Apparently everyone else in the entire world has updated to 4.2.2 officially. Has anyone from the United States specifically T Mobile customers gotten the latest update yet?

It will be months till tmobile gets it,they only released it a week or two ago, who knows they may skip it to 4.3 but there's no way if they were gonna update this fast they would have released with it,just flash it through the flashtool root not needed

I was hesitated about flashing and rooting my Z, but I just did everything and I am running 4.2.2 and rooted with my t-mobile Z. You can search hear to see how to flash and root.
Root is quite easy. Change some settings on your phone, plug, click and ready to be rooted. Flashing is bit more work to be done but they are also easy such as install drivers for your Z in flash mode (like DFU mode in iOS) to make Flash software to work.

I have the Tmobile 6606 and I tried flashing both German and French 422 updates and couldn't get lte to work no mater which way I flashed with or without baseband and the exact apn settings with lte preferred click. Just won't work for me.
Flashing stock firmwares on this phone is not much different than doing the same on Samsung and HTC phones. A few things to download and that's it. If you've ever used Odin with a Samsung phone before, it's a very simaler process.

You definitely still have t-mobile Z baseband.
Your stock baseband hasn't changed.
Here is my stock and 6506 baseband. I just flash baseband only.
With 6506 baseband, I don't get t-mobile LTE even though it has LTE_BC4

Hi
Can I flash the stock ROM (FTF) for the C6602/C6603 on my T-Mo US version (C6606)?
I own a Xperia U (ST25a) and I could flash any stock rom intended for the ST25i as long as I avoided updating the baseband/radios, wonder if it is the same for the Z.
Any info, greatly appreciated

so no issues with LTE functionality etc? and what method did you use in order to update to 4.2.2?
thank you for your help
Here is the link to the lastest flashtool I used:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2162907
And here is the firmware (out of all the .423 updates this one seems the most smooth)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2356455
This is the guide i followed and is well written:
http://www.xperiablog.net/2013/04/01/debrand-your-xperia-z-tutorial/
Just a reminder, by updating and debranding your Z, you will lose all T-Mobile specific features such as wifi-calling, hotspot (just use another one from play store), T-mobile TV, etc.
if you need to revert back to stock T-mobile here is the firmware:

Your picture shows 6606 as the model, but you give a link to a 6602 firmware. How'd you manage that?
T-mobile Xperia Z
the firmware is indeed 6602 but hardware wise we are the same so it works fine. I edited the build.prop file so my device appears on softwares that i am a 6606 and not a 6602 (e.g. play store, xda app, etc.) also make sure when you flash the firmware that you "check" the box on the right that says "exclude" baseband so that you retain the T-Mobile radios (e.g. LTE, etc.)

So i've successfully flashed the 4.2.2 linked to in this thread, but I have no LTE either. I tried it with both basebands, and neither one gives me the option for LTE in the Mobile Network Settings menu. The first flash I did it while exluding baseband of the 6602, then I tested and reflashed with baseband of 6602, tested and went back and flashed just the baseband of the t-mo 6606. All three options provided the same result, no LTE options.

Hello,
I would like to buy a Xperia Z with an unlockable bootloader and I currently have T-mobile as my provider.
Which version of the Xperia Z would be most compatible with T-mobile and have an unlockable bootloader (aside from the T-mobile version)?
Where would I buy such a phone?
Would I have to make any compromises (ie data/cell links)?
Thank you very much.

There seems to be a way to flash an C6603 basebands what would enable lte for the C6602 n baseband 4. Because it actually does have lte but it is not official enabled. Yeah on the C6602 u can enable lte option with flashing a C6603 rom. Basebands sadly can't the flashed to a different baseband. The C6602 has lte 4 and some others but never official lte like the Nexus 4. That has lte disabled but with some unofficial ways u can enable it. I am glad u understand. Trust me if I could I would flash lte baseband that will work in my C6603 for the USA. Sadly I can't.

Well what lte band uses t mobile? The C6602 could get lte 4. Because it has lte build in but disabled. U need to flash a C6603 ftf to it to make lte option be available. It seems to work but the speed supposed to be not as fast as it should be. Kinda like on the Nexus 4 lte worked but wasn't as powerful or fast as it should have been.

What? U can flash ftf C6603 to a C6606 that is no problem. U need flashtool then u also can root it doomlord easy root and u can even install a dual recovery even with locked bootloader. The first thing to say would have been that the bootloader on a C6606 cannot be unlocked anyway.
You should also have advised the OP to exclude the baseband during flashing of a C6603 ftf to a C6606 as flashing the baseband would apparently cause loss of LTE.
Edit : Apparently, it is safe to flash other basebands. Just going off what other people that actually have the phone were saying initially. I stand corrected on that one.
Or just link to one of the threads where this has already been discussed, like this one - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2372664 instead of going over the same ground again.

Lol, no of course my hardware stayed the same, if your phone does not have the proper bands software won't change that

Hi
Will my phone update from. 569 to 10.4.1.B.0.101 MTN South Africa with the boot loader unlocked? I don't want to waste 800 megs of data if it won't work.
TIA.

No, you should download the ftf file and flash it via flashtool

You're welcome. You can use any ftf file as long as it is for your phone (eg. C6603)
And what about custimisation numbers?

Right, I forgot that, he has to exclude it when he flashes the rom

What about it? Flashing a different rom will change the customisation number. What's your point?

Exclude the customisation number? What?
Do you guys know what you're talking about?

Hi again,
Does the flashtool give me an option to leave the customisation number out or how do I do this?
TIA

Don't worry about it. If you flash a different regions rom, your customisation number will change.
That has no functional effect on your phone whatsoever and it's not something that can be excluded from the flash as it's just a value in build.prop.

Now I'm confused
OK cool thanks Guv.

Don't be. The customisation number is part of the rom. Just don't concern yourself with it. As long as you flash a FTF for your specific model, then you'll be fine.

Thanks kingvortex,
I thought that the custimisation number was region specefict and thought that the netherlands had a different setting or something then the brasilian one for example

It is, but it doesn't matter. When you flash a different rom, the customisation number will change.
It's mainly used when checking for updates via the PCC or OTA, so you will receive updates for the current customisation version of your phone. As the OP has unlocked their bootloader, they cannot receive updates via those methods anyway.

It should work just fine. I've done this while on t-mobile, and wouldn't think at&t would be any different. You might have to get at&t apn for MMS to work or once flashed over or try downloading network info from within the settings.
Can u guide me to where I could flash the firmware. All the stuff I need for it. And then I'll flash every thing but the baseband right?

Check this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/help/xperia-z-t-mobile-rom-t2685138
Should have links for everything you need, and I've always flashed everything just as flashtool instructions say unless I was upgrading rooted roms.
Kk thx
