Has anyone noticed this bug with JPY?:
When you first boot and open Gallery it is super fast with all the thumbnails preloaded. After a couple of hours when you open it again it says "Loading images" and re caches the thumbnails again taking some time. This is especially evident in folders with a lot of images. It would be ok for an hour and then bam! Loading images slowly when i open it again.
Clicking on a folder opens it with the first four pics showing and then scrolling you have to wait a few seconds for the thumbnails to appear whereas when it initially booted all the thumbnails were already there. Its like it deletes the thumbnails after a while and has to generate them again which takes some time especially if you have a lot of folders and pics.
Is this normal, I don't remember this in my old firmware? Its the only thing that is bugging me. Maybe they force close Gallery after a certain time avoid the sensor draining bug that was there with the previous firmware?
Can you please check a see if yours is the same so i dont have to do a factory reset
you can download SGS tools from the markup and upgrade your gallary app.. that's what i did and i don't have any problems with the gallery anymore..
goodluck
The gallery app in SGS tool is not compatible with JPY because of the new feature of selecting wall paper for lock screen. I gave it a try but it would force close everytime i wanted to select a wallpaper.

Absolutely the same and even more.... I have my picasa account connected to the gallery too, after an hour mainly picassa the gallery crashes - black screen, but no force close. Actually this one, the battery (not 100% after disconnecting) and the contacts app not closing, made me go back to JPP.

The contacts bug can be solved by uninstalling the task manager's update.

i have a HTC Incredible S unbranded . For the last couple of days i have noticed that some of the pics that i download or take using the camera are not visible in the Gallery app of the phone. The same happens with some mp3 files which i have copied on the SD Card.
These files are visible when viewed in a file manager like Astro or OI File Manager.
If i reboot the phone couple of times or do a factory reset these files reappear in the Gallery and the HTC Music App , but only for a few days.
Is my SD Card corrupt or is there a fix for this?
I just noticed the same over the weekend. Some pics I took Friday do not show in gallery but I can find them through ES File Explorer...
This used to happen to me, just unmount and remount the SD Card and they'll reappear. Hasn't happened yet since the OTA to Gingerbread.
I unmounted and remounted the SD Card and its fine for the moment. Just waiting for the 2.3.3 update to hit India.
I've been updated to Gingerbread now since it was released in the UK, this is the standard OTA update.
I've also just noticed in the last week that some recent photos I took at the weekend are not showing up in Gallery. If I reboot the phone they appear again (for a while), clearing the cache/data in the app manager doesn't work. Even after rebooting to make them appear, they have disappeared again after a day.
When I open the Gallery program, the rotating 'refresh' icon is present, but some photos just don't appear in there.
I can find and open the photos using a File Explorer (Speed Software's Explorer v1.0), just not with the Gallery app.
I downloaded FxCamera last week, I wonder if this has caused some sort of corruption as it couldn't open the Gallery from inside the app...? I just uninstalled it and have rebooted my phone, I'll see if this fixes the problem.
Any other ideas anyone?
well after the gingerbread update , the pictures and the mp3's disappeared once. Did the unmount and remount thingie and it has reappeared. Also Wifi is now broken.
I noticed that for some wallpapers
not showing on Gallery.

To quote myself and report back on my findings, after I uninstalled FxCamera, I haven't lost any of my files in Gallery again. So I blame that app for my problems with missing images!
(If you don't have that installed but are still seeing the issue, then it must be something else on your device... (obviously!))
Cheers.
Certainly seems like an issue with some app interfering here.
No problem with my IS before or after 2.3.3 update.
i suggest you try with all stock apps (camera, music & pictures related) for a few days & see if this solves your issue.
Hi everyone,
First post here. I did a search for this problem but couldnt find anything...
Purchased this phone a couple of weeks ago. So far pretty good, battery life is great but one problem my handset has is that the Album constantly crashes. Every single time I open the album, within 5 seconds it will give the error message, "Unfortunately, Album has stopped". I've restarted the phone, installed all the updates and its getting very frustrating now. I cant even keep the album open long enough to send a picture via whatsapp. I've tried installing QuickPic but for some reason it hasnt 'transferred' all the media that I have and it seems most programs use Album by default.
I've attached a screenshot of the problem (which I somehow managed to upload before the 5 second mark and error came up again).
If anyone can suggest the solution to this I'd appreciate it, thanks.

