Use Sony pc companion.
Follow the steps in the repair section. That should fix it.... You prolly flashed via flashtool without enabling unknown sources and maybe without USB debugging.

When I plug the phone by usb. It starts in flashmode, but my PC Companion don't see phone. What should I do?

Had the same problem, repair with PC Companion worjed for me. As I remember I went to Software Updates and somewhere there is a link to 'Repair your Phone'. As I'm not at home, I can't look after the exact steps, but should be easy to find (or search after 'PC Companion repair phone' ). After this simply follow the steps shown by PC Companion.

huh guys, thanks. It works, everything i need to do was choose repair option with unpluged phone. Thanks for help

This has happened to me a few times. I've had a couple of failed flashes. Just reflash and it's usually ok. I think the Sony drivers are a little flaky.

Hi ,
I am trying to give your answer and you should search into the net .

Hi,
I am a new member here Thats why same condition to me.so i will try my level best to get answer.

If you're using the firmwares from this link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z4/general/ftf-stock-rom-e6553-sov31-402so-03g-t3136161) then you use should the version of flashtool in that Google Drive folder (0.9.18.6). Using the newer 0.9.19.1 gave me the same stuck on modem.sin problems.

[Q] [HELP] [SOLVED & HOW TO] Xperia X8 Seriously "Bricked"

EDIT: SOLVED THANKS TO damir87
Ok guys, after a lot of research and messing up I ended up needing to ask for help.
I started trying to install cyanogen mod 9 (Android 4.0.3) where everything was going fine, but when I flashed the kernel with the "Custom Gingerbread kernel nAa-11" and installed the cyanogen 9 ROM with xRecovery, but when I started the phone (And it's still like this ATM) after the Sony Ericson logo, it appears the XPERIA logo with the lighting animation, it does the animation about 3 - 4 times and freezes after that and stays there, sometimes it does the animation 3 times, disappears and appears the logo again and then freezes.
I realized this happened because I didn't unlock bootloader. I can actually check the bootloader and I get the message that says it's locked but you can unlock it but to unlock it I have to have it turned on with USB debugging on.
Also, sometimes when I try to flash it again, after connecting it and the green light turning on it says I have plugged the device in flash mode, then it says I unplugged it and tells me that an error occurred, then the phone boots up by it-self.
BTW I'm a bit newbie in the section of "flashing" and the kernel and the baseband stuff, I'm not sure if with flashing, you flash the kernel, the baseband, or the ROM it-self, or even if you can install a ROM with the flashtool with the phone on flashmode.
BTW I can't access xRecovery.
- SEUS Says my phone is already up to date and all I can do is click finish.
- PCC Says there's not software available for my phone.
WHAT WOULD BE PERFECT TO FIX THIS:
A way to change the ROM to the android 2.1.1.C.0.0 without booting the phone(in flash mode).
HOW I SOLVED IT
-I simply downloaded this stock ROM (2.1.1.C.0.0): http://www.mediafire.com/?eca0sualnao4c4c
-Then just used flashtool V0.2.9.1 (I think it's important that you use that exact version): https://rapidshare.com/#!download|5...|62602|R~5490459C5764641D4665C046409A620A|0|0
(Sorry for rapid**** host, couldn't get any better)
After that it took the phone about 5~ mins to start up after the 2nd SE logo.
Again thanks to damir87!
I was newbie too , but reading threads helped , use SEUS Sony PC Companion to restore to stock.

Thanks for the reply, but Sony PC Companion needs the phone to be ON and on debug mode, actually I can't fully boot the phone and SEUS gets stuck on "checking connection to the phone" or something like that.
Also PCC says there's no available updates for the phone. <.<
Turn off phone , then do what seus asks

Even I HATE rapidshare, hotfile, depositfile, share and uploading, I'll trust you and hope it works .
With this you say it'll do everything?
Even the rooting while on flashmode? and instal xRecovery?
Remember I can't access the phone.

This file is stock 2.1 for x8 so when you flash this your phone will not be rooted and will not have recovery installed, thats you gonna do after flashing stock rom! btw B.Jay is write nice and detailed tutorial so you can follow these steps to make your phone work!

[Q] X8 Update 1.6 to 2.1 Boot-loop

I have read a couple of threads regarding 'boot-loop' but I was never successful in finding a similar problem like mine.
Whenever I update my X8 from 1.6 to 2.1, my device goes to boot-loop. It loads till I get to the main screen, then freezes, then reboots again. It goes on until the battery dies.
I used flashtool, PCC, SEUS, but to no avail, the same issue persists. Does anyone know any other way to update my phone, or fix this issue? Am I stuck to the stock ROM 1.6?

