I recently discovered a free app that improves the touch screen performance of our phone. Check out SGS Touchscreen Booster in the market.
There are a few preset settings to chose from.
I started out with Optimized which brought my Atrix HD touch screen sensitivity to near iPhone 4 levels. I was happy with this setting until I started customizing the settings and now have a phone I am not only very happy with but proud to say it should have come this way from the factory
In the app, I have mine set to:

Seems like placebo to me. Didn't notice much difference, then I reduced multi-touch points to 1 and was still able to multi-touch. Can see with this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.the511plus.MultiTouchTester
Set it to the 'worst' settings and still seemed the same.
I am on 4.3 if that matters, which is a lot more responsive feeling than 4.2.

Haven't tried it with 4.3 yet. This could be why you're not feeling a difference. If the ROM has the settings built in, then chances are you're not going to see a difference.
Wish there was a listing of these settings for each Android firmware to see how they're set from the factory. I can vouch that the settings made my experience much better on both Holoblur (4.1.2) & TouchWizMod (4.2.2).

I actually run my phone with the developer option on that shows the points that you touch on the screen, there was always a lag so I could see the indicator dragging behind my finger, with this enabled there is no more lag and it remains directly under my finger. I had to look at it from an angle to tell that it was even there anymore.
This mod messed my fifa 14 gameplay so bad I had to uninstall it.
Works well for me.
Does it effect battery life?
I don't know if it's placebo or not but it seems be working pretty good for me

Hi guys .. just got the Optimus 2x review unit.
I have it for about 2 weeks to try.
You guys got any questions about the device ? anything you want to know ? Will try to answer
Status LED
Oh Great!
yeah, here's the first one:
I saw on different pictures just left to the upper speaker several... let's say "spots".. in the display. I suppose one is for the brightness regulation and the others? For what they are? Would be amazing if one of these spots is a Status LED! Could you come up with this info?
thanks!
PS: h t t p://presse.lge.de/riot-utils/download/media/3/87566576697678/lg_optimus_speed_2.jpg Here you'll see what I mean.
probably proximity senzor, I dont think it has led indicator.
test battery life with sync and all apps and backround services, debugging etc off.
tet standby over a night with 3g and 2g.
then test heavy sufing with opera mini and standard browser on lowest and hight brightness
Yeah battery is important.
real life performance
Hi
I would be interested to know how smooth the optimus 2x would be after one day of usage and without using an application killer.
from my experience with the Galaxy S, the phone is quite smooth at boot time, but after sometime of usage where you would open and exit apps, the phone would get really laggy and even unusable to the extent that you have to reboot. People resort to using task killers to improve the phone performance which negates the purpose behind the android OS as it is designed to run at the same speed irrespective of whether you have 200 mb of free ram or 40 mb of free ram
So is this same with the optimus 2X or is the smooth experience persistent
Thanks
sadly .. its only the proximity sensor and nothing else .. digged into the menus and could not find anything about notification led

It's fault of Froyo not the Phone i think. There is multi task but no chance to close apps. With gingerbread update it will be better i think.
BATTERY ?
Does it play divx/xvid/mkv out of the box? and in 1080p?
If not, does any market app like vplayer or rockplayer solve it?
could you tell me if the LG flavour of Android includes the original News and weather widget?

Lag is a software problem not a hardware problem. The question is whether its a problem pertinent to the Android system itself or the vendor specific add-ons (bloatware) that each vendor adds (Touchwiz, htc sense, etc)

I picked the phone up about a week ago.. Here's what I can tell you about the performance over time.
Immediately after a reboot it runs like a dreams.. even after a couple days its fine. I ended up having to reboot today because it was starting to get pretty laggy. But like rouvax said, i believe thats an OS problem, not a phone problem.

The phone comes with an app called CarHome (one of google's apps i believe), which after looking at the battery usage is an energy hog. After killing that, and some of the other bloatware that comes on it, the phone will last me a day or so of light usage with wifi constantly on. Playing a lot of games will obviously drain the battery, down to about 8-10 hrs from what i've noticed, I haven't tested it extensively for exact numbers

Hi!
One thing that would be nice to is if there is a widget to enable/disable mobile data connection.
What I mean is the widget "mobile" that (mostly?) HTC devices have.
Maybe the 2X/Speed has one under "LG Widgets".
Here are some screenshots of what I mean:

Hi,
Does the 2x support USB OTG or USB host, i.e. is it possible to access an external USB storage? Would be great to stream media from an external hard drive via DLNA or HDMI. A micro-SD card is too small for a feature-length 1080p movie.
Thanks
- Does it have a good and loud speaker function so it can be used in a car (as navigation)?
- Can de LG launcher be disabled in favor of the stock android launcher?
So i notice now in 4.2 in developer options we have the option to force 4x multi sample anti aliasing. Should this improve gaming performance?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
As far as I know of Pc gaming, increasing anti aliasing increases graphics quality but reduces performance.. It might be that everyone is talking about better and sharper texts..
Yes the text is much better very crisp.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Is it active by default..? Otherwise I don't see a reason of it being on dev options..
No, i enabled it.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
So text are crisp and clear when it is enabled or they are already crisp even it is not enabled.. Shortly what difference can you see when switched on/off?
I am not sure if the crisp text is anything to do with this option.

