(REQUEST) hardware key button remapping mod - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know how to remap the harware buttons similar to what viper rom has as options? For instance long press back, home, and double press back and home. Also swipe up on home button. I would imagine that this is possible through smali edits in android.policy.jar but I don't know where or how at this point. If someone could help me I would really appreciate it. I love venom rom but I would like to atleast try out a few other options out there but I have found the remapping options with venom extremely had to give up.
Thanks, in advance

ViperOne can do this.

Nearly all of the custom roms and kernels for the One have remapping options. Are you trying to learn how to do this manually?
Also, the One only has capacitive back and home buttons, not hardware buttons like the Galaxy series.

No there are only a couple sense roms that have this option. As far as not being hardware buttons, it should be understood what I am referring to.
The only option that some kernels add is for HTC logo for menu

If you need to use the Volume to wake up your phone, you can use a custom ROM such as the latest version of Android Revolution HD. Also in this latest version, long pressing the home button acts as MENU.
If you need to assign a capacitive button to work as MENU you can use a custom Kernel such as Faux123. It gives you the option to use the HTC logo as MENU and to wake your phone using the Home button and Sleep using the long pressing the HTC logo.
If you need to use the Volume Keys to take pictures inside the camera app, you can use this mod

How to wake up vivid screen without power button

Hello guys,
Personally i don't like to use power button too frequently, but in reality for Vivid, the only way to wake up screen is power button.
So is there any way we can change its behavior?
I would like the "home key" in the left bottom of Vivid to wake up screen also.
It's possible?
Thanks.
Not sure anything like this exists at the moment. On my previous phone the HTC Aria running CM7 I could wake the phone with the track ball which was pretty cool but I too would like to be able to wake the phone using other buttons.
Your answer sir...

My power button no longer works on my phone. For a while I was using Smart Screen Off Pro, which is pretty cool, but it doesn't lock the phone most of the time. Instead, flash KozmitKKernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1572015
It has sweep to wake which rocks, you swipe (sweep) from left to right across the capacitative buttons to wake the device, and in reverse to turn the screen off. That plus a touch recovery (and adb reboot) and I never have to touch my broken power button!
I also am running Kozmikkernel along with Dark Raider ROM and it works great!! Had a little trouble at first with WiFi but only took a few minutes of tweaking and it was up and running. I don't use the power button anymore at all...the sweep from home to search easily wakes up the phone and swiping search to home puts it back to sleep...very nice.

Use holics
if you have your phone rooted then you can use a custom rom, i use holics and it has a feature that lets you swipe from the home button to the search button and it turns on the screen i really like the feature and the rom is awesome, and runs very smooth

If you dont like to use Power Button anymore, I would suggest to go with DarkRaider ROM in which you have option to install Swype to Wakeup your VIVID.
Just Simply Swype your finger from Home Button to ---> Search Button and Your VIVID is UP!!!!!
Look for ma thread on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1676977 to turn S off and get the ful fledge of your custom ROMS!!!!!

It's not dark raider that gives you sweep2wake...
It's either kozmikkernel or faux123's kernel

True. But personally I like the combo of Dark Raider and KozmikKick.
Also, as DR contains LeeDroid's Tweaks, you can enable the option "Menu to unlock", so that way you only have to swipe Home->Menu->Back->Search and you'll be awake, and then just press the menu key and you'll be on your homescreen in notime!

I was not talking about the kernel, the Dark Raider 1.5.4 ROm has four different kernels in it and you have option to select and install the same!!! Check it out!! I think You mistook my point!!!

Any one know of away to take screen shots with out power button. I'm running asylum cm10 v6 and have no power button all apps I have found do not work with the gnote. So I'm looking for ether a app or a way to remap buttons to do it with one button like holding the back button or something like that.

I'm sure you know it already or maybe the custom ROM won't support it but did you try putting the side of your palm and sweeping it to the left? or maybe holding the button on the s pen and touch the screen with it?
If you already knew that and that the pen would not work on a custom rom, peace!
The palm trick only works on TW roms so , I guess you will have to use power button
I guess there are many apps in playstore to take screenshots
well i could not get any apps to work so i just figured out how to remap the power button to the home button so i lost the home button but have my power button back is a good trade for me anyways
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.geeksoft.screenshot&hl=en I had a similar problem before and this was what worked for me.
Remap worked fine for me no need for an app

Buttons navigation for The new HTC One ?

The new HTC One has been released. However, only 2 visible button is presented. Home and back button. So do anyone know how the HTC One to access the other functions like "Multi-task" and "Menu" ? Is the "hTC" icon in the bottom of the phone also a functionable button?

From what I just read, double-tap on home brings up recent apps. Not sure about the menu though...it probably uses the 3-dot menu standard in ics and above.
If you ask me, I'd say they should've ditched the buttons or whatever they're called and just put some extra screen real estate and give us a software/onscreen navigation bar.

Double tapping home gives you the recent apps while holding down home will launch you to Google now. I'm not sure about the menu system. Its probably the 3 dot system like the above post.
Yes no one seems to know how to access the menu.
Access menu is the 3 dot on screen, just like htc one x

[Q] remapping htc one button

Hi my fellow Xda friends,
I'm currently using revolution ROM, I'm wondering is there any kernel that allows me to remap my button according to my will?
At the moment my logo is setting/ menu, and I'm hoping to change my back long press or home long press to multi task, since the double tap home doesn't always recognise.
Cheers

In one word no there's lots of options in some kernels just not that well not yet
Have you tried changing double click speed in button settings ?
Can be normal, slow or very slow. These are with stock kernel

3 Dot Menu (GE)

How to get rid of this and use home or back button as menu without different kernel? Thanks Xda.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Right now, you don't.
Aww was hoping there'd be a way.. Htc should have included the option to switch like in sense since they put some sense things in GE anyways.. Smh.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
you can. add qemu.hw.mainkeys = 1 to the end of your build.prob. youll loose the ability to map to another menu button unless you install a custom kernel. and also install the modaco toolkit to get the menu button in apps which have them mapped to the action bar
It's coming back in 4.2.2 if you are sticking with stock rom.
