please tell me you installed xrecovery. if so then boot into xrecovery and restore a backup
option 2use pc companion to restore.
hi, i had x recovery installed on my x8 which was rooted, i had upgraded to froyo bread but was having issues with the camera, so i dowloaded a new rom, and tried xrecover to install the new rom. but kept getting md5 checksum errors.
i have just downloaded flashtools to try and re write the firmwear, but it wont see my phone.
its stuck at the sony erricson boot screen, and the flash tool is reporting the phone has usb de bugging turned off, so i guess it wont let me re flash the firmwear
ok. got pc companion trying to update the phone, fingers crossed
I think this might help you...
can you boot into recovery again??

cant thank you guys enough.
i was actually trying to change my os when this happened. from froyo to gingerbread. the version i downloaded used md7?? (i am new to all this and dont fully understand) but my phone was looking for md5, something like that.
got the fun job of rooting it again now lol.
what is the best android version for the x8 that still alows for the use of the camera?

Flashtool?
- Grab it, enable USB-Debugging on your phone, connect it to the computer.
- Press "Ask root perm" and keep an eye at your phone - you need to confirm a superuser request.
*Achievement unlocked*
- Press the now unlocked "xRecovery" button to inject xRecovery
And remember that you can also root your phone from Flashtool.
PC Companion... Update Service... Hah!... Useless crap since we got Flashtool... Sony Ericsson doesn't release any more updates for the X8 anyway, so it's kinda useless as the Android drivers can be installed manually without the need to install PCC or SEUS.
EDIT: SOLVED THANKS TO damir87
Ok guys, after a lot of research and messing up I ended up needing to ask for help.
I started trying to install cyanogen mod 9 (Android 4.0.3) where everything was going fine, but when I flashed the kernel with the "Custom Gingerbread kernel nAa-11" and installed the cyanogen 9 ROM with xRecovery, but when I started the phone (And it's still like this ATM) after the Sony Ericson logo, it appears the XPERIA logo with the lighting animation, it does the animation about 3 - 4 times and freezes after that and stays there, sometimes it does the animation 3 times, disappears and appears the logo again and then freezes.
I realized this happened because I didn't unlock bootloader. I can actually check the bootloader and I get the message that says it's locked but you can unlock it but to unlock it I have to have it turned on with USB debugging on.
Also, sometimes when I try to flash it again, after connecting it and the green light turning on it says I have plugged the device in flash mode, then it says I unplugged it and tells me that an error occurred, then the phone boots up by it-self.
BTW I'm a bit newbie in the section of "flashing" and the kernel and the baseband stuff, I'm not sure if with flashing, you flash the kernel, the baseband, or the ROM it-self, or even if you can install a ROM with the flashtool with the phone on flashmode.
BTW I can't access xRecovery.
- SEUS Says my phone is already up to date and all I can do is click finish.
- PCC Says there's not software available for my phone.
WHAT WOULD BE PERFECT TO FIX THIS:
A way to change the ROM to the android 2.1.1.C.0.0 without booting the phone(in flash mode).
HOW I SOLVED IT
-I simply downloaded this stock ROM (2.1.1.C.0.0): http://www.mediafire.com/?eca0sualnao4c4c
-Then just used flashtool V0.2.9.1 (I think it's important that you use that exact version): https://rapidshare.com/#!download|5...|62602|R~5490459C5764641D4665C046409A620A|0|0
(Sorry for rapid**** host, couldn't get any better)
After that it took the phone about 5~ mins to start up after the 2nd SE logo.
Again thanks to damir87!
I was newbie too , but reading threads helped , use SEUS Sony PC Companion to restore to stock.

Thanks for the reply, but Sony PC Companion needs the phone to be ON and on debug mode, actually I can't fully boot the phone and SEUS gets stuck on "checking connection to the phone" or something like that.
Also PCC says there's no available updates for the phone. <.<
Turn off phone , then do what seus asks

the SEUS says my phone is already up to date.
When i used seus i had right down a button option to reflash.

Even I HATE rapidshare, hotfile, depositfile, share and uploading, I'll trust you and hope it works .
With this you say it'll do everything?
Even the rooting while on flashmode? and instal xRecovery?
Remember I can't access the phone.
BRB In 3 hours with the ****ty 30kb/s, gonna practice shuffle.
This file is stock 2.1 for x8 so when you flash this your phone will not be rooted and will not have recovery installed, thats you gonna do after flashing stock rom! btw B.Jay is write nice and detailed tutorial so you can follow these steps to make your phone work!

Oh, ok great, and when flashing this it will install the default ROM and remove the android 4.0.3 ROM right?
EDIT: I already did that tutorial, when I tried to flash the phone with the 2.1.1.C.0.0, it gave me an error saying it can't prepare the files for the flashing, any idea?

