Xperia feat. Hatsune Miku 'SO-04E' - Sony Xperia ZR

A special edition of the Xperia A (home-market name of the Xperia ZR), limited to 39,000 units.
Going to be oversubscribed, initially (end of August) a lottery with web-form entry. Any remaining units will be bookable at shops beginning of September with delivery at end of September.
Only difference from standard Xperia A I can see is that it comes with 4.2 preinstalled (moot now since docomo started rolling out 4.2 for XA today) and a set of bluetooth earbuds with music control buttons.
Mod - please fix the thread title (SC-04E=>SO-04E)

I don't know what one that is but I'm guessing it's the mint colored anime styled one I have seen on DoCoMo website. I thought it looked pretty cool they should let rip with more anime styled phones.

I've been contemplating putting name into the lottery. Could probably flip the phone for over USD1200 pretty easily based on what the limited edition Evangelion phones went for in the past. Just need to see if the cancellation fees make it a profitable endeavor.

Bastards at Docomo have really decided to suck money out of this - only decent subsidy if you change carriers:

I have this phone myself.
You have to know that it was configured for Japan.
You will have to manually configure the phone yourself. Like I did. (I'm in France)
Else the phone works perfectly fine...

does anybody have the boot-shutdown sound?
Don't blame me, i just noob :3

but share your experience after 2 weeks or so. becouse when you get something new, its always cool ... after a while you will see that maybe its not so useful you thought.
Think it would be more useful if it wasn't for the capacitive-style buttons. With proper clickables, it could serve well as a pocketed remote control for music. As it is now, you have to pull "something" out of your pocket to swap tracks... and that "something" might just as well be your phone.
Been thinking about getting one myself, but for the purpose of swapping tracks, cyanogenmod does the trick by fiddling with volume/camera buttons.
are you realy listening musik from your phone! because i need to charge it daily and i even dont whatch movies or like that. i think this phone is just good be stylish and maybe to spend time with playing some games! ;(
This thing is very useful. I use it to check text messages when I'm in school And my phone seems to last longer cuz the screen isn't on as much

Sold my mp4 because of that phone. I don't like to carry so many devices as my friend (Milestone 2 + iPhone + iPod Touch + another mp4 player), one phone is great for me and I really listen to the music all day rly!
And I'm interested in buying LV because of the power of that small device. Music control, wristwatch, facebook, notes, reading messages...
its upto the person as to how useful you would find the item to be fair, I'm quite happy just taking my phone out of my pocket and using it that way... lol but its each to their own preference. Sony released a watch based phone product before i think, and that never really "took off"

My only dabble with Windows Phone showed me that it was a very nice and slick UI that I really enjoyed using, but I had to have it plugged into my PC and run iTunes Zune to do anything with it.
It was locked and wouldn't accept 3rd party installations (but I expect that's not a problem to anyone that's heard of the search function), and was just unfriendly.
There's plenty of Android and Windows Phone fanboys about. You'll get arguments for both. The best bet is to have a play with lots of different phones and take into account the hardware as well as the OS. Just spend a day in a shop and bug the hell out of the assistants. That's what they're there for.

Sound recorder in stock rom?

Just tried to use the sound recorder shipped with stock rom, only to.. not find it.. Hehe..
Unless I am suffering from early senility or something I remember quite loud and clear this app being on first One, replaced a week ago because of recessed power button.
Can anyone please clear this out for me, I am with Telus, 1.29.661.5
On the other hand there was also some music, maybe 5 songs, completely missing from 2nd device, I know the seller did unwrap and opened the box before my eyes, could it be he was a professional trickster?

There was a standalone app, called sound recorder or something between these lines.
Anyway, not a big deal, already installed a sound recorder app from market, it's mostly about confirming - or not - the seller's mischief, where he made me believe the device was new from box...

Change from S4 to One is it worth to loose some money

Hey guys. I got an S4 from my job. And today I saw the ONE in a shop and I got to use it a bit. I liked a lot. But if I'm going to change it I'll be losing some money. And I'm a bit worried of HTC future also.
I've got bees in my stomach.
Any honest thoughts from you who has tried both of the phones.

I prefer the one. I work at a store and I sell both but for me the One is better.
I prefer the ui and find it smoother. Especially with Trickdroid. That Rom is beast. Actually development in general is awesome so I am not leaving anytime soon.

its not worth losing money over changing imho. the only s4 flaw that worries is me is potential burn in if you are heavy user in bright environments. Check the s3 screens on demo at your local store. nasty burn in on them...
The one all the way man. The s4 may have a bunch of cool features but how many of them do you use? And just look at it... It's freaking beautiful compared to the plastic crap...

Its tricky but if possible spend a little time with One. Not just couple of minutes but little more than that.
There are niggles with even One. Those who own the device will most of the times give you biased opinions. As owner of both, I would not feel it will be sound advice to tell someone to ditch S4 in favour of One and on top of that lose money in the process.
Rather than make another long post about it, I will link to my previous post in locked thread. That thread had to be cleaned because fanboys on both sides just made it ugly in there. And in the end mod had to delete all but OP and my post
Anyway here is the link to it : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41699179&postcount=2
Think twice before making a move. One is beautiful device, but S4 is equally good(not in terms of looks) and probably more functional with more traditional way of doing things which are universal to most android handsets. One takes completely different path.
Development for both phones wont be an issue. S4 and One both have great development work going on for it.

