ViperRom One is rock solid with good battery life. I would stay away from anything CM or AKOP until they fix the bricking issue, if they ever do.

I'm not running CM or anything just the first time I heard this. Looks like it could be the kernels also since people have reported this happening on sense roms also. But for the op I like OMJs Rom, it's very customizable and smooth.

I am sure you could achieve the same results with just a kernel as it seems the processor is getting clocked at 1.7 ghz and then getting stuck, so any kernel that messes with over clocking this could happen. But this is also being reported by people running stock kernels with CM or AKOP.

Just tried 10.2 and swipe wasnt working, and my data speeds were extremely slow.
ROMs are just like pokeballs, you gotta flash 'em all man!
That's how you find the best ROM for you. Trial and error, like we've all done before.
Otherwise we get into a whole giant "who's ROM is better" debate, and nobody wants that.
Who knows? Maybe you learn enough and one day someone opens a thread asking "which ROM is best" and before I get a chance to close it someone boldly declares that YOURS is the best.

Guys,
I tried the AOKP Schizoid rom, which has too many controls within and a odd setup for screen based buttons, and then i tried the unofficial CM10 preview which has issues of its own. I am still running the ICS rom that came out, with no camera working.
What is the best rom to flash via CWM.
Thanks !
If you want an AOSP based ROM you can grab the slim ROM from my CM10AOKP thread.

There is a camera fix you can flash for CM9. Its in the development forum.
What I will never understand is how CM ROMs always come out with broken cameras, yet someone else always manages to make a camera fix. Its almost like the folks at CM hate cameras, and maybe even break them on purpose.

Thanks ! I did load it up, but the AOSP keyboard kept on crashing, along with no buttons for settings.....is that normal for your ROM ?
LMK ! Thanks !
slim rom is experimental and a work in progress at the moment.

HI guys i just got my nexus and i downloaded the toolkit.
I want to know what is the best rom to flash and a link to how would be appreciated?
I would like one that dosen't interfere with OTA updates as well
Thank you all very much
I would recommend Paranoid Android 3+. Link is in my signature. Even if you dont update it a lot, every build is very stable. Battery life is really good. It uses stock kernel with no overclocking or under clocking. Lots of customization. Check out the video in the official thread.
If you are running 4.2.1, make sure to update your baseband and boot loader when upgrading to 4.2.2.

What do you think of the miui avatar rom?

That's not an official MIUI ROM. Its based on CM with MIUI look. MIUI ROMs aren't available for N4 yet because its running 4.2.1 or 4.2.2. You have to wait until MIUI catches up with N4 firmware. Feel free to install it.
Edit: updated

Congrats on the new nexus, but as born2gethard has alluded to, "best rom" threads aren't allowed. Too many people with too many opinions. Just try them for yourself.

So I've tried every single rom on this forum for the atrix hd and I'd like to know which roms people have success achieving a gps lock on their respective roms.
So rather then look through them and find out figured you make a topic? All of the 4.1 based roms.

Well if you've tried them all and none work.. Your incorrect lol. Because joker batakang and golden rom all have working gps.

If I read the above posts correct..it just mentions ROM. No where I read about custom ROM. So I have stated my opinion.
Moreover...GPS is a know issue in custom ROMs. I'm sure a little reading will tell if GPS works.
Anyhow, thanks for stating the obvious...peace!

So if you know gps is a known issue in custom roms and hes having a issue with gps on his rom i think its safe to say hes talking about custom roms.

so, therefore, what CUSTOM roms work with gps?
Its hit and miss but for me only AOKP the ported one by codex has GPS. But first you MUST fastboot back to stock ICS. It matters.
Everything I see is in pre-release or testing. What's the most stable ROM for the Z1? Sorry I know this is a very n00b question...

I see what you're saying, but I'm not asking for the 'best' ROM. I'm asking about the most mature ROM. That's not a subjective question.
Most phones with a decent following have official CM support. For example, since CM 11 is under development, one can usually go with a stable version of CM 10, but that doesn't seem to exist for the Z1?
I went through the threads here on XDA and couldn't find a definitive answer.
I still think it's a little subjective as certain people don't know how to flash it correctly and then something appears buggy. Modified honami is a great room if you want stock based. Personally, even though beanstalk is beta, I find it extremely stable and it's cm 11 based. The only issue I had was getting Netflix to work and that's just because the Netflix app doesn't like kit Kat roms. There's a work around though.