Did you try PC Companion to repair the phone?
If so... do you know how to do that? I'm saying this because I bricked my phone once and I didn't knew hot to use th "repair" option. Only after a big search I found a step by step tutorial on how to do that...
hi
clearly this wasn't as simple as the unrevoked method for my last phone,
I ran the script 'root many phone' and it cracked on whilst moaning about permissions and by the time it had finished the phone restarted a bit broken.
It had not play store, none of the previous apps on, wasn't actually rooted at all.
I managed to get play back on there but installing via adb.exe from the command line, and its almost like when I install something, that was on there before, it still has all the settings, so not quite sure what has gone on.
can anyone offer some advice, is it simplest to somehow get myself back to stock and start agin.
maybe I didnt run the root script from the right place. - phone was on and plugged in , usb debugging enabled.
any help much appreicated
I don't know of starting fresh is the 'best' option, but if you haven't done anything that you can't miss our can't do again it's never a wrong try.
Some people also reported that you need allow test locations on. And allow installation of external apps must also be set.
You can always try re rooting without reinstalling.
If you want to reinstall you're best of using Sony update service. Googling is fastest way to find it (not Sony pc companion)
Good luck,

hi
yes that was what I tried
do I need anything more than that script? (eg those ftf files i keep reading about?)
does the phone need to be on, or in the volume down on boot state
it appears I need 'test locations' and 'external apps' set
anything else I need?
i will try again today at some point
thanks
sure I am being a spanner, but I cant even find the test locations or external apps setting anywhere?
where might that be?
unless test locations is 'mock locations' (guess so)
stilll not finding the external apps option, thought it would be in apps setting somewhere..?
ok found that too in security > unknown sources.
ignore me
That root script didn't work for me either; it kept asking me to connect my device with USB-debugging enabled even though I had already done that.
I would suggest getting back to stock and trying again, BUT use FlashTool instead. It worked perfectly for me in mere seconds.

I downloaded version 0.9.0.0 version, but no XperiaT in the list when I plug it in..
which phone did you pick?
presume the steps are
1. download flashtool
2. Install it on your PC
3. Run the Flashtool and connect your phone (enable USB debugging first)
4. Hit the Root button (second in row)
5. When you see "waiting for restore to finish" open your phone and run Backup&Restore app and restore RootMe.tar file.
6. Wait until Flashtool do the rest of work
thanks

If you mean in the adb drivers list, select Xperia TX. That was the only time I had to select a device.
OK finally success
although using the initial method.
maybe the problem was created by reading the 'root many phones' thread and where it says there is a special case for Xperia T/S etc I took that to mean when running the tool, to pick option '2) special case Xperia S tablet etc' - which didn't work
ran it again picked option '1) Normal' which did work
thanks for all your help
nat
Not necessarily relevant to the OP's problem but I thought I'd share in case it helps anyone else out...
When I tried rooting using Bin4ry's method I kept getting a adb server out of date error and the root failed.
I eventually traced this to having DROID explorer installed which was forcing an old version of adb to be running and stopped the newer version from starting up.
Once I uninstalled the old version I was able to runMe and root the phone.
This has probably been asked many times before but ive rooted my xperia t and want to unlock the bootloader so I can install pacman rom, however when i hold the volume up and plug in the usb cable, the blue light stays on for around 5 seconds and then goes into charging mode, many people say to wait for it to show up in the device manager and install it manually which i keep trying to do but so far no luck so is there anyone who would gladly show me a noobs way of doing it as im following this guide at the moment.

you have to boot into safe mode and install the drivers that way.
It may not be called safe mode in win 8, but its something like that
RE: Xperia T wont stay in fastboot mode?
I have the same problem has anyone figured it out yet i cant do it in safe mode
had the same issue, but with me the problem was w8, if you are on window 8 you need to disable driver verification or something like that, i recomend, doing it on a windows 7 pc
I have windows 7 but did not work, can using a laptop affect the driver installation?
No, I use a win 7 laptop

Use Sony pc companion.
Follow the steps in the repair section. That should fix it.... You prolly flashed via flashtool without enabling unknown sources and maybe without USB debugging.

Had the same problem, repair with PC Companion worjed for me. As I remember I went to Software Updates and somewhere there is a link to 'Repair your Phone'. As I'm not at home, I can't look after the exact steps, but should be easy to find (or search after 'PC Companion repair phone' ). After this simply follow the steps shown by PC Companion.
huh guys, thanks. It works, everything i need to do was choose repair option with unpluged phone. Thanks for help

This has happened to me a few times. I've had a couple of failed flashes. Just reflash and it's usually ok. I think the Sony drivers are a little flaky.
Hi ,
I am trying to give your answer and you should search into the net .
Hi,
I am a new member here Thats why same condition to me.so i will try my level best to get answer.
If you're using the firmwares from this link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z4/general/ftf-stock-rom-e6553-sov31-402so-03g-t3136161) then you use should the version of flashtool in that Google Drive folder (0.9.18.6). Using the newer 0.9.19.1 gave me the same stuck on modem.sin problems.
