

Reflash the recovery again and if nothing works, use the AIO-Kit (one of the first threads here)
But, this should be posted in the TWRP thread or Q/A section.

1. Download AIO toolkit from here
2. Run it. Inside it, first press "I" to install NVFlash drivers if not already installed
3. Select option 2, change recovery with nvflash.
4. Select your preferred recovery (CWM5, CWM6, TWRP), select the bootloader you are on
(if at start of phone boot, LG logo is black and white=>gb bootloader, LG logo is colored=>ics bootloader),
follow the instructions on the screen
Done!

Hi,
So I just got my HTC One and I'm loving it. Can't wait to make ROMS for it (in progress). So following the tutorial on the forum and I'm very familiar with it I rooted the phone. However as soon as I installed CWM my Hboot said tampered. Curious I decided to see if I could flash anything and well it worked fine. However after flashing SuperUser I had got these weird messages on the splash screen and when entering recovery like HTC Development Device and these wacked up messages.
I ignored them and I installed TricknDroid ROM and it's working perfectly. Any ideas on how to remove the messages and the tampered thing in Hboot. Is that similar to what happened to others?
Thanks
Weeo

How did u do that? Do you still have your Rom? Or a guid or something like that?
In a quest for a customizable ROM that was built upon ICS, I came across Elegancia's Pegasus, and I thought I would give it a try. To my horror, the ROM was incredibly UGLY (no offense) and I decided to reboot into recovery. As I did, the recovery page launched for about a split second before hitting the white HTC Screen of Death. So, I rebooted it, and now I'm stuck in an Elegancia bootloop that won't end.
And so my predicament: I can't recover, nor can I boot. What to do from here? Through the piece of garbage away?
nvm this
Schoutse said:
You can still boot into bootloader right?
You need to relock bootloader and run an RUU.
To do so boot into bootloader (volume down + power button), then choose fastboot and connect it with the cable to your computer.
On your computer run the fastboot.exe and type the command "fastboot oem lock" without the quotations.
Then find an RUU here:
Holiday RUU's
and choose one of your carrier.
Run the .exe and when its finished you have the stock rom again.
If you want to get a custom rom do all the steps for flashing roms again and unlock bootloader again.
I think this is how it works.
Edit: you will lose your data..

No need to do all that... Fastboot erase cache will fix the issue. Then re-flash your recovery and you are set.

Although I enjoy most of what the HTC First has to offer, I think I would like to return it. So, I was wondering if anyone could instruct me on how to flash back to stock and if there was a way, remove the "Tampered" message in the bootloader?

Is there any way you could help me understand why Moonshine isn't working for me? I'm on 1.08, unlocked bootloader, rooted, and I have CWM (not sure if the custom recovery matters). I plug it in with the OEM Cable and USB Debugging on as instructed. However, when I run Moonshine, it goes as far as Test 3 and then it starts running through several rows of dots.
Edit: Scratch that. I figured out that all I needed to do was turn off my Firewall. So, now that I have S-Off, how do I go about flashing it back to the Stock ROM/Recovery?

Since you have s-off I don't know why you want a stock ROM/recovery. Either the v1.08 or v1.04 zips will install with CWM (not TRWP last I tried). http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=Myst
