Instructions on how to flash lg gt540 with android 2.1

This is a guide on how to flash lg gt540 with android 2.1 open europe edition (there are also uk and orange roms) with integrated fastboot.
Things you'll need:
rom with fastboot:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=828003
lg gt540 hacker :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=812308
(actually you only need KDZ_FW_UPD program , but the original program is in russian the program inside lg gt540 hacker is translated into english)
if you want quarx 2.1 black edition then
quarx system.img:http://rghost.ru/2898235
Step 1: Preparing pc
Download and install android sdk
install lg driver:http://www.megaupload.com/?d=INEH3FZS
Note if you aren't using the installer you might wanna copy adb.exe , adbwinapi.dll and fastboot.exe to system32 and register them as paths
Step 2 repare the phone
This step is the easiest just go to applications\development settings and turn on debugging mode
Then backup the data on the phone and you're done
Step 3: FLASHING!

BY FOLLOWING THESE INSTRUCTIONS YOU'LL VOID YOUR WARRANTY. ALSO THERE IS A HUGE RISK OF BRICKING YOUR PHONE BEYOND REPAIR . I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY KIND OF DAMAGE YOU DO TO YOUR PHONE BY FOLLOWING MY INSTRUCTIONS.THE FACT THAT THEY WORKED FOR ME DOESN'T MEAN THAT THEY WILL WORK FOR YOU.
Download and extract the rom of your choice from the link above.
Download and extract lg hacker (note lg hacker is not made by me so the credits for it don't go to me)
open start.bat and choose number 6 rom updater.
follow the instructions the program gives you if you don't have mxml sp3 parser
install it .
After the updater starts make sure that windows enabler is runing in the tray
open it if not (it's inside the lg hack folder in rom updater folder)
then click on the tray icon and it should say on click on it again if not.
THIS IS IMPORTANT CHANGE TYPE TO 3GQCT.
ALSO IMPORTANT BEFORE FLASHING DISABLE LGE ANDROID USB MODEM DEVICE IN DEVICE MANAGER
click browse and browse to your rom and select it
wait and hope it works.
click Launch software update .
Wait and hope it works
After flashing is done disconnect and restore your backup
If you want quarx black edition
1. reboot in fastboot (CAMERA+POWER)
2. put adbwinapi.dll , fastboot.exe and system.img in one folder
3. open cmd window in that folder and type : fastboot.exe -w
fastboot.exe erase system
fastboot.exe flash system system.img
fastboot.exe reboot
CONGRATULATIONS
IF YOU FOLLOWED ALL THE STEPS CORRECTLY YOU SHOULD NOW HAVE A PHONE WITH QUARX 2.1 BLACK EDITION CUSTOM ROM ON IT CAPABLE OF
OVERCLOCKING AND UNDERCLOCKING AND OTHER THINGS
if you didn't follow correctly and you bricked your phone don't panic
just repeat step3 and change diag mode in kdz flasher to cs emergency.

Probelm
I bricked my phone when i was make a mistake downgraiding from 2.1 to 1.6.
Now the phone shows me only download mode (LG GT540).

Problem

Just some questions:

How do i restore my backup? And why should i?

For installed apps + usersettings. If u want to reinstall all apps and set them up again, u dont need to backup.
Best apps for this are "titanium backup" or "mybackup".

Likewise, everything went well for me just now, thanks for the guide.

It worked perfectly fine for me too. My phone showed the "Emergency" Screen a couple of times, did some reboots and the whole process took quite a few minutes, but I just left it and now it has 2.1 on it.

oookey can i use this tutorial when my phone is 2.1 and its not custom rom i installed with lg updater so its not modded in any ways besides its rooted

1. reboot in fastboot (CAMERA+POWER)

3. open cmd window in that folder and type : fastboot.exe -w

[Q] Error when running heimdall frontend and Android SDK tools.

When I enter the terminal and type either ./android (in the SDK folder) and when I type heimdall-frontend I get the error

How to port Aroma installer to your Rom

(1) Download this META-INF
(2) Extract & you will find "META-INF" folder.
(3) Go to META-INF/com/google/android/, replace the updater-script in this folder with your ROM/MOD updater-script.
(4) In the same folder, "aroma-config" file is also present, its contents are as follows:

aroma installer: Is an excutable binary that is based on the edify scripting that contains 2 excutables in meta-inf/com/google/android 1.is the ordinary update-binary (know as update binary installer) and the 2.is the aroma binary that split into two parts a.the aroma config and the b.the binary the config is which instructs the binary to make the ui like alert box and the menu box..

[GUIDE] How to Create Custom Boot Logo (Splash Screen) for Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro

Note:
This is not bootanimation, this is the splash screen (the 'Lenovo' boot logo which is displayed when device is switched ON)
This is for Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro Only..
For other devices, please send me your splash.img so that I can create a tool for you too.
Requirements:
1. Rooted Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro Plus (any ROM)
2. Optional: Terminal Emulator app or Custom Recovery or atleast working fastboot in computer
3. You're proceeding at your own risk.
STEPS to create splash.img:
1. Make sure you have a picture in PNG format with resolution exactly 1440x2560px.
2. Download & Extract this: Vibe_Z2_Pro_Splash_Maker.zip
3. Now rename your picture as logo.png & replace it inside "pics" folder of the extracted folder.
4. Finally, run the 'CREATE_LOGO.bat' to create splash.img and flashable zip file, which you can find inside the "output" folder after completion.
STEPS to flash splash.img:
Choose any one easy method:
a. To flash from recovery:
Transfer the flashable_splash.zip to your device and flash from TWRP or CWM or Philz or any other custom recovery.
b. To flash from Terminal Emulator:
Transfer the splash.img to your device's Internal Storage, Open Terminal Emulator & enter the following to flash it:

c. To flash from Fastboot mode:

fastboot flash splash splash.img
Note:
Incase something goes wrong or device doesn't bootup, flash the stock splash.img from custom recovery or fastboot.

I am on Linux so i couldn't use your .bat script, so I just did it manually, and it works
In case anyone wants to try this on linux, here's what I've done:
First install ffmpeg, in my case it was

sudo apt install ffmpeg
Then create the splash.raw (out of 1440x2560 splash.png)

ffmpeg -i splash.png -f rawvideo -vcodec rawvideo -pix_fmt bgr24 -y splash.raw
Append it to the header.img

cat 1440x2560_header.img splash.raw > splash.img
And finally, flash via fastboot

sudo fastboot flash splash splash.img
