I know it already has capacitive buttons so don't tell me the obvious, I'd just like to try out some on screen buttons and see how I like them. BUT my question is, is there anyway to actually do this on an HTC One? I've tried Softkey Enabler (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fatedevgroup.softkeyenabler&hl=en) and I can't get it to work. Is there a simple way to go into the Build.prop (I've been using ES File Explorer) and change a 0 to a 1 or a false to a true? I haven't been able to find anything online so far, so I finally decided to come here and ask you guys. Thanks in advance~

does anyone know if this can be done? it sometimes pops up when i can enter text, and i always use the hardware keyboard, so i dont need the soft one. can you disable it in the registry?
never mind, i found a way of doing it. for those who want to know its like this:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip\AllowChange=1
Change the above value to AllowChange=0
Actually, this reg key seems to disable the soft keyboard altogether! (the icon is still there but tapping on it does not bring the kbd anymore). I'd like to have a way to have the soft kbd not show up automatically, but still work when I want to bring it up manually. Anyone?
I think you want one of these...
http://www.pdagold.com/software/detail.asp?s=155
This gives you an alternate soft-keyboard, which has no keys. So, select this one and there is nothing to pop up.
Be aware that this version is free, but there are later versions from the same author which have more features (just what you don't want) and you have to pay for.
I have not tried this on WM6, but it worked fine on earlier versions.
Actually forget that...
I just tried it on WM6, and although it does what it is supposed to do, it was impossible to then return to a normal soft-keyboard, so I had to uninstall and reset.
Oh well...
Well i disabled the touchflo3d interface(dont ask me why...i just felt like doing it but i dont know why... just felt it...) so i did it....and now i have one major problem and that is i have 2 virtual buttons on my diamond they are calendar and contacts....i would like to replace the virtual button calendar with phone.....is it possible....???...i know that one hardware button is assigned to phone ..but i really want to assign screen rotate feature to that button!!!!
What Da!!!
woah!! no one there can help me..???? OMG am i stuck with the stupid calender button?!?!
It's done like this:
Klick
didn't try, but should be working!
If you don't like editing the registry here's a program to change te buttons:
Klick
Thank you
Thank you very much you made my day....thank you....thank you...thank you.....
one more thing...!!!
thanq chef...but i have one more question... how can i change the colour of the text on the home screen.....????i googled it and couldnt find anthing except negative answers....well i would be prefering a registry hack instead of a program...lets keep the Diamond clean shall we!!
Sry, don't know how it's done. it hast already been discussed here on Xda, but they found no real solution ( except UI Tweak, which didn't work really).
Edit:
Hah! found something else:
It can be done (probably^^) with Advanced Configuration Tool v3.3, which would be the solution using a tool.
But you say you prefer registry, so i've found this.
(the second part of the text)
I'm not sure for which winmo version it was written, but it sounds like a solution. let me know if it works!
Greez
okay...
well i looked at the registry thing and it didnt work out.....can anyone tell me how to use advanced config to change font colour....cuz i cant seem to find it...by the way chef thanks for the effort..
is it possible to customize the htc keyboard ?
I like it a lot but I keep pressing the "settings" button.
Maybe it would be better to activate it with a long-press.
Then it would be useful to activate word predictions in all form you want to, not just where it detects a text-form.
is it possible some way ?
thanks
it certnainly is possible and you don't even need root. i know because i downloaded a custom keyboard from the Market named SerbianIME (i needed ščž characters).
thanks for the reply, but since I don't know how to do it I was asking here
thanks
The stock AT&T rom does this and I was hoping someone would know how to enable this feature on a cooked rom. I always end up putting my device in sleep when im typing anything. Ive looked through the registry to try and find where i could change it with no success. Searching also didnt seem to yeild anything relevant then again that may have just been due to the keywords i used. Anyone know how to do this?
Thanks
I would also love to know how to do that. It is really annoying when UI'm in the middle of texting and I hit the power button by accident.
I have seen a cab floating around here somewhere just after the tp2 was released, you should be able to find it with the search
i tried searching first but was unsuccessful at even finding anything related to what i was looking for. Not even someone asking about it. i guess i will have to think of some other keywords than landscape and powerbutton. any suggestions? i know its possible and its probably just a registry key
it's a good idea. Me also find that when writing to Querty keyboard presses power button. Could this feature be added to the energy rom.
well it could be added to any rom, but i wouldnt imagine NRG adding it by default. It could be rather bothersome to some people. I wouldnt be surprised if he added it to the addon folder for his roms if a few people requested it and sent him the cab to host. Then all you gotta do is put it your UC folder and it would be auto installed anyways. Anyone know if the keyboard mapper program handles the power button and could do this? id rather see a cab then using a whole app but at this point i will settle for anything i can get. mabye i will try it when i get off work
dang you really gotta choose the right keywords to get anything. long story short, found a thread with a link to another thread that had the cab. And it works great! better than i had hoped. disables the short press and you can hold the power button to bring up slide to shut down which has a sleep option. but if ur in landscape u have to hold the power button to get it to come back on. there are multiple profiles thats just the one that works best for me. give it a try:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=546094
find the program:
hAndy Power button
It's a tiny little CAB that does 1 thing.... disables the button when keyboard is open
works great.
ok im having calibration issues when holding my phone in landscape mode. ive dug around and found the calibration file for the accelerometer and other sensors. it will let me change it but it wont let me save it. also if you view it in root explorer text editor it wont show. but if you view it in es file, root browser, or root explorer text viewer it shows as -2 0 0 0. and coincidentally its off by about 2 degrees. the file path is sys>devices>virtual>sensors>accelerometer_sensor>c alibration. it just wont allow me to save the file. any ideas? ive noticed that when i hold the device perfectly level in landscape mode for many many different apps it drifts off to the left. all apps do the same thing. ive put a level on it to be sure lol. ive tested on a brand new tab 4( i think) and its spot on. ive had tmobile send me 2 replacement devices and they both do the same exact thing. i cant imagine it being a hardware issue on all 3. from different batches. im at my wits end.
i understand this may belong in the Q&A section but from what ive been told its not possible to edit this file? is that true? i was told to reach out to devs and see if i cant find anything. i was also told that it was the apps, which its not. any ideas are greatly appreciated.
p.s.-tmo advised that 5.0 should fix the problem....(if thats the case i wish theyd hurry that **** up)
