Stock ROM for Galaxy Note - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XDA'ers!
As you may have seen my previous thread (I am suffering from the No Sim error) I have successfully managed to learn how to root my phone but the Titanium Backup Pro app failed in helping my phone recognise my SIM again.
My next option is to install the Gingerbread (Original ROM) and from there upgrade back to Jelly Bean and see if this fixes my issue - a lot of people have said that this works for them.
My phone is from Carphone Warehouse so could someone point me to the right direction please? My baseband version ends in "LT9". :fingers-crossed:

Look in Dr. K's thread in stickies of original development, it's listed there. Cpw is the code for car phone warehouse.

Thank you very much!
My phone still cannot recognise my SIM so I was wondering if the thing from this thread is what I need?
I downloaded the LT3 which matches my phone, but can this damage my phone in any way? Where can I find instructions to flash a radio rom?

You could try a new modem, but most gb roms were 3 part roms which included modem, and some later roms included modem upgrades also.

tablet won't start after installing custom rom

Hi, I have a rooted galaxy tab. I recently just installed a custom rom and after, it doesn't boot anymore? It only stucks at the boot screen. May I know what's the issue here? Is it a brick or something? Any helps appreciated. Tks!
it sounds like a soft brick, which isn't too bad at all Just switch your tab over to Download Mode and then flash another ROM that is confirmed working on your device.
A hard brick would be if your tab didn't power on in any way at all no matter what, and that would be pretty bad :/
Hi, tks for ur reply! Do u mind telling me where to download those roms? Tks once again!

Hi! I managed to get my rom on samfirmware.com and even flashed it via odin. But one thing, it managed to go the boot screen but then it doesn't move at the "samsung" glowing screen after that. Did I do anything wrong?
Your best bet will be to restock according to Overcome method.

You may have a corrupted /dbdata. If that's true, no matter how many new ROMs or firmwares you install, it won't help you.
This should take care of your problem:

Hi! Tks for your advice. I just read through the restocking steps on the teamovercome.net. But I've got a question. Is it compulsory to actually install the overcome kernel and rom?

I installed overcome kernel with many other rom before moving to redpill (because of bluetooth keyboard compatibility). It works great with most of rom 2.3.3 and 2.3.6 base. Don't hesitate to try the kernel with other rom.
Btw, did you try pushing new pit file through odin?

[Q] Upgrading to ICS Rom Question

After my fiasco with a bootleg http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1742680, (thanks to everyone for your help in telling me I was "less then smart." ) I now have a genuine N7000. It currently is running Gingerbread, and I would like to flash it to ICS. I am not using it with a provider right now, so the "Software Update" in the "About Phone" section will not work. The question I have, is which ROM should I use. In the "About Phone" section, it states I am running Baseband N7000XXLA4. Any suggestions? Please let me know if you need any more information. Thank you all for your time!
if you want to do an upgrade to ICS with a gingerbread rom you have not any issue.if you want to look the upgrades go here: www.samfirmware.com

Thank you for the reply. I have gone to that site, and it gives me a wealth of ROMS to choose from, and I am a little confused. The question is, which ROM do I choose for my phone? Sorry if I seem a little dense!

If you want ICS look for android 4.03 and choose what country you want but any country will do. WARNING. If running on ics dont do a factory reset, recovery data wife, and nandroid ( back up &restore). If you want to be safe remained in gingerbread.
Check out dr ketans thread in the stickies of rom development section. It lists all the roms by region both for ics and gb. You can just select Tue newest one for your region.
There's also further information on rooting, but perhaps leave that for later.

Thanks for the reply! Currently my phone is unlocked running Gingerbread, if I update to ICS, will I have to unlock the phone? I bought an unlocked phone because I travel all over the world and got tired of having to get used to a new phone every time I am in a new country. I usually stay 2 months at a time, and it is easier and cheaper to use a carrier in country than using my cell phone from home.
Thanks for all the help and information!

Flashing won't affect unlock. Just make sure you upgrade to correct region and all connection settings and everything will be exactly the same.
If upgrading to ics, read the sticky about the superbrick bug also, basically don't perform any wipes on stock ics roms, danger of brick.

To make sure I understand, since I will be spending most of my time in Asia, I should choose a ROM from there? Will those ROM's work if I go to a trip to the US as well? I am sorry for all the questions, but I just want to have as much information as possible before I pull the trigger and update to ICS. Thank you for your patients and help.

If you're only visiting Asia and have a us sim, or swap out for an Asian sim just for the trip, then stick with a us code rom. Also, if you flash a different region it will perform a full wipe of the device which is dangerous on current stock ics roms, so it probably safest to check your current code and flash the same.
We all start somewhere, I found android flashing quite complicated at first but it starts to make sense quite quickly. Hope it helps. Do ask if you need further help flashing.

Thank for the reply. I have flashed Android before, but never on a phone. It have always been on a Tablet. My final question, should I stay with a ROM from the same region that my phone is right now? Also, how do I find out what region it is currently from without having a simcard in it? I will be putting a sim card into it once I get to Japan in a couple of weeks. Thanks for all the information. I greatly appreciate all the help!
Yes, I would stick to your current csc. Dial in the following on the phone dialler:
*272*emeicode*# where imei code is obtainable via *#06# in dialer

H+ lost in Paranoid flash

Hey guys just a quick one,
Coming from Aussie stock, moved to paranoid Android and love it. However, I've lost H+ connectivity.
I had a read through the paranoid qanda and couldn't find anything... is it a matter of flashing a compatible modem in ODIN? Do I have to find an ICS modem or will GB do?
Plus, will it be the same solution for all roms?

Change your modem. No difference between an ICS or GB modem. You can do it either using ODIN or CWM. You can get the modem from http://galaxynote.rgreat.ru/Modems/.
Geoux, youre a good man. Ill give it a bash, it can be done in CWM correct?
Thanks mate
Edit: Actually, do you know where Id find the modem that I should be using? I checked out ketans list, but it doesnt list modem.. It lists CDC and PDA

[Q] Help to update firmware for my gt-p1000

Hello, I have been reading for a long time now on threads all over this forum and there is simply too much for me to take in. So I thought maybe I could ask for help and one of you clever people could help me.
I would like to update the firmware on my tesco samsung tab gt-p1000 wifi and 3g to anything 4.+ oh and suitable for the uk. I'd like to still be able to make calls, use gps text and wifi general stuff. If some one in the know could suggest all the downloads I would need and point me towards a guide that suits those I would be very greatfull. p.s I think the tablet has been messed about with before as it has no serial number but I don't know.
Please don't just post ''read this thread'' I'm asking for some one how knows this information and just say ''use the modem LINK, this rom LINK, this software LINK and follow this guide LINK or similar.
From my research there are other people looking for the same build. If there is already one out there. link me up please.
I maybe looking for a complete odin build !
currently firmware is 2.2, baseband version 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1 , FROYO.XWJJ3
There won't be an odin build of any custom rom for p1000

Thanks for letting me know that.
So how will I do it?
You can follow my signature to overcome method.
Your have froyo, so you must root your ROM to enable you to check if you have protected bootloader.
And if you do, then to patch it.
Gingerbread doesn't have such issue.
But all that is in overcome PDF guide.
Once you have overcome kernel, it gave you cwm recovery.
With that you flash custom ROM.
