Hello All,
My Problem is a high battery drain, not caused by baseband_xmm_power wakelock, but by the processes "Phone", "Messaging Storage" and "SIM Toolkit". My device gets very hot although I do not even use it and the CPU runs constantly at 475 MHz. I got this issues on every custom ROM / Kernel combination. This Problem appears at random time intervals. Sometimes after 2 days, sometimes 5 times a day and sometimes it disappears after rebooting.
I also have tried to freeze that 3 processes with greenify, but no success
Right now I am running SlimBeam 7.8 with iodak Kernel (because with this combination I dont get these baseband wakelocks)
Is there anybody with the same issue or with some tips for me?
I have found the solution, switch off your phone for maybe 10 minutes. The RILD problem will persist across phone reboots (hard reboot and even xposed soft reboot).
I had the same problem on S3 and just couldn't figure out why and how to fix until I got the clue from the forum link below

Hi all,
I'm currently running AOKP milestones 6 with the Devil Kernel, and everytime I activate the DeepIdle option with NSTools or with the Devil Kernel manager app I get Bsods.
It's not specific to AOKP rom because I had the same problem when I was running CyanogenMod 7. I tried to use Glitch Kernel or Semaphore Kernel but it's everytime the same thing : I get one Bsod after a few hours, and after they come every 10min or so. If I pull off the battery or keep pressing the power button the phone reboots normally but until I deactivate the Idle option I have always this same problem.
I tried using smartass V2 governor or modifying the voltages, doing fresh installs but I can't solve this problem. I also used the BT killer script to see if it changes anything but it didn't solve my problem.
Could it be my phone or am I doing something wrong?
I'd say its probably just the DeepIdle. I do remember reading that DeepIdle support is kinda... weird. In my own experience I've had trouble getting it to work. Had SoD's only a couple of times but actual DeepIdle state won't be used much. It has improved a lot from the Cyanogenmod7 days though.
Is the phone very hot on such an event?
I'd say just don't use DeepIdle if you've had such a long history of problems with it.
I put devil Idle option permanent and I didn't have Sods since this morning, maybe you're right and the Deep idle doesn't work. It's quite sad because it seemed awesome on the paper
And about your question the phone doesn't get hot when this happens, it just stop responding but I have no memories that this happened when I was using the phone only when the screen was off. I'm not sure if it's important but it happened when the phone wasn't used for some minutes or if quickly press power button multiple times.
How did you managed to get it working?
I have a really strange problem on my Note.
Whenever I open the browser and open two tabs (eg. Facebook and GSMArena), the screen starts flickering (this flickering also happens in normal usage when battery is at 1%). Along with the flickering, the network connectivity, both cellular and 2G is lost. After about 10 seconds of flickering, the phone turns off. On manually restarting, the battery level is at 1% (from whatever current %). However, on keeping the phone idle, it gains charge automatically.
Except this issue, the phone works perfectly on 2G data with background data on and all apps working properly. It is just the browser that triggers this issue.
I have tried
- different ROMs (Stock GB, stock ICS, RocketMIUI)
- different kernels (Stock GB, Stock ICS, Philz kernel, HydraCore) and
- different modems (LC1 and LR9)
and yet the issue remains.
Please help!
at <5% of battery power, the flickering happens and the phone turns off.. & this is happening to you at any battery % which is very unusual. have you tried a different battery on your note
Yeah. I know it happens on low battery. But yes, I have had drops from 68% and 46% to 1% because of the automatic shut down
u should definitely try a diff battery
My battery has bulged and spins freely on glass.. So I think it is a battery problem.
But Entropy has suggested something here in the i777 thread. Will this be of any help here? Here's the link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1428989
interesting thread but if u see a battery damage.. then i suggest atleast try a new one before u start entering into coding
Hi guys!
I've been experiencing some SoD (Sleep of Death) episodes about 3 weeks ago. I've been searching for a solution ever since.
Specifications:
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S i9000;
ROM: currently stock 2.3.4 - I9000XXJWQ
Problem:
-phone keeps shutting down by itself, regardless of what I'm doing. Sometimes, when I reboot, the battery level shows 4-14%. After a second reboot, the battery shows the normal level of 60-70% (the level that was shown when the shut down occur)
-drastic drops on battery levels (screenshot attached - I've been experiencing some more drastic drops than that)
Tried, but no results:
1. I tried other ROMs (6 of them), from JB to KK (Cyanogen McKay SlimBin etc. found on xda) +wipes
2. I tried other battery - still my phone shuts down itself
3. Flash stock kernel and ROM with Odin
4. Battery recalibration didn't work either- I don't know if I made it correct. Read here a post about it and I understand that wiping batterystats.bin dose nothing but clearing the history of the battery consumption. Also, I think that flashing stock ROM took care of wiping that file so no need for calibration (correct me if I'm wrong please). Also, I think trying another battery excluded the possibility of a faulty one.
5. Checked the connection between the phone and the battery. Also I've wrapped the battery in a paper to make sure it didn't move. The phone shutting down even when it stud still on the desk made me think it was not the problem.
6. Wi-Fi setting about sleep: From "Never" to "When screen of"
Q: What do I do next?
My phone is only about 3 weeks old now, but after a day or 2 of normal, heavy usage it starts to lag. A reboot always seems to clear up the problem and it runs super fast for the day and then all of a sudden it starts lagging again. It's most notable when I lock the phone and then try to unlock it again within a minute. It just hangs there and won't respond for up to 30 secs or so. It's really frustrating if I get a phone call and try to answer it.
It seems to me that there is something that's running in the background that is eating up resources, but I can't seem to tell what it is. I'm currently running Google Now Launcher, but I've seen the problem with stock TouchWiz as well. Is this a common problem and anyone have a solution for it. I love the phone with this one exception.
Thanks
I'd also like to add that when I go into battery usage, "Android System" seems to be very high. Any ideas what is causing Android System to be my highest battery drain?
I m really sick of this update
I have this issue of severe battery drain by two main culprits at Number one it's MEDIA
and number two is ANDROID SYSTEM. I have already cleared cache using recovery and cleared data in settings. Have checked most of my pics and videos. My battery won't last more then 4 hrs. I have disabled most of the bloat apps and quite a bit of Samsung apps. Sync is @ manual
Android system cpu usage after a whole day typically is around 6 hrs
Media cpu usage usually is around 5.30hrs
Searched through the net and found no real fix for the battery drain
P.S - I DID THE FACTORY DATA RESET 1 2 TIMES.
Please help
Update : When ever I manually kill media app and disable it for a while and then re enable it.. Everything works fine for some time.
Battery drain is somewhat gone.. As I have deleted most of the .MP3 files but I m still facing the issue of random restarts and freezing. I have used many softwares to know the reason for random restarts and freeze but no success.
Any suggestions??
Update : Media is somewhat tamed but I have developed weird issue of random 5 - 10 sec freeze. Whatever taps I make during the time the fone is frozen it remains unresponsive but after a few seconds it responds to all the tap commands but after 10 seconds.
Some times I have to put phone in standby mode to sort the problem .
But after that initial problem it is perfectly normal and responsive.
How do I fix this issue
Ps- I have cleared cache several times.