Thanks for the reply. It says 'All this app's data will be deleted permanently. This includes all files, settings, accounts, databases etc'. Does this mean I will lose all my pictures/videos?
Also there are two 'clear data' options, one for storage and one for cache. Were you referring to one in particular, or both?
Thanks again.
Clear data and clear cache
From here
And no. You will lose no photos or videos which are on your internal storage/sdcard.
Thanks for the suggestion. I did lose a few pictures, but not sure where exactly they were stored.
The crashes stopped for a few hours but has since returned.
Help needed! I have a Note 9 on At&t. I have attached the path where one of the photos keeps appearing. I do not have samsung cloud active so when I delete photos often times some of them appear a day later. I have went directly to the path and deleted them for them only to appear hours later. I did a search and located nothing so fear I may be the only one experiencing this.
Maybe you saved it in a cloud so it reappears... Try to synchronize or delete directly in the cloud if you done that.
These are just the cache not the original picture. You need to delete/clear the pictures cache.
The best program I found to do this is "Unseen Gallery" which is available on the store.
Hope this helps.

On my s9 note if you go to the menu option in the gallery settings you should see the option to disable save photos for 15 days before permanently deleted in trash.
I recently facing battery drain by Gallery app.i have tried to find the issue but there is no background data usage and even i restricted the app. Anybody if you know the solution then let me know almost half battery is drained by gallery and i need to charge my device twice.
The gallery was apparently scanning for a random corrupted image, delete it and the drain will go away

Is there any app or way to find corrupted pictures and video because I have around 20000+pics so it's hard to find.

Same problem that Xiaomi Gallery App drains Battery in Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro.
What did I do to fix it? (temporarily)
I just deleted all the data and cache from the gallery app and I also disabled background battery usage, background wifi and data usage and removed all permissions from gallery + i don't open the app anymore. (This is just a temporary solution, you will lose some of the features of the device but you can enable them later when you fix the corrupted file(s).
Until I find the corrupted file(s) I will not use the gallery app anymore because I lost half of my battery every day to the gallery app. You can try the method I used or a fix of the different steps I took and see what is suitable for your needs.
How can you fix it permanently? (maybe)
You can install MP4Fix or DiskDigger from Play Store (or download DiskDIgger official apk) and hope that it finds all the corrupted files. Another way to find the corrupted files is to compare all the files from the File Explorer and the Gallery app and see what is missing but it will take a long time and it may still show the corrupted file in the Gallery. Other more serious ways to fix it is by erasing all data (factory reset) or rooting your phone and using a custom rom but be aware you will lose all your data.
How to see the live battery drain on your device?
Also another app to see if your battery is being discharged very fast is Charge Meter (you can download from Play Store),
my device normally draws ~150-300mAh but when I have the gallery app open it draws ~900-1000mAh
Hope this helps!
(I am not a technician and whatever you do with your device I am not responsible. I am not affiliated with any of the apps that I have listed above you can use your own preference of apps if you want. Feel free to contact me if you want to exchange information or ask more questions.)

DiskDigger is just a tool to help you clean your storage so it doesn't find corrupted files, it cleans traces of files you have previously deleted (in some cases files may have not been deleted right). If you want to find a corrupted video use MP4Fix that worked in my case. For corrupted photos you can search the Play Store for an app or search the internet for apps that you can later download the .apk file. I have not yet found an app for corrupted photos but when I do I will post an edit to my recommended solutions, if you find an app that works please share the information to the forum.

So happy to hear that, unfortunately in my phone it is still problematic so I just disabled the gallery app again.
May I ask where the pictures were located in your phone (ex. DCIM folder, Viber folder) and how they got there (ex. downloaded from chrome, camera, viber, instagram e.t.c)? And also if the pictures were showing just fine on the gallery and files apps and how many pictures did you delete.
If you like you can private message me to share this information, if you don't want no hard feelings I just want to help others and myself with the same problem. More information we share, we make it more helpful for others!
