Hi,
i am using a HTC One with "Android Revolution HD 12.2" and i love to launch apps via the internal google now search function.
After i activated the specific setting in the search settings it works. I can search for apps and they where found. After reentering google search a second time no apps where found...
After reenabling (the still enabled setting) they are found again and so on....
Somebody an idea for that?
I am not new with Android and rooting and flashing but i have not posted something here in the past so i am not allowed to post this question in the dev thread where i thought i would belong...
Thanks, Jens

I rooted my NOOKColor a couple of days ago using Auto-nooter 3.0 and everything went fine. I was able to start up Google Talk, browse the Android Marketplace and download a few apps, sync with my Gmail account, and basically do everything I tried.
Somewhere along the way, I lost the ability to start up Google Talk. Along with that whenever I try to download an app from the Marketplace, the screen says "Starting Download" but the download never starts. I searched the mobileread forums, the Android forums, and the messages posted here looking for a solution. It appears that the root of the problem is the inability to start Google Talk which somehow prevents the downloading of apps from the Marketplace.
Does anyone know how to get Google Talk working again ?? I know that I can just "un-root" the NC and start from scratch but that seems like a bit of overkill - sorta like breaking an egg with a sledgehammer!!
Any help or suggestions on how to get both Google Talk and Marketplace downloading again would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks . . .
So, I've rooted my HD 8.9 and installed the Google Apps I'm interested in running i.e. Play store, gallery, voice search etc. I installed the framework and such in the system/app folder. I also replaced the calendarprovider.apk with the Google version, it will allow for my shared calendars in my Google account to sync propery in the native Kindle calendar app, mostly cause I hate the low res icons in the Google Apps (I've not been able to swap the Google Calendar icon and get the app to install). Anyway, today I attempted to install super box pro and accuwether from the Amazon app store and they failed. They will download, but once they start installation they fail and show a red exclamation point on the app icon. I've been able to install other apps, allrecipes, Documents to go, the dark Knight rises and a couple others. Any thoughts?
One thing, after installing the Google apps and necessary files, I unrooted and did a factory reset. I don't need a rundown of the reasons to leave it rooted. I'm content without having root. Plus, after rooting I loose my Amazon books. No point in having g the kindle if I can't use it for its original, intended purpose.
Thanks, in advance, for any productive suggestions.
Happy New Year,
Ray

One quick addition bit of info. The popup that I get says that "application storage space is running low". Does this make sense?

After rooting, did you re-register you KFHD 8.9 with Amazon? Or after un-rooting, for that matter. If I remember correctly, I had to re-register with Amazon after rooting to sync with Amazon services.
Sure did. After posting I decided to factory reset again and, for the time being, I'm having no problems getting apps. I haven't installed any of my molded apps with 256 icons though. That shouldn't make a difference but seems the only variable I can think of.

No Problem, as I'll move the thread.

Thank you. It seemed to me, without a specific place for 8.9 questions the 8.9 development section was the most logical place to post. No biggie just seems that a place for 8.9 questions and such would be handy. I understand the two devices are similar but they do have differences from a root and development standpoint.
Thanks

On that note -can we get a Q&A Thread for the KFHD 8.9" ? It gets rather confusing have 4 different devices all in the KFHD 7" Q&A Thread.

Have you updated to 8.3.1 yet? I just did so and the CalendarProvider.apk I was using previously no longer works.
Like you, I discovered I had to replace that file in order for the Kindle to save my synced calendar settings, otherwise they'd be lost once Calendar was removed from memory by the Android OS. The CalendarProvider.apk I was successfully using under 8.3.0 came from ICS AOKP ROM and it was one of the few I found that worked properly. But now, it's not. Instead, Calendar Storage isn't showing up in the list of Installed Applications and my Google Sync Settings shows "Sync com.android.calendar" instead of just "Sync Calendar" under Google Sync Settings, and throws an error when trying to sync.
For now, I've reverted back to the system default CalendarProvider until I can find another that works. I'm fairly certain I've done everything I did the last time, and am even running the same version of all the Google Apps I was using previously. So I can't figure out why it's not working like it used to.
Are you in the same boat? Or have you not upgraded yet?