This should only work when playing a game since it's a 3d application. It will smooth out the rugged edges, and thus enhancing the visual quality.
This does nothing in normal usage tho'. So you won't notice it unless you are playing a game that's very "pixely".
I've lost the dev options in Settings
Is it in other path?

Yeah. I read about this a few weeks ago. Not sure why Google hid it though. Force 2d rendering benefits pretty much everyone. I am surprised its not on by default now. Ive never really encountered any apps that have issues.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Its really great that google implemented that, it makes android actually to a much better gaming platform for me. Now zoo the bad news: this wont work with our nexus because tegra 1/2/3 are the only gpu known to man that don't support msaa.
Yep, Nvidia Tegra implements CSAA https://developer.nvidia.com/csaa-coverage-sampling-antialiasing
So, will enabling this option, cause any problems on tegra devices?
A quick google search says that msaa on the tegra chip only shows up in open gl applications. got a game that runs in open gl? then msaa should make it look prettier by (as someone else stated) blurring out jagged edges. text in games should be better but im not quite sure how exactly msaa works using its edge detection. on my gaming rig i have amd and LOVE their msaa. Far superior to msaa and nvidias txaa (imo). msaa will blur text edges and everything for a really nice and sharp look on about everything on every game

Thanks for this thread
<---- Noob, ok now that is out of the way.
Thank you all so much for this thread. I finally got around to rooting my i717 and been playing with CM10, and AOSP The Collective. I flashed CM10.1 once, but because of all the screen tearing in landscape I couldn't play most of my games. I loved AOSP, but the kernel, I believe, will not let you move apps to SD which is a big deal to me. I finally went back to CM10.1 after finding out how to get the dev option to disable HW overlays and force GPU for 2d. I could not find this information in the Galaxy Note i717 forums.

Wrong thread?
Developers can set the level of anti aliasing for Tegra 3 in their code manually. Although this option for us might be useful for a particularly jagged game, I ran through Epics Citadel multiple times with 4x AA enabled and disabled without being able to discern a difference.
Maybe if someone finds a title that this developer option utilizes well they can post it to this thread.
I am very disappointed with this device. Since I bought this phone always had problems.
Starting from overheating when I'm playing something.
Then the side of the device begins to peel.
Then mold spots appear on the screen.
Then this whole bootloader, rom buggy, etc.
If this device was really good, I do not feel the need to change rom and make the machine go through so many updates. The handset comes with manufacturing a critical bug in the camera. Among other problems. Now I finally got my braces bad time. If I can not fix it I have to leave for Samsung.
I'm no novice user. I've had three devices of Lg.
Lg Optimus One Phone = Bug Phone.
Lg Optimus 2x = Bug Phone.
And now the Lg Optimus 4x = Hd Bug Phone.
I am seriously evaluating getting a Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Visit the forum of this device in Xda. Hardly find complaints about it.
Lg P880 I bought this because it is cheaper, but now I find that cheap actually ends up costing too high.

Also, try playing games on any phone and it will get hot. This goes for literally any device on the planet.

Yep same here the "quad core+1" tegra 3 "blazing fast" cpu is one real bad cpu to start with, it sucks for real tasks and overheats for that matter. the screen isn't like the other hd ips screens it has a yellow temperature tint unlike the others the blues look desaturated the most out of all the colors and it feels cheaply made.

please define your "overheating"
overheating is when your device powers off, due to 90°C processor temperature...
the tegra 3 default throttle temp is 85°C, LG's is 71°C... i changed the value in my custom kernel to 80°C, so we can get a better performance also with high temps...
and have you ever been thinking what's working in your device? you've got 4 CPU cores and 1 GPU core... now think of a normal PC, what does a normal PC have, what a phone doesn't? right, a fan. or cooling in general. so the higher temps are completely normal...

