[Q] Use this phone without SIM card? - Motorola Atrix HD

Is it possible to use this phone without a SIM card, like a wifi only device? There is not doubt that i will change phones eventually and i do not just want to leave it in my drawer and by the time i change my phone the value of my ahd will probably not be worth selling

Yes you can use it without a Sim card to surf the web, download apps, listen to music. Only thing a Sim card does is let's you make calls and text.

Yeah you could even make text and calls through apps that use the Internet to do such things.

So you can just take the SIM card out and that's it?

[Q] Portability of 4g sim card

I have a 4g xoom and I want to know if the sim card from the bionic can be moved to the xoom to enable service. Will it also enable 3g service on the xoom or is it just for 4g? I am a current ATT customer and am used to being able to swap sims into other devices.

My 4g sim from my Thunderbolt works in my Bionic so I assume it would work in the xoom. I would guess it needs to be Verizon to Verizon.
I have a wifi xoom, will any sim cards work with this thing?
There isn't a sim card slot in a wifi xoom, so it wouldn't work.

From what I understand, i'm an indirect agent, the sim card would work as long as the correct plan was select for it. Going from a smartphone to a 4g modem, hotspot, or tab or vice versa would require a rate plan change on the corresponding mobile #. Otherwise you could incure incorrect data, voice, and text charges.
Phone to phone is fine and swaping between tabs, modems, hotspots work fine.
Hope this helps.

LG rev cdma

is it possible to run this phone in cdma with out Simcard ? if so please tell me how
thank you
Why would you want to? Verizon literally gives SIM cards out for free.
I do not believe you can though because even when I had it on just CDMA mode it still required a SIM card and it kept giving me the card error in my status bar.

Droid 3 SIM

I'll be getting a Droid 3 soon, but I won't be using it as a phone, I'm just replacing my IPod. but I was curious, will I need a sim card for what I want to do? all I'll be doing is using emulators, the web browser, and I want amazon mp3. I have absolutely no intention of using 3g ever, More than likley I'll also be rooting it also
Don't need a sim card, it will work fine without

For just wifi nope. You could root it, get the 883 radio and unlock the SIM and get the 5GB or 200 free MB plan from T-Mobile and take data with you.

Switching phones on Verizon website

I have a gnex with unlimited data, and just bought a Dev edition and I want to keep my unlimited data. So if I use verizons website and go to activate or switch device, will I be able to keep my unlimited data?
I just don't want to f*ck up when I use the website
Has anyone used the website to do this, and did it work?

If you're just switching devices you should be able to do it without losing your data plan. I did it many times when I was using VZW. However, you shouldn't need the web site if your phones are LTE. Just move the SIM to the new phone.

GNex uses Micro Sim while Moto X uses nano, so OP needs to cut the micro Sim or go get a nano Sim.

When i ordered the phone it said sim card included
I don't want to cut the card in case the Moto x ever breaks or whatever, so I can have a backup phone
So I guess I'll give the website a try

Website works fine, or just go into Verizon and tell them you want to change your phone. Did it at a store when I purchased my old Gnex off someone.
I switched mine on the Verizon website in about 2 minutes. You will need to use the SIM tool so you can pop your new nano-SIM out of your phone and read the number off it.
Unlimited data stays.

cannot export contacts from phone to verizon 4G LTE sim card

for some reason whenever i try to export contacts from my phone to my nano sim card i get this error
I tried it with a different providers sim card and all of my contacts were successfully transfered onto the SIM card absolutely no trouble.

It doesn't here either.
I'm guessing something regarding how Verizon has setup the Sim on this phone does it.
It works on my wife's Note 4.
Don't get me wrong syncing Google contacts works fine not sure why you would use anything else but I still like the idea of having them on my sim card.
Anyone have any luck?
Verizon Sims aren't set up like that...they r designed totally different
