thanks, the user guide comes to mind but thats just basic stuff on how to make calls and stuff like that which she already knows. ill look into looking for mags or online articles that she can read that will go more into depth in little details

So, where do you guys learn all this stuff?

So, I'm pretty curious. I've not been on this forum that long but what all you guys do is simply amazing. How/where did you guys learn all this ROM making, porting, linux development and things?
I'm off to Uni next year and I'd like to study programming. So could you give me a little insight to how you guys got started?
Thanks

That's good to hear. So how did you get started. Reading documents/books etc? Help from other people?
I would also like some insight on this topic.
Also good luck in programming. I have it now. Intro to pseudocode and in a few weeks we're starting java. It's boring as hell, but the exams are easy. So far I'm a straight A in that class. lol

There are plenty of guides there, and that is where I started.

Thank you XDA users

This is my first post on these forums.
Because of you folks, I went from buying my first Android phone not knowing a thing, to rooting my phone, flashing roms, even to editing my gps.conf manually to tweak a patch to suit my particular region.
The senior members are helpful, and the guides and information are top notch.
Thank you!

Had my old Kaiser right up to about a month ago when I split up with my gf and left it at her place. It was the original hacked WinMo/Android beast phone!! Went from that to the AT&T Tilt2 (Rhodium), to the HD2. It's too bad the HD2 is the last phone of that era. One of these days my Leo's gonna finally kick the bucket and I'll have to get a for real Android-native phone. That'll be a sad day.

[Q] How to videos/Youtube ?

hey guys, maybe we can also make "how to videos" on youtube so that we can get more of a visual help, and for newcomers. Videos that include stuff for the LG Thrill like rooting, install CWM Mod (touch/or regular one) NANDroid backups, factory reset, wipe cache ,install a new rom, and all the other good stuff I know that there are some videos out there already but we should make more. This is just an opinion and i want to know what yall think. Give me a thanks or comment or what ever lol ^.^ hope to hear yall's response
How about you only post this thread once?
sorry for making it twice >_<

It's cool!
We only need a video for like two guides though. I don't have a Thrill or I would make one.

Why do you still hang around?
No disrespect, I know you've done great things for this phone, but it seems like you're only here to unofficially moderate these forums.

Thankfully he stays around. Thanks to him many people have an actual working Thrill. Not a stock full of bloat and other crap. He helped me out on my Thrill. If I could afford to I'd ship him my phone.

Only one who is developing it seems is Bdadd34. He's still new to the game so he is only doing what he can.
About the OP:
I'd post a video of flashing a custom ROM from another custom ROM. But I don't foresee me changing anytime soon. I'm liking my setup now. Sorry. :/
I can make a video, but it won't be super accurate. I'd have to use my SGSII or Captivate as a "Thrill".

Bluetooth Voice Dial? Anyone!?!?!

Hey gang,
I'll admit, I'm a total noob when it comes to XDA and the whole world of Android modding in general but I have a pretty simple question to ask. Does anyone know of a WORKING Voice Dial.apk or free voice dial app that will work with a bluetooth headset? I live in Ontario Canada and it's law here that we cannot use our phone while driving unless it's with a handsfree (i.e. Bluetooth device.) Normally I wouldn't care but I'm a delivery driver by trade so this feature is EXTREMELY important to me.
I've tried several great roms and my thanks to all the devs on here for all the time and effort spent on them, but, if I don't get a working app soon or a way to port a working .apk I'll have to go back to my old phone as I can;t afford the $500 fine if I get caught. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Regards..
Couldn't you just use Google voice? Unless you don't have data.... the other thing is that I haven't even tried it myself, I thought I might suggest it other than that, I'll have to do some searching

Thanks for the response!! Unfotunately no Google Voice still requires you to handle the phone to start it as well as requires a subscription to actually call phones. It's kind of like skype that way. I just wish samsung hadn't excluded it from the original firmware as I really do like the phone other that that one issue. Problem is that's a REALLY big issue for me. As I said, any help is definitely appreciated.
Grr, I think Samsung finally got the voice dialing on the S2 and S3.... but I digress
Try Voice Speed Dial on the Google Play Store. It costs around $3, but it's something to start with. Reviews look OK, but I haven't tried it (too cheap to pay the moneys lol).

There is a thread about Android already
Thread in question
Evening,
The thread in question is here;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=832545&page=100
Seems like nothing is happening with it a lately. There was a lot of buzz around a possible port but nothing has come of it. Keep you ear to the ground and keep hoping.
