Green screen of death on Nexus 4 - Nexus 4 General

It was a first time I've ever seen such a screen on Nexus 4.
I wasn't lucky to take a photo of it, but it includes some green text ("hardware error" and probably some stack trace and "lge") on black background with three choices: turn off, reboot and fastboot.
It might be a bootloader, but I serioulsy don't know. I can't reproduce it either.
My phone is OK after that, but that screen made me really interested. Did anyone get this on Nexus 4?

Yes.

im assuming that youre running faux kernel?

Did holding down the power button for 20+ seconds to force shut down and then turn the phone back on fix it?

Screen not locking

recently my screen has stopped locking when i stop using the phone. if i press the power button, it will go black and will lock. if i use the phone (call, message, anything) and just put it down, the screen dims slightly but does not go black or lock, i just have to touch the screen and it brightens. i have tried setting the screen timeout for different lengths of time, but that didn't help. any ideas?
another example is when the alarm goes off in the morning, i will snooze and have to press the power button to get the screen to go black.
thanks!
oh, i'm running a stock captivate.

Well I'm not sure how technical you are, but you may want to reflash your phone.

Screen turns on just after turning it off

So I get this with some roms and not others, but in some instances when I press the side button to turn off the screen, it turns off for a split second them turns on again without the lock screen on.
For instance after ending a call I manually turn off the screen so I can put the phone right back in my pocket, but the screen just comes back on. Why does this happen? And how can I fix it other then change the rom to one that doesn't do it. Thanks

I've never had this issue but You said it happens on some roms and not others right? Why not just Flash a rom you know that doesn't happen with?

because that's not in the spirit of modding the phone imho, you know, trying new things, working the kinks out, etc.

[Q] My screen is stuck on black ;(

Hey Team!
I've been rooting and tinkering with android phones since the HTC Dream days. Normally, most troubleshoots I can overcome on my own fairly routinely over the years. I kind of feel like I've met my match on this one and I could REALLY use you guys' help!
Here's the story:
So my phone, of course, is the T-Mobile HTC One. What I've done so far? Unlocked the Bootloader. Added a CWM custom recovery. Currently using a 1.29....16 OTA clone deodexed Rom created by Team Nocturnal. I'm using a Faux123 Kernel and have it overclocked to 1.9 GHz with all of his suggested UV settings and Intellidemand Governor chosen. I have the Xposed Framwork installed as well. I've had all of this running smoothly together for weeks with not one random reboot or lockup. The phone has literally been flawless. Until this.....
So, i'm listening to music with headphones plugged in for my Spotify app and relaxing. About 10 minutes into the music session, the music stops. I look down and the app seems frozen. I pick up the phone and turn the screen on. As I swipe the screen to unlock, the phone freezes. I turn the screen off by pressing the power button. From this point on, the screen will not turn back on at all!!
What I've tried:
1) The usual hard reset via power button and volume down. Even power button by itself. The capacitive buttons just keep blinking, but the device never reboots at all.
2) I've tried plugging the device to a computer. The usb connection responds because the computer makes a sound. When I look at the device manager, it does show that it detects the M7 device to be connected. However, when trying to use any ADB commands, it simply states the device is not found (running Windows 8, btw).
3) Freaked out for about 10 minutes before regaining my composure and thinking of one last thing. Only thing I can think left to do is pull the battery. Of course this isn't possible with the HTC One, so my only comparative option would be to let the battery drain completely. The irony is that I boast so much about my phone's battery life, so I know that I'll be waiting 2-3 days for this to happen before I can hope for resolution after.
I've tried to be as specific as possible here guys. I'm far from an expert, but I've owned 4 or 5 android phones since 2008 and have never bricked one. If anyone knows anyway to bring my phone back from this RANDOM sleep of death, please let me know so.
Forever Grateful!
Find a bright light. Hold phone under this light and hold power button down again. Phone lights will blink and the phone will shut off.

I've just been mindf**ked... It WORKED! What kind of crazy HTC Easter Egg is that??? And thank you so much by the way! You have no idea! I use my phone to promote my photography and film to my followers, and I was pretty heart broken lol
Also, what do you think couldv'e caused such a random deep sleep?
Could be the over clock. No need to oc a phone this fast IMHO. The bright light thing is a safeguard against accidentally powering off while in a purse or pocket.