When I update using PC Companion (PCC) or Update Service (SEUS/US), the update successfully applies but when I turn on the phone, it loads a bit to the main screen, freezes, then goes to a boot-loop.
The same goes when I flash the stock ROM using flashtool, the same problem persists.

From your original post , I could gather that you tried fixing with PCC/SEUS/Flashtool. But did you try to update with both PCC and SEUS ?
Did you follow the instructions carefully when updating , like when and how long to hold the back button of your X8 while updating. When to connect you X8 to the computer etc

Repairing and updating with PCC/SUES is basically the same thing. It just skips the part where the phone has to be on and mounted.
And if he didn't didn't hold the button long enough or something the process wouldn't even start.
I think the X8 is just dodgy and the best bet would be to take it to a service center.
Sent from my E15i using xda premium
Maybe Wotan would work but that costs money AFAIK.
This is actually quite a peculiar situation. I'm not sure if anybody has ever come across this before.
Its strange because FlashTool works literally 100% of the time.
Your best bet ATM would be to visit a service center or Contact Sony Online.
Best of luck

Yes sir, this is one peculiar X8. I don't know if it's a software problem.
Anyways, thanks a bunch to all those who helped! Much appreciated.

Hey I will tell you what to do.
First of all install Sony Ericsson Update Service or SEUS. Just Google it and you can find it easily!
Now connect your phone to your computer via USB cable.
Start SEUS.
Then follow the on-screen instructions.(You will be asked to select your phone model, update or repair your phone etc)But its easy!!!!!
Then leave the rest to SEUS.
It will first repair your phone, then download the stock rom and kernel and also the baseband and will automatically install them.
After that you will have your X8 on stock rom,it will be updated to the latest baseband and kernel.
Hope it works for you.

For my case, it will bootup with 1.6 stock rom, the baseband will be stated unknown, but it still can call and receive SMS...
Any rom that is above 2.1 won't be able to boot, that include stock 2.1 and any custom rom...
It only can be repaired by SE i think (or maybe JTAG )...
So in the end i gave up the phone and sold it at a cheap price to a friend and he took it to SE for repair, the phone comes back with stock 2.1 ROM
but the camera and vol button are not working, most probably damaged by the repair guy in SE...
Btw, any one knows what causes the baseband to gone like that?

If it is just a softbrick you can easily repair it (don't worry, it's really simple). Open Sony PC Companion, Power off the phone, on Pc Companion go to "update phone/tablet" (sorry, don't have it installed in english, so it may differ). There should be an option to repair the phone. 1. Be sure you have 50% battery life.
2. Turn off phone.
3. Download Sony Ericson Update Service program.
4. Install it.
5.Start Program and search for reinstall phone.
6. Choose your device from list.
7. Follow instructions.
Your phone will again work perfect with Stock rom! (Without root!)
Good Luck

"any ideas what to do?"
Say: Bye Bye SP...and put it on Trash.....If Update Service program dont see your phone when connect it to pc than phone is broken forever.

Did you install Xperia SP specific driver? I assumed you already did, coz you wrote about rooting procedure, but if you didn't, install it the same way you did flashmode and fastboot drivers. Look for "Viskan" in drivers list. After that, try Flashtool again and flash the whole firmware, not just kernel.
we have the same problem may be we should make a UNBRICK thread for xperia sp.
you can use zeus driver to replace qhsusb dload driver
download s1tool from the_laser setool
can someone give us link for a flashfile for xperia sp in semc package? not ftf file
the_laser said that
this is msm8960-based phone and s1tool only support apq8064- and msm8974-based phones.

@eagleeyetom according to @laufersteppenwolf you hard bricked your xperia sp once, was it this issue and did you manage to fix it?

Yes, I wiped the bootloader, but it was fixed in the service and they gave me a new one saying that they can't fix it. It was free of charge of course
What's the status? Does the green or blue LED show up? Or no LEDs at all?

No signs of life whatsoever, I bought mine second hand but it has a warranty so gonna pursue that, is it impossible to fix without service centre?

Crap, it looks like it's dead. If you haven't mess up with screws they should fix it. In the worst scenario they have to inform you about costs and ask whether you want them to fix it.
JTAG can be used as well, but it's not cheap.

Not really. If it's dead the first guess will be motherboard. And they will replace it with an internal memory. So FXP or not, they should fix it.