Not true apart from quick toggles its missing nothing from traditional Android...there is virtually no roms on s4 all the top developers have the one that should tell u something...the interface on Samsung touch wiz is horrible ..sorry imo the interface just ruins that phone for me

This is what I am talking about. Blind one sided view of things. Nothing on One works like stock android by default unless you change the Sense 5 launcher with something else. Not even simple wallpaper changing or creating shortcuts and dragging tray icon apps etc. Even these basic things are done differently. HTC specifically have gone their own way about almost everything with One. Some people love it, some hate it. I dont like it.
And development will not be an issue. S4 has been out for less than a month. One had shortages but it was in hands of lot of developers early.
S4 already had Omega and Wanam ROMs, two top recognised developers for Samsung phones. More will jump in eventually. It is just matter of time.
TWUI is more functional than Sense 5. It may not look as elegant as our sense to look at, but it works just fine. It might have colour scheme that represents brazilian rainforest, but it is functional and most actions work like stock android. So even if someone is coming from likes of Nexus 4 or older Samsung phones or even any old ICS or JB and even gingerbread, they will feel right at home.
S4 may not be as good looking, as well built phone as One, but it is no slouch. Definitely not something that is worth less than One or something you need to throw out to get One and lose money in process.
It has its share of problems just like we have our own share of problems with One. And that is something lot of people here wont accept (that One really does have issues ).
I still use One as my primary phone, that does not mean I am ready to tell someone to ditch his perfectly fine S4 to get One.

Is this another fan boy post?
I like One, but I would not pay $100 to switch. Both are the best phone available. I believe S4 is more functional in certain area too. But I really can't take the Brazilian rainforest colour scheme which has no style at all, it's just trying to target all kind of audience including 15 years kid. I like the Sense style, it's elegant and classy, undeniable best speakers, best low night camera, etc...

Disable the gimmick apps, those are for marketing. Use the phone instead.
Thanks a lot guys for your honest thoughts. From what I read. I'm guessing its smart to stick with my S4 for a little while still. It's plasticiy and it has a bit of lag time after time. Hope it will get better. And than maby I'll wait until next spring. I only used Htc for a long time maby it's ok with a bit of change for some months.

The One is only okay.
I've extensively used both the One Dev. Ed. and the GS4 and you're not missing out on anything. I am currently using the One and trying out various launchers. IMHO the GS4 had a better phone, calendar, email app, and I really miss 4.2.2. Don't be fooled by the unlocked bootloader: I've literally installed every custom ROM on the One. The difference between the screens is negligible, yet the autobrightness of the One is more functional and CM 10.1 has excellent autobrightness (unfortunately, the screen would go black every time I made a phone call. I like Blinkfeed, but am disappointed by Sense. The GS4 and the One are my first Android phones and I would readily choose the GS4. I have every intention to sell my One and buy the 32gb GS4.
Disable the s4 gimmick features and the phone will speed up

As big dee and darkraven said,it's the best phone ever made with a sleek and stylish aluminium body which makes it body more durable than the S4 and xperia z.
It runs on 4.3 and will be recieving an update in Early 2014(in february,i think)
It has a 1.7 ghz krait 300 quadcore processor (the 4g lte only has a 1.5ghz dualcore) along with 2gb of ram.So performance is supossed to be surprising.the super LCD3 4.7 inches screen has a resolution of
1080 x 1920 pixels(~469 ppi pixel
density) which makes blurry shots look fantastic

Also new to HTC One
Introducing myself. I'm also new to the HTC One. Previously had an HTC Evo Design 4G. I'm finding a few things which disappoint me.
1. That home screen. I don't want that feed thing on it, but it is apparently part of the OS. The only way I've found to not see it is to designate one of the other screens as my home screen. I can't actually get rid of it.
2. I just discovered that the HTC Hub soundsets aren't on this phone, and I don't find a way to go to the Hub to get them. I went over to the Evo forum here and downloaded them. I'll hook my phone up to the computer and put them in the appropriate folders.
3. Regarding the sounds, it doesn't appear that I can have different notification sounds for different messages. On the Evo, I had one sound for email, another for text messages, a third for calendar notifications, and a fourth for other notifications. I could tell by the sound if it was something I should look at immediately (text messages), something which could wait (emails), or someplace I was supposed to be (calendar notifications). So unless I there's somewhere in each individual app to customize the sounds, I'll have to either look at everything that comes in or ignore them all until I have time to go through them.
If any of you have any input on how to get the phone to do what I want (i.e. go to HTC Hub for stuff or set up individual notification sounds), let me know. I haven't finished exploring my new phone, so it might give me some pleasant surprises sometime soon.

Hello ,
1. There are a couple custom roms that disable blinkfeed, TranquilOne is one of those roms, or use a different launcher like Apex,Nova, ect.
2. I don't use MyHub so I can't comment on that
3. I'm pretty sure notifications can be separated with different sounds...or maybe just on custom roms. You may have to go into setting of each app and set the sound you want

I'll take a look at TranquilOne.
Back on the Evo, I could select a Sound Scheme and a set of sounds would be applied to several different types of notifications. On the ONE, I had to individually apply each sound to each type of notification. Doable, but a PITA after being used to the Sound Schemes on the Evo.
