MTP and MAC - How to view files? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Long story short: I transferred files with ADB to the SD of my phone and recovery I see them. Once being in my file explorer, I can't see them. Where are they? How to view and easily transfer files from AOKP to my MAC? And how the heck is a noob who did not root his ONE supposed to ever transfer files? Gosh, I never expected this new phone to be that difficult..

Yes, it is. Strange thing, huh? What else to try?

Restart mac restart phone make sure that you aren't using a usb 3 port. It should just work.

There might be a popup on the phone to allow connection too. I can't remember if it does that for mtp connection or not

I'd rather recommend HTC Sync Manager for its support of files > 4GB.

Can I transfer files under linux?

Thinking about getting one of these to replace my Defy (I managed to beat up my Defy so hard I broke it -- I probably shouldn't be allowed a new smart phone :silly: ).
But I use linux. And for some reason Motorola have set it up so you need Windows software to mount it. I don't want to have to reboot my computer every time I want to transfer a file.
I'm not talking about root (I might not even bother -- but I *can* reboot into windows just to do that). I just want a phone that's compatible with my ordinary computer for ordinary file transfer. Is there a way?
Thanks,

The problem when doing this is that you can't access everything, but I may be wrong.
The best way (thanks to purplet ) is to use Airdroid or something similar if possible.
Another way is to root and re-enable the USB mass storage.
Finally, you can use ADB if you're ok with command line.
So actually, I now see that this applies to all android 4.0+ devices, and you need to get mpt installed, then all is fine. If anyone else wanted to know, here are some instructions:

this is the main problem: cant transfer file from PC to PHONE it just wont copy.. and sometimes tell me my device has been disconnected or stop working
Which os you have on your pc??
Because the mtp protocol is for windows, but if you have xp or mac you need use a program, not htc sync.
If you have linux, you have to co figure the mtp

One and Mac

Hey guys is there any way to connect my HTC one to my Mac and transfer files? I use webdroid sometimes but I am looking for a quicker solution. The HTC sync manager has the file option blanked out and Android file transfer does not register the phone is connected. Any help greatly appreciated.
I used android file transfer there is a trick to get it to work that has to do with uninstalling and re installing android file transfer. If you can't get that to work there's always airdroid although it's not as fast.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
Use Android File Transfer and enable USB Debugging in Developer Settings
Works best that way
Android file transfer is broken with the 4.3 update. It worked fine until then. Any Solutions?
HTC Sync Manager works for me. You must wait for a few seconds after connecting the phone/launching the app and when you see phone's names and amount of storage in bottom right corner of the program Files tab should be clickable.
Check that you have latest 2.4.12 version.

And make sure you have USB Debugging enabled.

Wifi Isn't Working...

So my wifi isn't working and my phone wont activate (profile update failed errorcode is COMMS_SOCKET_ERROR) I have the sprint model and I just flashed stock with this method to try to fix but to no avail. Any ideas? I saw this in the moto g forums... maybe a similar fix for the moto x? I am running 4.4.2 btw.
Oh and I don't know the history on this device. I bought it used with an unlocked bootloader and philz installed with stock

It is, most likely, /persist. Search XDA from Google. I could up mine. It is only on the phone not the XML.
Here is persist, I think it is the same for all x variants. Backup your's first, in case you have hardware issues.
Permissions rwxrwx--x

Install http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2696050&d=1397913555
go settings, general, access mode, choose root.
Save your current persist :
Press back all the way to root. Long press on persist, copy, paste to your SD.
Go download, long press on the zip file, extract, long press on xt1060persist, copy.
Paste it to your root dir. Overwrite.
Set perms: long press on persist, properties, permissions.....
Does that help?

Yeah that's what I was guessing but I was just making sure I didn't have to convert to IMG and fastboot flash. What about adding my Mac address? I don't think its a hardware problem because it can still detect signal just fine sometimes even 4g
It didn't work :/

So RSD of your proper XML ( which would have renewed yout boot.img) & this did not fix then it may be a HW failure.

I opened that zip and looked at WCNSS_qcom_wlan_nv.bin with a HEX editor.
I couldn't find a MAC address inside that file. Either I'm missing it, or its encrypted, or its not in there.
Any idea how this happened? Have you preformed any of the root or write protect exploits?
EDIT: Also checked the regulatory, calibration, and bt files. None of them appear to have a MAC address inside. Not even the bluetooth nv persist file.

Thank you for all the time you've put into it. I suspected a mac address because they talk about it in the posts I linked to in the op. I don't know the history of the device I just got it on stock with an unlocked bootloader and I again flashed it to stock with RSD to try to eliminate these problems I dont think its the hard ware because it can sense cell reception just fine. Again thank you for your time.

So, I got it working again. The problem was indeed in the persist folder, it was missing a file named WCNSS_qcom_wlan_factory_nv.bin. So I managed to extract it from the persist.img and moved it to persist folder again. After that I edited the bin file and inserted my MAC address. Finally I have flashed my phone to stock ROM again and it worked just fine.
Here's the file:

Does Philz recovery still let you choose a custom backup that includes persist?
You could, with the help of another unlocked X user, save your phone. Are you unlocked?

A mis matched boot & modem can also do the same