I agree completely. Phone doesn't need to be OC'd. I was just being indulgent I guess lol. That's the first thing I changed when booting it back up. And ya, that's a pretty cool trick sir. This is why I love my XDA Fam! Android FTW!
Also I'd turn off mpdecision in faux control app. It doesn't play nice with faux intelliplug

Yep. That was already turned off based from his recommendations. Only thing I really did was change the OC levels back down to stock.

Camera purple tint issue

I read the entire thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317507&page=25, but nobody could confirm that it's a software or a hardware issue. And HTC is not sure too. Can anybody please confirm? Does everyone have purple tint issue in low light?

From what i can tell its a software issue and supposedly adjusting ISO levels and different modes can help with the problem.

Yes that was what I initially thought, but after pondering, I realized that then it just doesn't explain why some devices don't have this issue in same setting. Maybe most, since it's mostly people with the issue who post.

Disabled HTC color enhancement via flar2 kernel, and this fixed the issue. No more nasty tints

Are you sure? Are you getting a pitch black image when covering the lens (assuming zero light conditions)?

Set to be lower the ISO is not a solution.
It is not possible to take pictures in low light conditions.
>you'll be able to quickly shoot vivid, true-to-life images with a wide range of colors, even in low light conditions.

This is a large lie.
HTC should announce this issue.
Hopefully this works for everyone else because I have officially fixed this issue on my Verizon One. Wait for it... Reboot into recovery and wipe system cache. Fixed. Haven't had the issue in over 3 days now. I have been waiting to post this until I was sure it was fixed. It worked for me guys. Give it a shot.

I'm not rooted either. Hence my "shackled" HTC one Sig. I just booted into stock recovery. Power cycle the phone and hold volume down. Then select recovery, press power. During the boot up press and hold volume up and volume down. The screen will go solid black. Keep holding volume up and down and you should see a message saying "SD card mount failed". It will do that about 4 times and then finally go into the stock recovery menu. Select wipe cache. Reboot.
It may take you a few times to get the timing down with the second power cycle after selecting recovery before you see the "SD card mount failed" mags. Its not a guarantee it will work for you but it did for me.

Hi there,
Thanks for your advice, although I couldn't get all the way through it. When I select Recovery and hold both the volume keys, the screen stays black for about 10-15 secs and then an HTC One picture (gray-ish) comes up on the screen with a warning red triangle within it. I can't do anything from there.. I just power it down. Any ideas?

I did that, but it goes to the HTC splash screen and keep rebooting. As soon as I let go, it boots normally. Perhaps, I'm doing something wrong?

You tap them and release them at the same time, no holding them down. Anyway worked for me when I first got the phone (in July, older firmware) and its has been this way on HTC devices forever. Hope you get it sorted.

Thanks it worked! I held on to the keys for a bit, as soon as the soft keys started flashing I let go and boom - I'm in the recovery! But as expected, clearing the cache didn't help with the Camera issue.

nexus 6 display wont work.

Hi. So I'll get right into it.
I've had my phone since November of last year and everything has worked good. Installed CM13, enabled notification lights, stuff like that. Dropped it a few times, there's 1 small crack on the screen but that's about it.
Today, the screen just stopped working. Out of nowhere. I don't know why or how since I haven't dropped it /etc. If I could take a picture I would but I'll try to describe it: full black screen, EXCEPT the blue notification light stays on.
Whenever the phone is charging, there's a blue light no matter how long I've been charging it for. When I press the lock button to see if anything happens, that light turns green. When I press it again or wait (16) seconds, there is around a 1-3 second delay (If I press the lock button: otherwise theres no delay) before the light changes color to blue.
When it's not charging, the blue light is still on no matter what. Press the lock button, light goes away: press it again there's 1-3 second delay and the light changes color to blue.
I know for a fact that the phone itself is working because I went to the Android device manager (android/devicemanager on Google's website as I cant post links) and made it ring and I could hear it just fine, and when I hold the lock button for around 15 seconds the phone forcefully reboots. Otherwise I can't interact with it at all: I've tried using ADB but executing "adb devices" shows that my phone is unauthorized.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks
If you reboot the device do you see Google splash screen or boot animation?
