[Q] some games no longer work after flashing custom rom - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Don't know if it's the android version or the Rom itself, but since flashing orio one to upgrade to 4.2.2 neither final fantasy 3 or shadowgun work for me. I backed up the apps using titanium backup and copied the data folders from android/obb to pc then back after flashing and when.I try to load the game it asks to download.data, I click yes and it fails every time.
Any ideas on what's happened? Should I try resetting then reinstalling, or what? They both worked perfectly fine on the.stock 4.1 Rom.

2.2 will not work on my Droid

I'm posting here because I don't know what else to do, my phone freezes using any froyo rom. It happens randomly and sometimes will not happen until I reboot the phone, but it makes my phone pretty much unusable. I've tried the leaked froyo rom, BB, CM 6 1&2 and countless others. I've tried wiping data / cache and formating the SD card (worked until i put my music back on), and I'm about to just try stock 2.2 and exchange it for a new one if it wont work.
Anyone else have this problem that could help me?
One thing I didn't see you do...
Have you at all root your phone to install the desired froyo rom for your phone?
Yes I am rooted, I'm currently on CM 5.0.8 and very happy but I would really like to get froyo working.
Alright. This is what I've done to get Froyo working on my Droid: I rooted my phone, downloaded BB v4 and changed the name of the file to update, installed Rom Manager on my phone(then found out I can download the roms from here as well), reboot into recovery through rom manager, wiped data & cache, selected install zip, then selected reboot phone. It took a bit to register but it converted over with BB v4.
I think I've found my problem

this sounds like my exact problem, I'm going to look through my library and see if there is a corrupt file then try again
Hopefully that is the source of the issue and that'll be solved quickly. Good luck to ya

[Q] Issues with app installation in ALL Roms?

I've installed the newest 2.2.1 GOT, and I've tried allmost all the rom's in this forum. I'm constantly faced with an issue with Titanium Backup freezing. My next step was to just install the apps all over again from the market... however, now I'm faced with some apps downloading but cannot install. i.e Angry birds, Time Mobile to name a few.
Obviously this cannot be an issue with all roms, but perhaps my phone or a botched installation... but how can it be a botched installation for ALL roms?
Can anyone provide me with some suggestions where I can solve this issue?
I'm currently using a Telus Milestone with Cyanogenmod.
Hey there, I would advise you to flash the 2.2.1 SBF once again using RSD Lite and then try, dont use the Stock 2.2.1 GOT ROM it hogs battery.... I am using Cronos 1.5.0 and it works lyk a charm......
Problem with titanium bakcup is, it also recovers data i think. You need to restore only APK if you change from different ROM. I use Google backup option, that reinstalls all apps when i log in, simple.. But you could also use MyBackupPro.
For example SMS restore with titanium backup worked fine with 2.2.1 - 2.2.1 changes in ROM, but when i cahnged to 2.1 it couse FC all the time...
Again MyBackupPro saved me, it has a backup tehnique, that is not dependant on version of SMS application.

[Q] Games FC

Until yesterday, i was running cm7 on my captivate.
Today i switched to darky 9.5.
Before I flashed darky I did a backup of all user apps+data.
After I got darky i restored missing apps+data.
Everything was fine until I realized that all my games would just force close right when I open it...
I tried to solve it by uninstalling, downloading again then restoring data only but it still force close.. I also tried reflashing...
My games do work if I just restore the app. And all my other apps are fine.
Anyone know what the problem is?
You created your backups on a Gingerbread-based ROM and restored them on a Froyo-based ROM. The saved data is probably not compatible even though the program is.
That explains it thanks.. Anyway I played so much game today to catch up.....

[Q] "Application is not installed on your phone" Error

Hi all,
I've done a search on this (both XDA-wide, and Google) and no-one seems to have a valid answer for me yet.
I am running Gingerbread (PDA = XWJVB, Phone = XXJVK, CSC = XAJVK) via a Doc's beta RomKitchen build. I am aware that I am running a beta and things can get a bit hairy, but this problem is really annoying.
Basically after the rom flash, I went and got Titanium Backup working again, and started restoring my favourite apps and widgets. All worked fine, then I had to do a reboot for some reason. All the restored apps are still in the apps folder , but greyed out and with an SD-card image overlaid to tell me they are on the SDCard. They ALL no longer work but give the "application is not installed on your phone" error, which is annoying, because before the reboot, they all worked.
I have tried twice to restore them from Titanium backup, and each time they only work until the next reboot breaks them, meaning the only apps I get to keep are the system apps and the ones I cooked into the Rom.
Anyone have any ideas?
Anyone at all?
Hi, I had a similar problem, with one difference: it started after a while. I had Doc's JVK installed, I restored my apps with Titanium Backup and it worked flawlessly for a while. At some point I noticed that the apps installed recently would disappear after a reboot. The worst thing is that even the market disappeared at some point.
To solve the problem, I flashed several times a WIPE version of Doc's rom along with several wipes from recovery. It didn't work right away and it took me several reflashes.
No problems since then.
Cheers
Thanks for that.
After much reading, I reckoned it was probably the Fugu kernel doing most of the damage, so I flashed a Chainfire XWJVB kernel, then a recooked Doc rom without the Fugu kernel. Lubberly Jubberly now

[resolved] S Memo does not work anymore

All of a sudden S Memo has stopped working. I have already tried a few things like deleting app data and cache, uninstalling the app and restoring a backup, making S Memo a user app... So far nothing has helped. I know I could reflash the rom but since I use the app very seldomly reflashing the rom seems to me like shooting with canons at birds. Any ideas? By the way, S Note and editing screenshots taken by the S Pen method works just fine.
My rom is LRQ and the kernel is PhilZ 2.5. Rooted, busybox installed, CWM too. Could it be the kernel? No it is not the kernel, I just tried cf-root to no avail.

Hi there, if you uninstall the app then restore the backup, you are essentially just replacing the same app? If there was an issue with the app then its possible that there is an issue with the backup? It may be an idea to fully uninstall the app, but rather than restore it, get an apk (its easy to find) and install the apk using a File Manager. If the system persists then it could be a problem with the Samsung Apps. If this is the case, then a reflash may be the best option.
I hope this helps. Please hit Thanks if it did.
I gave up and just reflashed the rom. There was also another issue and I came to the decision that it would be the best to simply reflash the rom. Seems like Linux based os are no better than Windows when it comes to suddenly appearing issues that can only be solved by reinstalling the os

yeah I wouldn't disagree with that. After flashing a new ROM, I tend to Fix Permissions in Advanced Recovery, it seems to resolve any potential FC issues before they occur. Glad it's sorted though.