If you have any problems like bubbles under the screen or excessive-myfingersareburning-overheating you should probably use your warranty and get this device checked by authorized personel. Personally, I had none of these problems you mentioned. Phone is rooted, bootloader is unlocked, CyanogenMod is happily running "under the hood". Stock ROM was pretty good for me, but CM is CM. You can't say 'no' to CM. If you don't like this phone, then sell it. Note 2 is indeed a powerful device, I'm sure that you'll be happy with it. But! This phone has yet to show its true power through custom ROMs and kernels. My old 2010 flagship - HTC Desire - got ROM with JB and Touchwiz5 powered by awesome custom kernel, so I really have no doubts that our O4X, which is 10 times stronger than Desire, will get some sick modifications sooner or later (starting with EternityProject kernel and CM 10.1). Cheers! :highfive:

I can't speak much of comparing the 4X to other phones as my last phone was some crappy chinese knock-off of a htc sensation. But my 4X is built very well (id like to see what you guys mention as 'bubbles' under your screen, was it like that since you brought it?) the phone does get ridiculously hot (you might have seen my thread about my screen suffering major distortion for a few hours, due to overheating while on ac charge ), but again well within tegra 3 specs (this this is stock clocked at 1.5ghz which is 200mhz higher than my tf300t tablet which has much more room to dissipate heat)
Im in love with the design of the phone, only issue i have is i feel the back button is on the wrong side but i use LMT launcher anyway(if you don't know what it is i suggest you look it up). The stock firmware was fine(no issues) other than feeling bloated, stock jellybean was slightly smoother and a bit lighter, CM10.1 is absolutely amazing and in my opinion increases the value of the phone drastically.
Just my take on it.....

How many people Don't like android 4.3 please tell to Sony
1.Consuming too much power and affecting battery life.
2.Scrolling is very noisy so need too much repolish user interface.Project butter isn't works. Every application is not smooth e.g - in clock move from world clock to timer breaks, home screen, gallery, slide show is bad.
3.Some applications run in background always live in notification bar eg - Uc Web background download always shows in notification bar "Uc Web is running tap to more information "
4. Bugs with Blutooth, wifi, nfc
5. With this operating system applications run problematic not perfectly like chrome
6. Old camera UI was excellent - excellent..look and functionality.New UI looks very very bad and decreased quality.
7.Problem with video recording.
8. New Keyboard app is very very bad We want old keyboard.
9. Ram management is bad.
I have none of those problems, apart from a small decrease in quality from the camera.
Battery consumption is the same as 4.2 for me and everything seems smoother than before.

Btw OP, whats your question? It seems like this is mostly a general post instead of a Q&A. I see the first part of your question but the second part doesnt seem to fit. Are you going to tell Sony? Or do you want answers in order to take a petition to Sony? Which I doubt will be looked at.

Hey guys. I am going to (probably) buy this phone as it is really good/cheap but before i do i would like to ask some questions.
1st. Does it have the new UI of lg? If not is there any news about getting it? (You know the same as LG G3) thats the main reason i want to buy it.
2nd. I like games like dead trigger 1. How does it perform? is it playable at Low-Medium-High-Very high[with GLtools].
3rd. Is this phone going to be updated to Android L? I have been searching for hours but couldn't find something except that android L is 64bit and probably wont run on our phone.
these are my questions till now. thank you in advance!
1 If you root and install cyanogenmod, you can choose a theme (like G3)
2 I don't know
3 who knows, but with cyanogenmod (or other custom rom) there is a lot more possible!

i am sorry but i hate cyanogenmod 100% stock android look. android by default is super ugly and not even the best theme for cm can fix that
Then you have to look for an other solution (or phone)

thank you for the info . But i would like to know is there any performance difference between cm11 and stock?
I know ram is better on CM but what about Gpu?
The performance is way better, I don't play games on it, but I noticed when I used scr which is using gpu to render. When I recorded a test, it was smooth.

Thank you for the info.
I forgot to ask what about speaker quality is it good? Is it loud?
What do you consider loud? I use it to listen to music while showering and I hear everything, though I have to say that I sample all my songs 125% louder.

i can consider it loud when i have it an an other room inside my bag and i can hear it while it is ringing . For example my Sony xperia neo v is super loud.( it has Xloud by Sony).
Then it's loud enough

Sorry to bother you, but... mine lags (occasionally) even on the lowest settings. So how come CM11 fixes that ? (I mean, Adreno 305 can never outperform Adreno 320)

Hi there. I am not willing to install CM11 as it has the aosp look which is UGLY. No mater the theme you put on it. It is ugly. If i get the phone i will create my own themes and try to make this phone look like g3.
If someone needs cm11 then i believe Moto G is better.

I don't know, I just say in my case Dead Trigger 2 from madfingers (I think) played with no lag at all, needless to say I used to play it quite often on settings that were the highest possible (yes, I did see the difference in graphics after changes, but not in performance)
That's strange because, then it would mean there is no difference between the two GPUs. On my phone, there is no way to play on highest settings. (I tried it today) I can get it to run, but, the frame rate is too choppy.
I'll investigate this further as I'm not sure what settings allow 305 to perform like 320 (which would be great)
@OP
You should learn more about this because, by default, the device cannot run at highest settings without stuttering. (it's a 305)

you can give gltools a try. It may increase the fps a bit.
