Anyway to increase the sound when using headphones, without rooting or modding my phone? They seem to be really quiet even when cranked up to the full.

Without those things, nope.
I find it hurting loud on headphones though when volume is on max.

So is it possible with rooting or modding?
Maybe I'm just going deaf!
Even without rooted or modded, my headphone is still loud enough.

I've heard they're not that good but I think they're great. They have lots of bass.
I've compared them with ridiculously priced ones from HMV (which do bounce about on your head a bit) but they have some bass on them.

Your question?
I like them too, i tried to get a replacement pair from sony chat services and they were very reluctant, they really wanted me to buy some livesound headphones from them for £79 but i got them from play.com, they are very good (bass heavy)
They are utter crap if you ask me. Sure they have some bass. But bass is far from everyting. Where's the treble? It's pretty much non existant. The difference is so huge with better earphones. Why be happy with the Sony ones when you can get other ones with better bass and much much better treble.

I use a pair of Audio Technica M50 earphones and the sound is amazing. Sure they are bulky but I don't care =D
they sound good on the xperia play only any other device and they wont play any good sound best headphones ever are bluetooth rocketfish for 57 bucks
I still think they're OK.
Short of paying tens, if not hundreds, of pounds.
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk
I removed the filters and they are loud as.
The volume is weaker when compared to my other ear phones. Sound quality wise, it's just ok (I'm not an audiophile).
I was just thinking today how good the stock headphones are. What are people expecting from stock supplied headphones?
Just looked at the MW600 and that does look sweet.
I just realised that I could plug in normal headphones without a microphone and still make and receive calls using the phones Mic
The stock ear cans do have decent bass, the problem is everything else is really really muddy and the bass is just booming there isn't much definition.
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk
i use my sennhieser hd202 for music and a bluetooth for calls
the stock are ok but i do love my music nice and crisp
If the stock earphones aren't that good then I'd love to try some other ones.
If there's one thing I've noticed about them it's that sticking them up your nostrils then yawning, it doesn't make it sound as though the sound is coming from inside your head as much as others I've tried.

Im impressed.
OP, if you mean the FM radio app, you need to use headphones as the headphone wire acts as the antenna. If you just mean music you have on your phone, try poweramp, it is a pay app, but it has a 2 week free trial. Has an excellent equalizer in it that will boost the volume.
If you are looking to listen to FM radio, and have a certain station in mind, see if they have an app that you can stream them on, check out their web site
Hope that answers your questions

It's impossible to stop working when you update from 4.1.2(not 4.2.1) to 4.2.2. Its hardware not software. This earpods wont work on both versions because its hardware not software like I said before.
I'm gono root my xz to check it..I'll get back and report after checkin cos I remember using earpods once in 4.2.1.I'll report it soon

They don't work. Apple htc samsung LG all use a different way on how to use the microphone and call end or music skip buttons on headphones. They most of the time only work on the same manufacturer devices. Only non specific headphone work on every device. But as soon as they are htc samsung sony and stuff that come with hands free and call end button or other stuff the most of the time don't work on other manufacturer phones. Like my beats from htc only work on htc and on LG but not on sony Samsung for example.

I have a pair of Sennheiser Momentum, they have a remote/mic rated only for iPhone. They work on the Z, except for the volume controls.
Yeah they work, but you have to force the output source to be the headphone jack. In order to do that all you need is an app like Sound About.

IPhone 5 earpods work fine for me. The only thing is, you have to press the Mic button after you've plugged them in to get audio out of the earpods. If not, you'll just get sound from the phone's speaker. Aside from that, they work perfectly and give great sound.

Imho they (apple earbuds) sound ugly.
Xperia T came bundled with some of the best earphones for being a free goodie. The MH1C. Xperia Z's EX300 are better that Apple attemps, but not as good as the MH1C.

No bashing here but I think if u put on cheap 5 dollar headphone apple on it ppl would think they are the best just because apple is on it. It worked for Apple and i can tell u a lot of the stuff is overpriced cheap stuff. It is a fact. To high priced and it a lot of cases u can get better stuff for way way cheaper. Anyway but if he likes the apple headphones. So be it. It is everyone's own free choice.

I use the Earpods on my XZ. The worked on stock 4.1.2 and 4.2.2 and they still work fine on CM 10.1.2 (4.2.2) and on the 4.3 GE. Just like you said you have to press the mic button once after inserting them.
hi guys can any one help me how to increase the speaker volume in z1 to get loud sound like htc one
The volume only goes so high. Just because one phone is loud doesn't mean that you can make any phone loud. The Z1's speakers are muted somewhat by the waterproofing.

You can try the PureXAudio v2 mod
It makes the sound a little bit louder~
But there is a bug~
If you use this mod.
The docking notification sound will disapear~ (when you charge with docking station)
Is it possible that the internal TF701 speaker is broken?
Once I set 60% volume, the speaker rattles and distorted sounds.
How can I test it? Ev. a CM11 problem?
I am not aware of when deterioration has occurred.

My best guess is that it has come a bit loose and the vibration from high volume levels makes it rattle

Now install stock firmware and have the same issue. All tones with higher volume have distortion.
