Captivate battery life - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Friends,
Some problem seems with Captivate.Battery life is too low. On full charge it hardly passes 20 hours in idle mode i.e. without using once. I have tried different Jelly bean ROM's but result is almost same. Battery is brand new and that is too 1650 mAh one. What could be the reason, please suggest how to get rid of this problem. One my friends who has captivate running the CM 10.1 same ROM can go for 2-3 days in idle mode.
Thanks in advance

U could install the app BetterBatteryStats and let it run for a good while and see what is shows as using the majority of ur battery...

Thanks friend, I installed this software. Its reporting 2.5% battery used per hour Phone is in airplane mode and I did not touch it once. Most battery used by "deep sleep".

What battery? Some Chinese batteries claiming to be 1650mAh have real capacity of less than 1000mAh.

Na buddy bought it from Samsung S/C, its genuine 100%. No doubt about that.

Same result on different ROMs sounds like some hardware issue.

And with this battery you charge every day?
My original resist all day.
You should use original battery, you can buy 2 batteries. And can use dock charge.
I don't really know

I don't really know if it's a really good option to have 2 batt coz' its always the problem on the correct display of the energy and the batery
doesn't it?
It can show wrong the information changing the battery usually!
and you don't really want to calibrate them usually?
I'm right?
Anyone know where I can buy a legit high capacity battery?
ace has a bad battery, so its an option.. I don't know its a guess if it works though..

Incredible S unknown battery?

Hey guys, I just bought and tried out an unknown 1800mAh battery for my Incredible S.
I charged it to full overnight, and today I used it for 5 hours mostly playing modern war, for maybe about 3-3.5hours, and then it went dead. Does that sound right for an 1800mAh battery or even the stock IncS one?
I also just found out today that these companies overrate theie battery capacities by 20-40%, so this 1800mAh battery would be around a 1080-1440mAh battery right? Would the above scenario be consistent with a 1080mAh battery?

the stock is 1450mAh.
going by antutu tester's battery test, my seido 1750mAh has about 30% more capacity than my worn stock battery, so if my stock has lost 10% of its capacity over the year or so since it was purchased, it's exactly as advertized.
I'd say try running said tester on it. you'll need to not use your phone at all for about 4 or so hours while it runs.
my stock battery gave me a score of 426 and my seido got 553.
I've had a problem with batteries that when i would put in a larger battery the phone would not recognize it. The battery would act different one day it would run for 4 hours the next day it would run for 10 and wiping battery stats didnt help at all. so i just went back the original battery.

Battery is dead.

After having the Ace for more than a year, I can officially say that the battery died.
I charge it for a night, and its on 20% after 8 hours of almost no use.
Is there anything I can do, except replacing it?

Why would you even bother trying to fix it?
You can buy a replacement battery on ebay for $3.88 including delivery.
You can even get an external charger to charge the spare battery outside of the phone for $2

Yes, it was my attempt at humor but apparently it was lost on you
It seems his battery is no longer able to hold a charge... this generally happens towards the end of the battery life-cycle.
There are ways you can try and rejuvenate it but the small cost of a new one on ebay makes this exercise pointless.

Nothing serious really...! XDA itself is a funny place ! So humour always keeps up ! Actually if your android system isn't clean enough, it results in battery loss. At least his lasts 8 hrs., mine went from 100 to 0 in less than 2 hrs. And believe me, its already months past now & I still use the same battery which lasts over a day !

[Q] Is this battery trashed?

Hey guys. I was wondering if this is reasonable battery life for the Mini?
NB:
- when WiFi wasn't enabled, i had 3G on all the time, except the straight section - that was overnight
- my screen brightness stays at about 65% all the time, except for the no-wifi screen time before the straight section - that was minimum brightness
- powersave is activated
- some of the screen time was games - notably I played GTA VC for 30 minutes without powersave
I need to know if it is decent because I am able to return the phone until the end of the month if the battery is damaged. Thanks.
Yes that seems ok.

HTC Doubleshot (MyTouch 4G Slide) stock battery, full charge: Dead after just four hours.
Samsung I8190 (Galaxy S3 Mini) stock battery full charge: 21% after 12 hours.
How's that for an example?

Speaking of batteries, is my Mini the only one with an odd discharge habit? It seems to go down a few percents between sleep and wake, then stay on a certain level for longer. Repeatedly.

Try training the battery (let it go down to 2%, fully charge it, repeat one or two more times) and see if that clears it up.

I did that more than once, until it wouldn't even power on. Then plugged it in to charge until i got the Battery Full notification. Still happens, not as much but it does. I'm starting to get used to it though, especially since a friend of mine with an OG S3 says he gets the same thing too.

Exactly what I'm worried about, I'd rather exchange the phone while I still can. For example, today I've had the phone sit on 25% for a long time, then suddenly decrease to 22% and sit there for a long time as well. This ticks me off a little, but I don't know whether it's an actual problem or not.

[Q] Battery almost empty after rebooting?

So, I bought a Galaxy S too. Nice phone. Awesome display. Delightful user experience. Now, few days later, after rebooting my phone, battery level drops from like 90% to just 10%, and restores to the original level after some time. What should I do?

Not enough information. Are you rooted? Are you on a custom ROM or kernel? Have you tried running the battery completely dead until the phone shuts off, then charge it all the way to 100%?

Sorry. Yes, it's rooted. Stock XXJVU, Semaphore kernel 2.5.0b (been using CF-Root and stock kernels before that, but there were no differences in battery level readings after reboot). Nope. How many 0-100% cycles would be necessary for it to do the trick (or fail)?

Might be a faulty battery. Check if it's swollen or anything, and try replacing it if you can get a spare.
Yeah, you need a new battery. Get the 1800mah Anker.

Dev, I am facing problem after buying a used Galaxy i9000 .
1.I charged my battery fully [100%] , then using after 5/6hr when battery goes down to 34%-35% , the Cell phone suddenly got shut down , When I plug it in , then it says battery was empty . Then I have to charge it again .
2.When battery is 66%-67% , I tun off my phone and started after 5min , I saw it's only 17% !!!
What is the remedy/ solution for this problem .
[Don't say to change ROM/kernel/ clean delvik cache , I have already done them]
Do this problem will be solved by Changing battery ?

Yes, as Knuckle said you will need a new battery perhaps the 1800 MAh.

I thought that someone bought such stuff on eBay and could suggest me some reliable seller(s) so that I don't buy some fake garbage labeled as Anker that will blow up in my pocket. Nevermind.
Okay, in order to not experience bad battery life again, what exactly should I do once my battery arrives? Wipe battery stats, few 0-100% cycles, later just make sure battery never goes below, say, 25%, and I should be fine? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Yeah, pretty much what you just said. Wiping the battery stats is a bit pointless but do it if it makes you feel good
Polarcell or Anker are the ones to get. There aren't any fakes of those that I've heard of. All the fakes I've seen claim silly capacities.

I mean, consider lowering your CPU clock as it seemingly stopped sudden blackouts on my Galaxy.
EDIT: Nope, it didn't.