I actually have not run 8.3.1 at all. I ran 8.3.0 for about an hour just to make a backup. I've been running the sg17 CM ROM for a month or more now. I've lrarned to live without Amazon Instant Video for the time being. I've been quite pleased with CM on the kindle. In fact, with the latest Kindle app update, the book part of the tablet is virtually identical to the Amazon ROM app. Wish I could be more help to you.

Odd.. I notice these having updates, but they don't get listed in with the available updates in the "My apps" section in Google Play.
If you go to the apps individually in Google Play though, it shows an "update" button (clicking the other apps by this developer link is helpful in finding the others BTW).
This sounds familiar for some system apps, but not others (many Google apps auto-updated when I first activated the phone, even before I could get to the UI to turn off auto-updating). Anyone found a way to actually find -all- apps that have updates?

Oh man I hate the autoupdating, I always turn that off, I like to be in control of that. I don't know why that setting doesnt save when you get a new phone or wipe your device.
The updates may be rolling out in phases. I recipes those updates yesterday afternoon while I was setting g the phone up for the first time.
Restart your phone and you'll get them
Hello,
My phone (out of warrenty) was dropped in water, so had to change some hardware outside. After which I kept getting play store errors. Many apps would also throw random errors, even after doing factory reset. So I thought may be ROM too need to be flashed due to new hardware. I searched for the Stock ROM (Kitkat 4.4.4) and found one (phone shows 21.11.27.titan.retaildsds.retaildsdsall.en.03retin). I flashed it (I just had to run a file on fastboot mode - Auto Restore Script.bat). After that I havent been able to install apps through play store. It keeps popping error 495. I can install a few apps at random, but not everything. I did the whole process at least 3-4 times again, changed wifi connection etc. No luck. Any help here?
PS: I am totally a new person to all android related stuff, but ready to learn if right instructions are given. Thanks.
Hi,
I will have your thread moved to your device section.
Good luck!
yuppie, on lollipop now!
@garrittw: your response is a little too late You see, in my desperate attempts to make my phone work, I got it on Lollipop 5.0 (used the files from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...m-1-tweet-rate-thread-add-poll-titan-t2989793)
The end scene is that everything is working on my phone. But it took a lot of time to make it happen. After installing gapps, I continuously got google play services error. The same play store problem persisted too. But this time something different happened. After 2-3 attempts at downloading one app, i got it to donwload. Also updated google play services somehow. It was frustrating though as for every app download I had to try multiple times. Surprisingly amazon appstore downloads were successful. So I also used that to download the ones available there. But I am happy now that my phone works perfectly with all the apps that I need up to date . I am feeling so happy about it, as this was my first stint at android troubleshooting as a total novice
However I still think I will run into the same play store problem whenver I would try to update any app, so I think I will use your patch anyway. Thanks

Try this:
Settings > Apps > swipe until you see category "all"
Search for "Google Play Store" and clear data.
Search for "Googe Services Framework" and clear data.
Now open the play store and try to install something.
If you still get 495 go to Settings > Accounts and delete your Google account. Restart phone and add your Google account. Should be fixed.
tried everything on 495, no luck

hi all,
i bought a new s10 a couple of weeks ago and after setting up everything and installing all of my apps which come from the playstore I am randomly receiving spam whenever i unlock my phone or during the use of whichever app.
what happens is that either chrome or (after i have uninstalled chrome) the samsung browser came in front and opens some **** websites..
i hope someone can give me some advice/hint where to look at, before i have to resignate and start by scratch.
what i already tried, is to uninstall a lot of apps i could have imagined to be the culprit and i also installed things like airpush detector, hoping they could find something.
PS: sorry if posted this thread in the wrong section. did not know where to put at all.
thank you and regards

problem solved.
malware found and deleted.
I found this article...
What you have to do is… go to the Settings followed by Application Manager or Apps here you will find a list of all the installed apps in your android phone. So scroll downwards and you will find an Unnamed App with no thumbnail installed in your phone… most probably this app appears at the last of the list. Just uninstall this app and you are all set. All thing become normal and avoid installing apps from any of the unknown resources.
